I have never been more inspired by a man's speech as I did right now.
I do believe the key to eternal life is forgiving and asking for forgiveness
You dont know what someone else has been through if you have not walked in someone else's shoes
Hate is Satan's biggest power and forgiveness is God's biggest power
I choose to ask forgiveness and to forgive
I am sure God sent Nelson Mandela AT JUST THE RIGHT TIME as State President of South Africa, to teach humanity to forgive, to reconcile, to love and to have compassion.
There are those on both the black and white side that wants to keep the hate and remain in hate.
They will never accomplish anything worthwhile in this world

I am a proud South African, 75 years old. I am white, and was born the same year that the Apartheid government (the National Party) came to power. The Afrikaner/Boers had been thoroughly humiliated and beaten down by the British, and many of the farming community lost everything. This caused fierce Nationalism, and thus came Apartheid.
I grew up under this regime, with a Christian/National education given. We were taught slanted history, and we were taught to fear. Racism and fear together. But we grew up being indoctrinated in this way. Fear the Black hordes who want to drive us all back into the sea. Fear Communism... And the definition of Communism came to mean almost anyone who tried to oppose government policy.
I thank God that I grew up in a home where we were taught Love and Compassion. My father was a pastor, and preached everywhere he was needed. So I came into contact with people of other colours, which was quite unusual. I was also taught to not judge people, and treat all with respect.
So I grew up with this, and then what we were being taught outside of home. I knew who to believe, so did not trust any of the politicians of the time. I grew to not believe the stuff they preached.
The day Mandela was released was a great day, and then, the wonderful day we all - Black, white, whoever, went to vote together for the first time. One of the highlights of my life!
When Zuma became President, corruption became rife. I eventually, again, stopped believing the politicians.
Now, at our 2024 elections, we again had quite a change in government. The ANC had lost their majority and a Government of National Unity (GNU) was formed. We are mostly very positive about this new direction, and
Gayton McKenzie and his new party arose .
I am very wary of ever trusting politicians again, but I am on my way back, due to this man. He is a man who has pretty much seen it all, and says it like it is - rare in politicians.
Thanks for this, also the way you went through some history in order to explain things.
As a pensioner I now have more time to read, and am devouring book, and TH-cam docs. It is very interesting to find out how the past has also affected the present.

The apartheid system was enforced by the English in South Africa. Verwoerd was also not born in South Africa. Before the British put South Africans in concentration camps, black and white people lived peacefully alongside each other.
The bottom line is that no racism should exist. But Satan always has a way to work hate into everything.
However every person can look toward the Creator of Heaven and Earth and become loving ❤

That's funny, why does it not have an English name.Apartheid is an Afrikaans word. The concentration camps happened during the Boer wars 1 and 2. Which was horrific but an English woman I think Emily Hobhouse made sure the officials overseas ,were informed on what was happening and things changed it was war time. The English were responsible for that.Who was it that fought to abolish slavery and paid for slaves to be freed? They finally finished paying off the money they owed in 2015. United Kingdom .Don't change history to suit your self. Apartheid was ruled by the" Nationale" party.Afrikaans. Not sure how old you are but I saw and experienced the utter hate with my own eyes.

Great commentary, thank you. I sincerly believe that the first step in normalisation is for each individual to never again refer to human beings by colours. The second step is to be the South African that is proud of their ancestry. Indian, Bantu, Venda, Shona European etc. As a person that, in the course of my work, travels throughout all communities in all provances there is rarely anything but smiles, goodwill, etiquette, humour, hospitality.... when you loose the very idea of separation through colour.

The one good deed he did started small as a mustard seed. You will see the monstrous tree it will grow into. He deserves time and support from the people. We can make this happen by voting for him to give him a voice. Remember the MUSTARD SEED. Everything worthwhile starts small.
