With all these photographers on youtube/social media it's easy to get lost as a newer photographer and follow bad advice, but all you have to do is look at their final shot. Eli killed this nice work!
Love your videos!!! I wonder if you could tell me where can I get the gel filters. I bought some from caruba but the color was not strong enough and it was really thick. Love your work!!! ❤❤❤❤
Thanks for the video. I have one question: typically what is the lighting ratio between the key light and the gel light? Is it typically 1 (main): 2 (hairlight)
Thank you SO much for including your camera settings. I was getting grainy photos because i didnt understand the relationship between iso and light. Including your settings helped me realize what i was doing wrong and made this finally click. This is the only color gel video that ive found suitable for beginners. This video really helped me understand iso and lighting. And helped me control my shots;
Could you recommend a decent full frame camera. I've been using a Canon M50 and looking for something with great quality raw photos. I love your work. Would you suggest a Sony or Canon ?
Great tutorial! I have the same setup but using Godox flash units and beauty dish with grid and diffuser. Rosco color gels and westcott umbrellas (espically the 7') are some of my favorite modifiers.
I recently was able to buy one Wescott FJ 400 later this week I am planning on buying some gel colors and getting that diffuser that you showed in the video at a camera store near me
I've seen many videos in your channel and without using gels you expose first the subject and then the rim light or backligh. Why do you expose first rim lights first when using color gels? Regards from Norway ❤❤
Awesome tutorial, thank you! I'm a little confused, did you turn off the modeling lights afterwards and went ahead and just used flash or did you leave the modeling lights as continuous lights throughout the photoshoot? Thank you.
Hi, any video on setting the FJ-X2m and FJ400? Soon as I take a picture with fj-x2m in manual it jumps to TTL and then I can't adjust the fj400 from fj-x2m. Help please!!
I learned Spanish in Guatemala...and was taught "pedo" is "fart." So I'm just watching this whole video now to find out what the heck "the whole fart" is?! :P
That's right, but actually there's a meme about the "pedo" word. Here in Argentina it has a lot of uses. You can say someone is "en pedo" when that person is drunk, or you can say "de pedo" when something is by luck, or "ni en pedo" when you mean there's no chance. Also you can say someone is "a los pedos" when he or she is going too fast. And well, I guess it has its own meaning in Mexico too, not sure how to explain the meaning in this video, I just take it as a modism, a natural expression or a "cool phrase".. just don't try to find some deep meaning.
Good Information but I wish westcott would do something about the prices of those modifiers. Very steep in price and no grid and the grids are expensive too. By the time you purchase one complete modifier your in with a good chunk of money. I understand that they change along with your lights and again that’s another purchase that has to be made but I can get along with other modifiers and spend all that money on a lens or even a new camera or even another westcott fj400.
Relative to brands like Profoto and Broncolor, Westcott's products are much more affordable. I've gotten some modifiers and other products from brands like Neewer or even GLOW by Adorama, in the past. They were fine and did the job for the most part, but were not nearly as well-built/durable. Everything I've ever purchased from Westcott has been incredible. This is all an investment, but going with a brand like this (or higher-end ones) will likely cost you less in the long run, as you won't have to replace or repair damaged items nearly as often. That said, I got some really good use out of my less expensive products. They just didn't last as long. Nor were they as consistent.
@@EliInfante I really appreciate you responding fast my second question for you would be if I'm on a budget and I wanted to get as close as I can to creating a lighting situation like you have in this photo what would you recommend?
@@EliInfante correct me if I'm wrong but if I already bought a Wescott transmitter when I got the Wescott fj400 do I need to buy a second transmitter if I'm getting the Wescott fj200

Also do the orange and teal stay on constantly then your soft box is just a remote flash?
My lights are being triggered by the Westcott FJX2m
Great tips, sir. Also hi from Jaky!!
That's why you're my fav!
I knew it all along 😎😂
One more thing, If I switched camera brands are the lights universal? If not can I go mirrorless canon from canon t5i and still use?
Lights are universal with the Westcott FJX2M.

@@EliInfante thanks a lot!!!!❤❤❤
Will your equipment work with canon?
Yes
Hi Eli what Gel set brand did you use.
Rosco Gels :)
Was the modeling light on from the key light through the shoot? I couldn’t see it when shooting the model
I didn’t forget to turn it in on a few shots.

நன்றாக இருக்கிறது வாழ்த்துக்கள் R.MANOHAR-CHENNAI
Thank you Manohar!
Perron!
Can it be done with 2 fj400 and a fj80
Yes! :)
How do you make sure you dont melt the gels? So hard to find any info on that and just seeing lots of scary amazon reviews
I wrap them over the flash dome. Never put color gels on the flash tube.
What size are the umbrellas ?
43” and 53” 😁
@@EliInfante Will "Deep Beaded" Silver Umbrella work? The one that are not aren't available right now. Can you explain the difference?
