Once Upon a Studio is a 2023 American live-action/animated fantasy comedy short film written and directed by Dan Abraham and Trent Correy, produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios and released by Walt Disney Pictures. In the film, animator Burny Mattinson discovers Disney characters are coming to life from pictures hanging in the studio building. Inspired by The Walt Disney Company's upcoming 100th anniversary on October 16, 2023, the short film was described as a "love letter" to Walt Disney Animation Studios by Correy and Abraham. The short's art style combines computer graphics, traditional animation and live-action.
Once Upon a Studio premiered at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival on June 11, 2023, and will have its first public showing on ABC on October 15, 2023 as part of The Wonderful World of Disney: Disney's 100th Anniversary Celebration before screening in theaters with Wish on November 22, 2023.

OMG! They included John Henry from Disney's American Legends! This whole idea has been a dream of mine for year since I was a toddler! I'm so psyched!!!! And that's so cool about the collage! I used that for the first PowerPoint I made for my Disney Club meeting in high school! What a small world
You could see Benjamin Franklin with Amos as well.

The genie isn't the only one who is being used "beyond the grave" Vera Felton (red fairy from SB) and the voice actor of Merryweather (blue fairy from SB) as well as Winnie the Pooh's origonal voice actor is "being used beyond the grave" (Its also going infront of WISH.
Verna Felton and Sterling Holloway were some of the all time greatest Disney voice artists so it only makes sense that they are used! This is honestly shaping up to be so good!!!
To answer your questions on the unrecognizable characters, the Black Man with the hammer is John Henry who was in an early 2000’s shirt called John Henry which was attached to Disney Legends and the Guy with the Mouse (not a woodpecker) that is right by Louis the Alligator from _Princess and the Frog_ and above Phil from _Hercules_ at 6:34-6:46 is Benjamin Franklin and Amos Mouse there from _Ben and Me_ which is a 1953 two-reel animated Disney short based on the book of the same name.
In fact since I saw some characters from animated shorts in the trailer such as The Three Little Pigs, John Henry, Amos Mouse and Benjamin Franklin, hopefully we get more animated from the shorts such as George & Meg from _Paperman_ and Nessie from _The Ballad of Nessie_
As soon as you said mouse it rang a bell. Although I've definitely not seen it. Neither John Henry or Ben and Me are on Disney Plus which is a shame...
And as for shorts representation, I'm the weirdo that would want to see Flowers and Trees from Silly Symphonys 😂
The black man is John Henry. He was in a short that was part of a compilation film called "Disney's American Legends."

To celebrate Disney's 100 years, all the Disney 2D and 3D characters are all coming together to get their photo taken while the employees left for the day
I'm so hype to see everyone from the past and presents coming together
It looks gorgeous and it feels like I'm living back to my childhood with the classic Disney characters
I was so happy that Kuzco as a llama and Pacha (From The Emperor's New Groove) and Rutt and Tuke the two moose brothers (From Brother Bear) made their cameos and are included in this short
My big hope is to see Tod and Copper (From The Fox and the Hound) make their cameos because The Fox and the Hound is my favorite Disney movie and I would to see them be included

The fact that the cows from Home on The Range were included makes me very hopeful for all the underappreciated movies!

the guy and mouse next to Luisa is Ben Franklin and Amos from a short called "Ben and Me", which is basically how all the accomplishments of Ben Franklin only happened because of a mouse friend named Amos. it's as silly as it sounds and you guys should definitely try to give it a watch

My one concern is that with so many characters in one short it's going to be impossible to please everyone.
I'm more for the interactions like Baloo and Little John sharing a joke in House of Mouse. I'd love to see Nick and Robin Hood doing something similar. Or Rocket handing Meeko a laser rifle and everyone ducking. Several of the birds watching from a phone line before Dumbo sits himself down bending the whole thing. Stuff like that with a sense of fun and whimsy.
These ideas are incredible! But something tells me to not hold my breath for them...
At this point... just bring back House of Mouse!!! 😭

I want SO BADLY for this to be a back door pilot for a new House of Mouse. It’s setting up the same way they were aware of each other and interacted, and could be a new intro where they leave their frames and go to their club at night after having such fun doing a reunion of the whole “gang”

I actually remember watching 8 Simple Rules on that! Me and my brother would find it so weird that they put two ad breaks during each episode. Often straight after the opening titles... but that's America for ya I guess 😂😂😂

Yep, it's playing in front of wish. My guess they have it come on abc, so it's close to the actual anniversary on 10/16. Then when wish drops on D+. They'll drop the short as well. Like they did for Carl's Date & Elemental. 😊👍💙

If they actually made a new Short using the characters in a new way like rescue rangers I'd be excited, but seeing it's just reuse animation makes it disingenuous, like seeing, look at that cameo rather than using the characters for real .
At leats the new lego friends princesses movie used the princessed in interesting ways and interacting with each other rather than just copy and paste old animations
