Day 8: Phly, I've got a series idea for ya, called "Chaos... is a Ladder." Simply start at the reserve tier of tanks, and play one match. Next match, you can upgrade to the highest BR tank that you killed in the previous match. Rinse n' repeat. See how many matches it takes to get to top-BR.

@@louiswright8282 I’ve been thinking about a matchmaking rework where instead of 1br up and down it’s .7 but I don’t know enough about what goes into the matchmaking system to understand how much this would affect the game. Well in my head it wouldn’t make being uptiered as horrible and would lessen the seal clubbing of downtiers.
Thinking about it, I would even be ok with alternate history modes. Like if the cold War went hot. If the Korean War was extended with further China involvement. I just want matchups that make sense instead of a random jumble of nations and vehicles of a wide BR spread.
We had that Tank on a training area near where I life.
It was completely paintet in pink and became the Pink Panzer.
Now it's in the German Tank Museum in Munster.

Quick story time, back when I was grinding through germany and got to 6.7 this and the jadgtiger were my saving grace. The tiger 2 was not good with my playstyle and it just was not fun until I got this thing spaded. Once I had it spaded this got me all the way to 8.7 like a breeze. For that reason i will always love this tank, the armor, firepower, and mobility of it just made it a way more enjoyable tank compared to all of what germany had to offer up to that point. Jadgtiger was great just cause 128mm lolz.

As it turns out I ended up in that last game on the opposite team, first as the T-44 and second as the IS-2 that came from the bushes near the end. First shot was a hit to the side of the turret on Phly (no surprise that even the 85mm goes through there). The 2nd shot wasn't as well aimed (had to fire on the move through a bush) and it hit the side edge of the hull (also no surprise that the 122mm bounces there).
Anyways, good game Phly!

Tbh German tanks aren't great till later tiers. I play them because I just like German tanks verses all the other tanks in the game. Tiger has always been my favorite tank ever and I'm gonna enjoy it no matter what, even if it's not "tHe MeTa"

@@sauronsrighthandman301 I would agree that the German tech tree isn't the greatest till 5.3 and above, but even in lower tiers they have some great vehicles and premium vehicles. For example lowtier pumas that just smash new players and have tons of mobility, great lowtier spaa and the list just goes on. I would sum up germany like this: lots of good techtree and premium vehicles that are just better than your vehicles and cost less.

M48 can't really tank much like a heavy but as a medium , it's armor and space protects it from poorly placed shots when you are on the move or trolling the enemy with sudden movements which will very likely make them hit every sloped parts of your armor
I support sandwich with his chaos is a ladder challenge, with a little addition if you kill lets say german tank you go german tank with same BR until you kill something with higher BR of other faction
2:50 Gaijiggles tried justifying the M48A2 C at 6.7 because "it faces different enemies than the M48A1", you can imagine what the community thought of that.
They both literaly face itself... thats the only difference...
The German M48, if at 6.7, (RB considered) doesn’t have to face German 5.7-7.7 of course, but the tradeoff being having to (usually) face American 5.7-7.7.
What about the American / Chinese M48 facing Sweden Centurions ? The reason given to drop the A2 was British Centurions. And he didn’t mention this smoke dischargers. It’s time to drop the M48A1 or raise the M48A2.

@DestroyerTom It's also true that the German KV-1B doesn't face half as many lethal guns because it's on German teams. They don't use that logic to justify moving that fucker up in BR, do they? Germany gets babied.
This single tank is one of my top 3 pet peeves. Right up there net to BR compression and aircraft killing my tank w/out me being able to do anything about it. This thing is better than the M48A1 in every way except armor, and yet it's somehow lower BR. And I think people underestimate the advantage that smoke grenades are.
Smoke grenades are super op, no one just ever uses them properly, smoke shells too. I first learned this with the m24, if you got some stupid sniper off in the distance just load smoke and fire it right into their face. If you got someone holding a cheeky angle fire it as close in front of them as you can without exposing yourself. If you got enemies spawn camping or otherwise holding down a "passageway" of sorts then make a slow advance towards them and use your smoke grenades to hide your exact position while doing so.
I have done so many cheeky things with smoke rounds/grenades to get kills in m24 which I later adopted with other tanks (and most American tanks will have smokes).
smoke basically makes you invisible for people in a certain direction. the best camo there is
I remember those days. I'm glad Gaijin finally pulled their head out of their ass and lowered the BR of German tanks like the Tiger II H and Panther II. We were going against opponents with stabilizers and APFSDS in WW2 tanks!

It will be a perpetual thing because of Gaijin getting caught in the past unnecessarily nerfing them in the code. Things like the engine fire on frontal non-pens dumb assery pretty much guaranteed Gaijin will always lean forward with Germany.

@@nbranski43 I've never even heard of that happening. I always assumed it was because of Gaijin's horrid way of balancing via win rates. New players flock to Germany which drag win rates down and causes German vehicles to go down in BR. Pair that with the unfortunately extremely vocal "Germany suffers" crowd it seems like Gaijin will continue to make Germany more and more powerful even when there's clearly an imbalance.
Day 28: Phly, you should play the Hawk III Chinese fighter; 900lbs of bombs in a biplane at 1.0 that you can dogfight in after dropping. Totally balanced.

The (M47 105/55) is such a good vehicle. I would say that it's superior to all Patton's that don't have Stabalizers. The sabot round is just Perfecto 👌🇮🇹

its because it faced different enemies than the american one. The ger M48 is mainly backed up by king tigers and faces british stabilized tanks while the american one had a much more diverse and powerful lineup backing it up. The tanks might be equal in stats but they play very differently because of this.

Gaijin really can't handle the concept of one person being better than another at a video game. BR should be set on vehicle ability in this game and by people who maybe test play the game like content creators and community members. not stats on how good and bad players are using it.

This Tank is the best AA at 7.0. I killed so many planes with it - because they attack you, thinking you´re a basic tank. But BOOM, you M48A2-C them with your MGs.
Imagine going the other way with this instead of playing ridiculously low tiered tanks - try ridiculously up tiered like the M60 base model or the T-54's at 7.7/8.7
I have it’s not easy but very possible. You can pen any of those you just need t learn where to shoot.
The reason cited by gaijoobles for this thing's battle rating was that this one has to face the British whereas the American one didn't coupled with this one not having many vehicles around it's BR to form line ups.

I know that West-Germany had masses of Pattons and upgraded them (Motor, Gun and MG) several times. Also some special variants of the Patton was still in use 2007 in the German Bundeswehr. It's upgradeability and adaptability seems to be realy good.

As someone who has been playing War Thunder for 5+ years now, the Germans have always been the whiniest and most vocal members of the community. I've reached top tier with all nations and never did I have an easier time playing than when I was playing Germany 1.0-7.7. At those tiers Germany has everything you could ever need: armor, speed, mobility, firepower... I remember when the Jumbo was 4.7 and Germans bitched and moaned that their Tiger 1's couldn't kill it in one shot and got its BR raised to 5.3.
Post 7.7 I feel Germany loses a lot of the power it used to have and simply plays like every other nation post 7.7.
Yeah Germany is really just easy mode. They keep buffing Germany, and letting Britain and the US fall so so far behind, especially at those mid-tiers. Idk when The US becomes playable because at 6.7 it’s pain. Britain gets fun at 7.3-7.7 because APDS and stabilizer go brrrrrrrr
I dunno man, playing all the way through German ground and almost all the way through Russian, it's just knowledge of your vehicle and skill. No vehicle is truly bad (french low tier can go to hell.) in either tree

Germany's Ground TT is consistently good. It just never gets bad, it's always either good or really good.

The T34 is the worst heavy tank at that BR, the armor sucks ass, the ammunition sucks, the mobility sucks, the only good thing about it is the turret rotation and plethra of .50 cals. Ever since they forced you to have ammo in the turret I have simply fucking hated every game I play with the T34.
Do you honestly believe the jumbo should be a 4.7 tank while a tiger 1 was all the way up at 5.7? Jumbo slaps even at 5.3, it was straight seal clubbing at 4.7. But im sure gaijin totally didnt take statistics into account and nerfed the jumbo ONLY because of german players whining.

its a lower BR because many people don't play it (they rather the Leopard) so when they do play it they're not practiced with it. in the US tech tree there isn't a better (or at least not that much better) option so its played more. therefore people who play the US tech tree are more practiced with it. The stats then show that the German version is less effective even though thats not the case.
Always use heatfs only. You may not kill everything one shot, however you disable everything in one shot, which is more important.

Don’t know where people get the idea Germany isn’t good below 5.7. Sure, until 5.7 you don’t get any heavies which is annoying, but I’m grinding tier 3 with a 3.7BR line up right now (Pz.IV H, with Pz.IV G, and F2 as back ups, The Dicker Max, the Stug III F, and the Wirblewind) and it plays great. A tank for ever situation, and the frontal armor of the H bounces shots a lot especially if slightly angled.

I miss the time when US M48 came up against Tiger 2s and trolling them head on or angled head on shots, since they can't pen M48 from the front, while the M48 with HEAT can kill the driver of the Tiger from lower glacis or the gunner from the mantlet shot.

Germany is a breeze to play at 9.0 and above. At 9.0 you don't have to face the G/91 spam when playing Germany, and top tier you get a good chance of having Russia on your side which is auto-win.
Top tier isn't about good tanks, it's about having Russia on your side to win. With ease.
