- This cube balances itself on one of its corners or an edge using three reaction wheels mounted inside the cube. A microcontroller takes readings from an inertial measurement unit and converts them to control signals for three brushless DC motors which drive the reaction wheels. More information about this cube is available on www.willempennings.nl/.

It'd be awesome to see a version with a wood veneer so it seems innocuous externally
It wasn't grand or monumental, no soaring arches or earth-shattering mechanisms. It was delicate, almost ephemeral, held aloft by invisible threads of pure delight.
Handy place to store tomatoes
Saw it on HN. It's freaking awesome.
Thanks so much for open sourcing this!
Beautiful control systems demonstration piece. Love it, great work. ❤
that's super cool, though I would like to see a gyroscope version that uses different types of procession to adjust its angle, that would likely last a lot longer, and you wouldn't have to worry about overspinning the wheels
Sir... , This is a piece of art
Just amazing. You did some really nice work!
Impressive..

Wow a new take on the cubli!
lovely! looks very well made as well as great performance!
What happens if you shake the table really quickly?
Amazing job dude!
A great device and what's best, it's not free energy ;)
So amazing 😮 and is interesting
this song goes crazy
This is incredible!
COOL!
Wow, very nice and super neat : Impressive
Counterpoint re: music - I thought the music was delightful, as is the cube :)
So neat!
bro wtf, i love it!
Schat, wat was die afschrijving van €2500 eigenlijk?
Jokes aside, wat een meesterwerk 👏🏻
why?
disturbance variable = one tomato. Attack of the killer tomatoes from outer space. I like your humor. 🤣🤣🤣
Super

doesnt this pretty much solve the walking robot balancing problem ? could literally have a single leg robot with wheel feet that hops and balance using fly wheel. no need to spent thousand of hours training machine learning model to mimic human balance, just regular good old reliable PID controller base balancing. Cheap and easy to tune. Unless the fly wheel weight needed scale horribly when change to larger scale robot.
