It is not historically correct. There was no Billy Crow or Mr. Sundown. Most of the events are pure fiction. Would have been much better if they stuck to the truth, as reported by newspapers when Bass Reeves lived.
I had the privilege of being a part of this production, even though I was miles away from the set. I watched for the train that ran about 50 yards from the town set in Strawn Tx. When the train came I called the set and they had to shut down filming so not to capture the train noise.12 hours at a time I sat in my truck watching. But you can bet I hit the caterers to eat afterwards lol. It was cool being part of it. My credit as trainwatcher was cool
The Piu, Arapaho, Apache, Lakota, and other tribes were impressed by Bass Reeves. And for me what was more important were the men that came to admire and even work with him that started off hating everything Bass Reevesd represented. Even the Texas Rangers were willing to work with Bass Reeves, which is still a big statement. Reeves was know to be fair with everyone, he really did stand for the balance of justice with honest enforcement of the laws. This will take a place next to mini series like "Roots" for showing the real history of our great nation.
Thank you to all for the amazing work that was put into this. I have watched 5 episodes now and find this story so intriguing. It is too bad our school books did not cover this in Texas or any other state. At least Bass is being recognized along with such other rich historical facts. American history is so rich and the tapestry and weaving of sorts is inspiring. I think these actors convey this story well.😍
Bass Reeves was a great man of conviction with a strong faith in God. Glad to see someone is finally telling his story well. He's a true American hero and man well worthy of respect. When my son plays "old west cowboys", he acts like he's Marshall Bass Reeves!
They need to do a political drama on Hiram Revels next and really include his impact on higher education through the landgrant universities. Thank you all for the care and consideration in making this great show 👏
David Olylowo might want to do his genealogy. I find when a historic person keeps grabbing your attention. There's is a great chance your related to them.
i'm a wild west history buff david oyelowo is a pint size miscast i hope when the bio 'black gun silver star' becomes the movie its important to find the right one to play the part of such an historical figure as bass reeves
Making of Bass Revees will help the current black psyche & be a positive influence on the mindset of young blacks who have been so misled by activist organizations
it was the morals, Bass, had morals and belived in order, almost all, other famoue name wild west lawmen, were degenerate gamblers and drunkards.....even billy the kid was a gambling freak, he was just sober, he would get cracked, then go out and steal horses and cattle.
Fair, but counterpoint, it could be said Melvin's character was a rip off of the original man. And the original man had unshakable moral grounding, whereas the former film had a more anti-hero.

I will never watch a Taylor Sheridan show again. He got so greedy after the popularity of Yellowstone that he reached into the Bucket to get more money. Causing Yellowstone yo fail because he had too many fires in the iron, ruining Yellowstone causing it to end. Shame on you
bass reeves the legend was 6 feet 2 a giant among men (average height in them days was between 5 foot 5 to 5 foot 10) david oyelowo doesn't meet the standard at 5 foot 10 i'll pass on this one i'm sure a more suitable actor will come along in the future n play the part
One of the few series worth paying for. Well written, well acted and most of all historically correct, Excellently Done.

What kind of boomerang is that sharp
I missed western shows like this and then came Lawman Bass Reeves. 👍
Bass Reeves's story had always fascinated me because of how awesome he was as a U.S. Marshall. I'm looking forward to watching this.

This is epic. You can smell the Wild West just by looking at the set. Amazing production. How these guys do it is beyond me.

They need to do a political drama on Hiram Revels next and really include his impact on higher education through the landgrant universities. Thank you all for the care and consideration in making this great show 👏
Superb first season!! 🔥🔥🫡🫡
Folks say that The Lone Ranger was based on Reeves life
David Olylowo might want to do his genealogy. I find when a historic person keeps grabbing your attention. There's is a great chance your related to them.
Lauren did an amazing job in this show
There are scenes in this video that I don't think made it into the final episodes! I don't remember them.
The original Lone Ranger
When does it come to skyshowtime ?
The Willie Kenard story should be next…
Nice
To bad these Series is not on the Paramount channel, not the plus.
everyone keep saying the lone ranger was loosely based on bass reeves life i believe 'hang 'em high' with clint eastwood was more like it
i'm a wild west history buff david oyelowo is a pint size miscast i hope when the bio 'black gun silver star' becomes the movie its important to find the right one to play the part of such an historical figure as bass reeves

There were black outlaws, too. I hope that the 3 dimensional aspect of black people on the frontier is represented.
Making of Bass Revees will help the current black psyche & be a positive influence on the mindset of young blacks who have been so misled by activist organizations
I was entirely unaware that they had veneers and advanced dental work back in the 1800s Wild West.
Bass Reeves was a big man why did they pick a short little man to play him?
it was the morals, Bass, had morals and belived in order, almost all, other famoue name wild west lawmen, were degenerate gamblers and drunkards.....even billy the kid was a gambling freak, he was just sober, he would get cracked, then go out and steal horses and cattle.
Lol
This sounds like a rip off of Melvin Van Pebbles Sweet Sweet Back
Yawn...

Why do they keep casting immigrants as black american hero ?

Good for you?

Very poor acting by all in the 3rd episode. Who picked these actors anyway.
William Smith of the state of New York was the first White US Marshal.
Why so insecure?
