My friend got about 20 buckets of copper i said get rid of that, he said na besides coins etc probably over 30 buckets. He jokes that hes the reason copper jumped up, good luck thubprint good worker smart man.
I’ve always got the copper windings out of transformers by shearing it with a chisel and it doesn’t even have to be sharp, the bashing with a screwdriver, maybe the same with motors but I’ve never tried
Kinda more excited to see you do your car repairs than do more scrapping. It's good seeing people's lives take steps forward. Same reason I like watching people build garages or add shelving units to them.
Another good piece of advice use a chopsaw. You could put the motor with the windings face in the blade and just bring the salt down on top of it and it cut so much faster.
It's interesting to see what you have to sort out. Your videos don't pop up on new ones posted. Redid it so hopefully won't miss anything. Thanks for sharing. Okies Scrapper has a v cut in the tool he uses to pull copper out of motors.
There is something deep and philosophical hidden in what you said about, it doesn’t matter how you do it as long as the outcome is positive or many roads lead to the same destination or something like that. 🤪 God bless 🙏🏼🇺🇸🇨🇦
That was pretty efficient, dirty brass and all. Nice return for just pulling “trash” out of a dumpster. I mean, if you saw a $20 bill sitting in the trash, you’d definitely pick it up!
do some research on ewaste buyers in Canada. when u have found a company that pays well, save up and send them a nice big load- that would be the best way to make max money from whatever ewaste u find
Even if it's stuff you've processed before, I always enjoy watching it happen. Prices seem about the same where you are as they are in my neighborhood. Great stuff!
I always scrap the hard drives down. If the scrap rate for the boards is bad in my area I check to see what sold comps on eBay is per pound. If nothing else I hold on to them as they are small and are easy to store. As for the rest of the hard drive.... high powered magnet, cast aluminum body, steel or aluminum piece of metal on the top. The platters get me some nickle value. Thought I will say I generally wait until I have a lot of drives. Also I save all of the screws. When I get a pound of them I sell those on eBay as well. That is here in the US, though.
Here in Edmonton, Canada, I'd take the bike wheel to Edm Bicycle Commuters. Many cities have similar non-profits helping people fix their bikes. It doesn't pay cash, but they give me their empty cans in exchange.
The yard near me started doing aluminum as one category, 44 cents a pound, been SUPER nice not having to figure out material, the only thing i separate now is unpainted extruded and some cast
My scrap yard is ok. They dont really differentiate between cast, extruded, stainless metals. My other options is driving to LA which is not worth the gas. But they also dont worry about stuff being seperated much either. I got 11 bucks for 2 grocery bags full of insulated wire, 2 break pads, and a bin full of steel. I feel it was ok. What say you guys? Im saving my aluminum and copper for really rainy days.
I think you should drill some holes into your vise stump to bolt on the wire stripper. That way you could use both the stripper and the vise without needing to change your set up. Also how are the truck repairs coming along?
Thank you for always bringing a positive attitude, your thoughts, tips and great open vibe in regards to scrapping. Thank you for having us along. It is entertaining and educational. Also, I love the bottle bags 🤘 Keep doing the thing ❤️
The hard drive logic boards are usually classified as the same quality as the finger boards. Taking a couple seconds to pull the boards and still getting dirty cast for them might add some more to the parts fund.
I love to do something similar. Paying myself to scrap by buying car parts. I love cruising the junk yards for car parts. I hate to pay someone to fix my car.
There’s actually quite a few different types of aluminium but for scrap it’s generally just cast, extruded, old and sometimes 6063. For the most part it’s just a visual inspection to inform the manufacturing process. Cast will have a more irregular surface texture and sometimes casting marks, but the best giveaway is it tends to be brittle and will break with a hammer
@@thubprint so cast aluminum Man will break with a hammer quite easily that I take it and regular aluminum doesn't quite break cuz I would mean and then I've heard of a duplex and that I know is supposed to be like high grade but I probably got regular grade for duplex aluminum because I didn't know the difference at the time it's stronger right believe that's where I come into trouble with cast aluminum and duplex aluminum
@@darlatownsend952 it’s not a perfect way to check, I don’t know how hard you swing a hammer lol. I haven’t heard of duplex but I think there’s a good chance you’re thinking of extruded aluminium. Aluminium extrusion is best recognized by its shape. I’ve got some good examples in my aluminium video! th-cam.com/video/kW7CBCpx5Ms/w-d-xo.html
enjoyed as always. how does it work in your region between dirty brass and dirty copper? that toilet drain appeared to have some quality copper in it? also do you get a bump up in unit price once over 100#
I didn't get a chance to see how you took off the wire plastic off the wire or the cuz you went too fast on it it could go slow for the first part and then go fast with the rest of it only because I've never stripped my wires off I've always given it to him with the coating on it which I know depreciates the value
I’m new to scrapping. Just getting into it, and I’m trying to learn as much as I can. Could I ask, why is the copper that you’re pulling out of the motors nr2 copper? It’s really clean, so I’m a bit confused. Is it because of the thickness of the copper?? Thanks in advance
Don’t be afraid of the angle grinder I cut those motors also just like you’re doing but just hold it really tight strong in one hand and use the grinder was one hand you don’t need advice to be honest with you because I never use one hour as long as you’re very strong control, the machine won’t get away from you
Uhh, Crazy Canadian Bohemian Cousin, be like Bigstacked down there in the Land Down Under. Save them copper dust and do a smelting vid! Again to all you viewers, All Hail King Trash Panda!
There isn't "terrible technique" thing in scrapping my friend...everyone of us has just a "different way" to get the job done😁... Keep going buddy👍

i have found that the plate on the hard drives can be brass and very easy to remove.
some epic pieces of brass in there! Keep doing the thing :o)

Awesome episode brother. HAVE I missed one what's going on with truck
I got a bunch of that insulated BX cable this past summer it was a great find! CheeRs Thub
Hard drive magnets may be worth popping the drives open. Finding the screws under the label can be the hard part.T8 and a drill will get the top off.
Always watch your fingers when working Thank you for the video.
Nice load to scrap mate

What happened with that again? I forget!
@@its_marc Head gasket, so he's getting car fixed up first and extra funds go towards the truck.

Oof, yeah that’s a real pain. I’m kinda surprised that’s not the norm everywhere tbh, but I’m grateful mine doesn’t
Bro , your dart board isn’t set at the right height
For once I'm not going to comment about the scrap. I just want to know.... the tattoo on your palm.... Did that hurt?!? (it looks like it might have!)
I would sell those hard drives online
another scraptastic video! stole that from you, not sorry
