    Manfrotto website mentions that almost all tools are metric. So even the nut/bolt for the center column lock is indeed mm standard. It is 6mm nut/bolt. Manfrotto also warns that using common hardware store bolts (which are usually inch standard) will damage the internal nut thread. I purchased a set of stainless steel 6mm nut-bolt set from Washing Machine repair shop. Got a piece of steel welded to it to make it a heavy duty butterfly bolt. Works like a charm and costs around USD 1 for everything here in India.

    Ace hardware sell those with plastic handles already built in to the nuts, they might be round or square.

    When I saw your thumbnail, I thought, Great, a video that finally shows how to put the central column back together. Unfortunately the thumbnail was lying ;)

      So weird because the thumbnail doesn’t say that all. 🙃 Guess your assumptions were lying

    in the thumbnail you showed the entire casing apart, but here it's already assembled and it's glossed over entirely 😭 trying to fix that part (where the rod attaches to the actual tripod) but it was like, a single second out of this video 😭

    Good day, but the problem is that you are skiping! You did not show properly the assembly! Cause i also have the 055xprob that i disassembled to clean it but im struggling now to assemble it specially the plastic circle where the pipe that holds the tripod head enters

  • @gman9552
    @gman9552 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Nice, I would use a permanent DIY fix though. Buy the rod, cut to length slightly longer than original. Screw in lock nut so that length sticking out equal thickness of the nut. With the piece of rod sticking out screw in a steel wing nut up to and against the lock nut. Jam the 2 good together and voila permanent fix that will never break. If you really want to the wing nut can be rubber coated. The less plastic the better.

    Nice one Tyler. Mine went too so I ordered a new screw but I think it's a problem within the neck. Gonna take it apart now to see. I actually bought an ex-demo Kenro tripod at a steal that's also carbon and has a ball head (but no centre column) and I swear, I actually prefer it to the MF. That centre column is over engineered!

    • @TylerEdwards
      @TylerEdwards  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That’s for dropping by Hugh! Agreed, a little to much work went into that center column haha! I’ve retired that as my main tripod and moved up to a Sachtler Flowtech & FSB8 combo. So much better!

    I just want to add to this. It requires an M5 bolt. The whole design is rediculous. i go through maybe 3 bolts per month shooting realestate. Ive finally switched tripods. this needs a recall.

    • @wingmanmedia6536
      @wingmanmedia6536 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It could be imperial close to M5. I have plenty of M5s and none go into the original nut.

      I've replaced three of the official parts inside a year. I don't think the screw threads are very good quality..... Mine does get very heavy use though.

      "Pro Video Head"? Looks bigger than the one I found which has a seemingly low payload max.
