Did my first accuracy testing on my SFAR, but was at 50 yards since I was using a 1-8 LPVO. I ned to slap a higher power optic on there and run it again, but out of the 6 loads I ran, my results are similar to yours.... really not crazy accuracy, but good for what I'm looking for. I did not try any Nosler or Hornady Black, only the Hornady Whitetail which kinda sucked unlike what it does in other rifles I own. I topped buying Norler Trophy grade a few years ago when it just wasn't performing in a different rifle and the cost wasn't worth it, but looks like I need to pick up a bx and try it in this rifle. Thanks for continuing the SFAR adventure! should have my accuracy video out in a few weeks per my video release schedule.
I have the 20" SFAR, and had some good groups with S&B 124 gr FMJ. Since the twist rate of barrel is pretty slow, it would make sense that it likes lighter bullets..but I don't know, rifle/barrels are also individuals. What works for me, might not work for you.
Appreciate you investing all the time, energy, effort and funds to accomplish this testing. I assume this was @ 100 yards. I may have missed that if you stated it, I apologize if you did. I am surprised so many of the groups are as large as they are. I am definitely not criticising your skill. You have demonstrated your abilities here and on other occasions. But my 16" SFAR prints some 2" groups with m80 and sub-moa to 1.5 moa using a 155 BTHP match Nosler and near max Varget. I used a semi crude rest on a plastic table. Other factory 308 ammos were 1.0-2.0 also. Mine is running fine on setting #2 as well. No malfunctions at all in around 300 rounds total. Did you have any malfunctions in this range visit? Thank you a bundle.
People have been reporting barrel issues out the sfar. The worst groups I’ve got is about 3 inchs out of mines. You might wanna send it in so Ruger can check out your barrel. Or get a gunsmith to scope your barrel. You should be getting at least 1.5 moa out of some those loads with that optic. I can almost guarantee you have some sort of issue with your barrel.
Check the back of your brass. My SFAR does not like the Rem 180 corlokt. I have extractor marks, and just beats up my shoulder on setting 2. I did some hand loads with 155 gr Sierra bthp with 36gr of varget, and got really good results. Thanks bro..
I have two 16” SFAR’s. They both seem to prefer 150 grain ammo. One shoots consistent MOA or less. For some reason the other shoots around 1.5 MOA if I do my part…This is with a 1-8x LPVO @ 100yards.
There's a gen2 gas block upgrade. I've been doing some research. Another dude fixed it so it doesn't ever malfunction by putting a 12 position gas block on a 16 inch.
I hate to be overly critical, but in the first ammo test video you only measured 3 shots in your "closest" measurements and in this video, you measured the "closest" 4 shots. That skews the results.
Great evaluation. Very useful information.

I appreciate it! No malfunctions with any of the ammo on that day of testing. Since I got the gun back from Ruger I have had no issues.

Awesome info. Thank you
I'm reloading 168gr amax's and my 20" loves them.
What powder and charge are you using?

Humble man
I assume these groups were at 100 yards, right?
I’m wondering if the 6.5 creedmor would have similar accuracy
Thanks brother
Factory Barnes 130 ammo shoots sub MOA in my 16” and does a heck of a job on deer and hogs. Velocity is impressive out of the 16” barrel- 2980 fps.
Nice rifle collection 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thanks!
Looks badass. Mines boring now lol
Man you’ve got the rifles. You should start demonstrating all of them and get on the level of Hickok45 but actually shoot more than talk.
i own a 20" sfar and i never had a rifle which is that ammo picky like that one.... it real frustrates me.

sooo 168 gran works best?
Legit watching this video and have the same primary arms beanie on lmao
Ammo not "ammos". 'Ammo' is already plural.
Big ammo review, thanks. The SFARs seem very ammo finicky.
Peoples is a word. So take that. I think it's proper grammar.
@@AnglingAlchemy not the same.
