I think she was terrified initially to get to the song, after the first interlude, I think she gained confidence and did good. I would say she did much better than some songs from lead singers.

Balu Mahendra for conceiving this character which was explained very well to Ilayaraja I guess, were raja sir was able to get the exact mood of the character in the tune. Just imagine a free spirited women, very independent, gives a shit to judgements having a coffee mug in her hands and dancing to this tunes it will just work out great. Janaki amma for emoting this in her voice, you can feel the freshness in her voice especially when the 'chinna ponnu naan' phase.
