    Thanks for the tips, I did a clear motorcycle helmet face shield today which was badly scratched on the inside. I did 600, 1000, 2000, then Meguier's Swirl Remover. I had a lot of haze/fog after the 2000 grit. I found I needed to put the Meguier's on a cloth (liberally) and really press hard on the plastic, back & forth, so get it clear. A few applications and it was good. These shields are $45, so I was glad to be able to repair it.

    Thanks, I used 1000, 2500, polishing compound and wax. Worked great.

    Hi, at 12.25, it might be wise to suggest you start the drill at a low speed and slowly build up, otherwise the paste (rubbing compound) will have a tendency to just fly off everywhere.

    It worked for me after several attempts my issue was I was not polishing off quickly enough. Did it with my dewalt drill on setting 2 with soft polishing wheel and it is Luke new. I too was skeptic all after a couple of failed attempts but it does work

    As to cloudiness, maybe the anti fog layer, or not enough speed in the final buff.. I also have to wipe with paper towel to get remaining polish off.

    When I do this, I make sure the drill attachment is wet to avoid the polish from drying, polishes better and faster.

    Followed your method but can’t seem to get rid of the really fine scratches from the sandpaper. Any thoughts?

      rubbing compound - I see that Memphis Shades (fairing and windshield MFG here in the USA) sells a Windshield Repair Kit . . . same concept I imagine - LUCITE be LUCITE - just in varying gauges, yes?

    What about repainting the outside of a helmet replacing the vents that are wore out an can you replace th interior of your old helmets. And yes it might be better to buy a new but if you have super pricey Shoei and you just have spmenscratches on the paint. Is this easy or much much harder. I’m about to do this because my visor has became dangerous. But at the end when “redo the process to make it perfect. Do you have up start from 320 grit or just maybe wet 2k then wet 3k, then have the turtle scratch remover come in and smooth ouy again and then one more time? I didn’t read the comments so I hope it wasn’t cover 20x already lol

    I hate when women get all batshit crazy like that.... maybe she needs some 2000 grit to smooth her rough edges.

    You need to really make sure it is uniform with 2000, before you polish.. otherwise it will never shine or you will distort the visor by trying to use the buffer like a grinder to remove scratches

  • @DrAlmurshidy
    @DrAlmurshidy 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Good job. I tried same steps, I ended up with foggy surface, not able to make it clear and transparent, no matter how long I try to polish. Any suggestions?

    I just scratched the shit out of my $150 photo chromatic Transitions shield. Any idea if this will work on that one? Is the photo chromatic layer inside or outside? Anybody know? What I will prob do is order a new shield then try to fix the old one and see what happens. I'll post my results once I can afford a new one.

    This 100% does not work. Don’t waist your time. It’s impossible to buff out the micro scratches. I used a high speed drill for 15 minutes and it didn’t work.

    Here is an idea. Edit your video. We don't need to watch you open a bottle of Turtle Wax and know how it taste. We don't need to watch you sand your visor and polish it. We can actually figure all that out just by you saying it. This video was about 14 minutes, 5 seconds too long. Edit it. Or next time just say at beginning, "you can jump ahead to 15:30 if you have the idea now. What a boring waste of time.

    Nope, this does not work as it does for headlights. Tried on a scratched visor I had already replaced for like $25. Spent close to 3 hours, used grits 1000,1200,1500, and 2000. Used Dremel polishing pad. Used microfiber applicator. Used bench grinder with polishing pad. Still came out hazey as expected.
