Fun fact, the guy who plays Boghdan is actually a PhD in both chemistry and nuclear physics. He's one of the minor characters (along with Gomie) who are ABQ locals. And they do have a major science community there, left over from the Oppenheimer days.

Get ready for perhaps one of the best shows you'll ever see, it gets better and better. I recommend watching two episodes per round because they're so short.

Actually, it makes perfect sense. The series originally aired on AMC and had to fit within a hour time slot. Like all shows of that length, there are roughly 10-12 minutes of commercials sandwiched in between. Hence the consistent 47-50 minute show time.

And the spinoff, Better Call Saul, is arguably even better.
Last year, I met Walter jr at a bar in my downtown area while working as a bouncer. He was unbelievably cool and sat there and talked to me for probably an hour about what it was like to work on the show and how his agent has kept him busy since then. Probably the most down to earth actor I've ever met
I’ve heard the same thing. He’s my favourite actor to listen to when I watch the cast commentaries for some of the episodes

In an interview, Creator Vince Gilligan flipped the slogan - "consequences have actions." Spot on. Gonna be a wild ride. You're gonna LOVE this show. First two seasons it finds its footing, so be patient.

He was right, *69 was to call back the last number that called you.
Love this show. The story is good. The drama is good. The dialogue is impactful. The morality is grey, leading to the viewer questioning when is "too far" too far. One thing I really enjoy is the cinematography. They did a *_ton_* of creative stuff in this series.
Also, season 1 was cut short bc of a writer's strike. The "true end" of season 1 was written into season 2.
I love how much these 2 laugh at this & have fun. I can't tell you how many reactors sit watching this show like a stone. There's so many scenes that are open to interpretation, they're serious, but have a lot of comedic elements too 😂
Saying Tesla got their inspiration for the cybertruck from a fucking Pontiac AZTEK is a hilarious take. W.

4:39 Keith Richard's is a famous guitarist from Rolling Stones well-known for the amount of hard drugs he'd done in his day. 7:41 I was waiting for your response to that after your comment on the eyebrows. 31:20 the US recreational weed laws didn't become a thing until the mid 2010's and early 2020's. WV has probably the most weed smokers in the country and it's practically impossible to even get approved for medical purposes! I have glaucoma and seizures and I have a doctor that willingly prescribes it but because the state of WV says I can't have it prescribed then I can't even though I live less than 10 miles from the VA border and about 15 miles from the MD border where it's TOTALLY LEGAL, so it sucks!
Glad you guys found this masterpiece of a series. Easily in my top 10 fav shows 👌🏼. There is literally *NO* bad episode and it just keeps getting better and better as the seasons go on. 😁

being from Albuquerque, I don't know if I like this show being our one claim to fame. Other than Bugs Bunny taking a wrong turn here. But it's a good show haha. There's a shop here called the Candy Lady that makes the drug prop they use in the show. It's rock candy. You can buy it haha.

Because he's a human being, Walt isn't inherently evil not even in season 5. He's just lost in his actions and the illusion of power.

Best show ever
What was brilliant about this show is that all the main characters had their faults, being almost anti-heroes. Again the cinematography was exceptional in this show. The way Jessie and Walt go up the leagues is incredible. In episode 2 a funny scene when Jessie rings Walt and he tries to cover up the call, and then Skyler dials the number back. Crazy 8 after escaping knocks himself out on the tree and Walt bundles him back into the car. We see at this stage they just cannot handle to situation. Pinkman is so ridiculous in the store buying the plastic containers, and Walt just cant bring himself to do his deed. When Walt says Jessie sells him pot, it's funny when Skylar says what are you 16 years old. When Skyler confronts Jessie it is quite funny when she says she knows it all. Jessie being such an idiot of course puts the body in the bath and the acid eats through the ceiling. The two guys are almost in a comedy situation with their amateurish attempts at trying to deal with the situation. They of course have to learn fast. This is such a brilliant show, Vince Gilligan did such a fantastic job with it after his brilliant writing on the X-Files.

THE ACTOR WHO PLAYS WALT WAS JUST IN AN AD AND IT WAS TIMED ABSOLUTELY PERFECTLY!! I ABSOLUTELY LOST MY SHIT BAHAHAHHAHAHAHA… I looked away for one second and next thing I know I hear the conversation change to being about betting on baseball and baseball heroes.
And even though it was drastically different from what was being talked about prior to the ad some how it worked. It sounded like Walt abruptly changed the topic to try to pretend like he is talking about something else other than Meth.
Marijuana wasn't legal in New Mexico in 2008, when this show was set. It was largely illegal throughout the entire United States at the time.
US states began outlawing or trying to control pot use as far back as 1911. Somewhat ironically, among the first states to pass laws banning or regulating its use were Massachusetts, California, and Colorado (states today known for their relatively liberal and open stance toward most things including cannabis use). Pot has been illegal at the federal level since 1937. In 1970 and 1990 other laws were passed further tightening controls on cannabis and stiffening punishments. From the 50s through the 90s use of pot in American culture was heavily stigmatized and demonized, with somewhat draconian punishments for both dealers and users, a lot of hyperbolic disinformation in popular media and culture about how bad it was, and many politicians running on being even tougher on the drug. (or scandalized by allegations that they had ever used before, like with Bill Clinton who claimed he smoked but didn't inhale.)
A push for decriminalization began in the 70s in some places. Nationwide popular attitudes finally started to mellow in the 2000s and 2010s. The first places to legalize cannabis use at all in the US it was for "medicinal marijuana" use, starting in California in 1996. New Mexico legalized medicinal marijuana use in 2007, a year before Breaking Bad was set, but it was still illegal at the time for recreational use. However... Walt... being diagnosed with cancer... might have been able to get a prescription. But it's accurate to show that social attitudes at the time may have lagged somewhat, in some areas, or with some people, behind legislation. Marijuana users were still looked down upon, and if they didn't have licenses to sell or a prescription to use, they would be prosecuted.

There are only 2-5 shows that compare to this: Better Caul Saul obviously, Sopranos, The Wire, Game of Thrones and Succession.
Better call Saul is definitely not in the same range, great show tho. Game of thrones was phenomenal for a few years before it was a let down. Succession and Sopranos are a masterpiece. Never watched the wire but everyone says it's a masterpiece.

Yeah tbh I get being excited about a channel starting a show you really like or trying to sell them on reacting to it… but I get a bit irritated when people hype things to no end and set unreasonable expectations for reactors. Because then they potentially end up being let down by the show even if they like it.

The pace does pick up. I don't think it's too slow, but upon rewatch, it feels slower than the rest.
Yeah it seems like it goes slow or certain episode seem to be slow yet they did kill somebody in the first episode and melted bodies in the second LOL so a lot happens but it seems to happen slowly I guess lol
