Eric is famous in Korea for his interviews to famous western people, I think this album came out right when he was trying to change his image from interviewer to musician.
Eric Nam is a pretty big deal celebratory in Korea and internationally. Born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, he always loved to sing, but as a child from an immigrant Korean family whose parents came to America to make a better life for themselves, it was always expected that he would get good grades and a prestigious job and make a name for himself in the business word. After graduating from Boston College, he was hired as a business analyst at Deloitte Consulting in New York, which is a very prestigious job. At the same time, he had been posting videos of himself online singing popular cover songs as a hobby. His videos got noticed by the producers and talent scouts of a singing competition program in Korea, called Super K and he was asked to come to Korea and audition for the program. His dream had actually always been to be a singer so he decided to give up his successful six-figure salary career as a consultant to risk it all and go to Korea to compete on the singing competition show, which is a lot like the Korean equivalent of "American Idol" or "The Voice". Eric is a really great singer and he ended up coming in fourth on Super K, and he didn't even speak Korean very well at the time. He didn't win, but it was enough to get Kpop companies to start to take notice of him and soon after he was signed in 2012 to a company and started his career as a solo Kpop artist. The "Ooo, Ooo, Ooo" reference that Jackson keeps making fun of Eric about is a line from one of Eric's popular songs at the time. And, just in case you didn't know, the "Girls, Girls, Girls" reference that Eric jabs Jackson back with was a line from one of GOT7's popular songs at that time as well. Not only is Eric an amazing singer/songwriter who writes his own music in both English and Korean, but he is just as famous, or even more so, for his interview skills. Some people know Eric more for the fact that he is a very popular host of several Korean variety shows, one of which was as the host of "After School Club"for 3 years. After School Club is an international program based in Korea where Idols and Kpop groups come on the show to promote their latest work and they interact with fans through Twitter and live Facetime, etc. The program is an English speaking program so the guests are encouraged to speak English as much as possible. And when Eric hosted the show he not only spoke in English but he had to translate everything that was said into Korean for any of the guests who were not fluent English speakers and translate what was said in Korean for all the viewers. The program is broadcast to more than 188 countries and each week idols interact with fans from all over the world. It has been several years since Eric was a host on the show, and yet he still continues to be the most popular host of the program. All of his successors and co-hosts are also native English speaking idols. But on top of being a host, he also started his career in Korea as an interviewer for Korean entertainment programs, so he has had the opportunity to interview dozens of international Hollywood celebrities from around the world -- celebrities such as Paris Hilton, Chloe Moretz,Jamie Fox, Robert Downey Jr., Will Smith, the cast of almost every Marvel movie, etc.-- if its a big name international movie or program, Eric has probably interviewed the cast or stars of the show. Whenever a big name Hollywood movie does a press tour to promote the movie, Eric is sent to Interview the cast or actors, etc. So he has interviewed and got to know a wide range of some of the most famous western actors, singers and celebrities in the world. And he has become friends with a few of them. That is why his album was called "Interview" because, at the time, people knew him best as an interviewer and he wanted to change his image so people would notice him for his work as a singer/songwriter. After all, he was signed to his company as a singer, and interviewing and hosting was supposed to be his side job, but it was starting to become what he was known more for, so he wanted to use that album to redirect peoples' focus on his music. Eric started his career in the Korean entertainment industry a little later than most idols -- he was in his mid-20s when he debuted -- so because of that he has gained a reputation as being very well mannered, highly intelligent and more mature. He is considered Korea's national boyfriend because all the girls want to marry him and all the parents want him as their son-in-law. He can charm pretty much everyone he meets with his beautiful voice and perfect personality. He is also best friends with a lot of idols -- many of which are also international Kpop stars -- such as Jackson, Henry from Super Junior, Amber from F(x), Jamie (Jimin) from 15&, Kevin Woo from U-Kiss, Peniel from BTOB, several of the members of BTS, etc. etc. -- the list is too long to name them all. He is very smart and many people look up to him for his intelligence. When he was in high school he spent many school breaks in South America doing aid work and because of that he speaks fluent Spanish, and while in College he spent a semester studying in China so he also speaks Chinese pretty well -- plus, some of his best friends such as Jackson, Henry and Amber are Chinese so I'm sure he brushes up on his Chinese with them. Eric is now working on breaking into the U.S. market and his most recent album is an all English album designed for the U.S. music scene. His whole goal when he became a Kpop idol was to use his platform as an international celebrity to change the world and to shine a light on the causes and issues that he feels are important in the world. One of which is finding a voice for Asian American's in the U.S. music and entertainment industry. So his whole goal is to someday become as popular in the U.S. -- where he was born and raised -- as he is in Korea and around the world. There is so much to love and admire about Eric. You really need to get to know him. Please check out his MVs and music as well as some of his interviews, and maybe even some old episodes of After School Club where GOT7, or another group you are fans of, was on.. You will be impressed with everything you discover from him. When Eric was the host of ASC, many of the most popular groups were on the show, so you will probably be able to find an episode or two with Eric and any of the groups that were popular from 2013-2016. He also has his own podcast/TH-cam channel "Dive Studios" where he interviews his Kpop friends and talks about the Kpop industry etc. Its a great inside look at the industry and a fun way to get to know Eric and Kpop better. Its all in English and is designed for English speaking fans of Kpop. You should really check it out, th-cam.com/channels/HSWiYfkKAnjn7q-hq2A_WA.html. (When Eric is too busy to host the show, some weeks his younger bother Eddie is the host.)
Stop stop it remix version is produced by Bambam actually..They performed it during their World Tour this year..It's better than their original version seriously, I really like it! Eric has a new album called "Before we begin" released Nov 14th and he also announced his new tour.
