From a season ticket holder - this stadium would be hugely improved if they sorted out the basic things. It doesn't need a massive revamp, it needs the roofing fixed so it doesn't leak onto the supporters. The card machines need to be reliable so people can actually buy food and drink when they're not taking cash. It needs, and I can't believe I'm saying this in 2022 - WIFI! There is NO signal in the entire stadium. If you got regularly and experience these issues, you are left thinking why is a huge revamp being talked about when just the basic necessities that half of league 1 stadiums have aren't in place at OT.

A man should try to fulfil his own dreams rather than seek vicarious glory in the successes of some football club. Football is only a game however seriously some people take such circuses which distract the masses from more serious issues. I would love to see stadium rebuild again while keeping the iconic roof design and traditional rectangular shape of the stadium&three tier on all sides . Don't really like the toilet bowls designs of modern architecture.
Issues that must be addressed- enough knee space between seats and height to not cause obstruction of views. Roof leaks should be fixed and roof should not obstruct view. Well developed concourse. Stretford end should have rail standings ( cheap tickets for more locals in Stretford end) to improve atmosphere. Facade should have influence of traditional English architecture designs with bricks(anfield main stand design)and not like it is now.

You hear many fans of Arsenal, West Ham etc say how it’s not the same at their respective new stadiums. No mention of the swathes of land the club own. This shouldn’t just be about a new stadium or redevelopment, it should be about a master plan for Trafford not just United. Missed out on getting in on the Quays developments or media city, didn’t want the metro link expansion - there truly is some short sighted ambition-less muppets running United.
My preference would be a new stadium and reconfiguring OT into a quality venue for the Women’s and Youth sides. Make the current structure the genesis of everything we do and retain the history that way. OT could be a 52 week a year destination if the owners had some ambition. Ultimately they have never known the size of the opportunity they stumbled upon.
One thing fans never comment on is if United add 16000 seats upto 90,000 do they think they will go to new ST holders or tourists paying £50 a pop? The glazers want tourists not new ST holders because they will almost double their take per seat. Plus the away allocation will go up. United need to be ambitious - and we will never get that with the Glazers.

Its easy for teams to just say rebuild the stadium from the ground up and tear it down. But for clubs that have made sporting history these grounds are almost like a historical landmark for visitors, tourists. The infrastructure has to be rebuilt from within. The ground can look old school and vintage but the facilities inside have to be improved, seats, venues inside the ground for tourists and match goers.

The Etihad is roomier, safer and has better facilities. Constantly dreaming of how great the past was, is a road to nowhere. In my opinion (and most will disagree) we should build a completely new stadium - one that’s befitting of the club we are. Make it sympathetic to the history of the club, and keep the name.
I’m 60 now, almost 61 - had many great memories at Old Trafford going all the way back to watching my first game as a 10 year old, but we need to move on. moving to the local area myself (media city|) I hope that united remain at Old Trafford and just modernise the stadium. The biggest issue is the rail line behind the South stand, however with modern engineering there's no reason why they couldn't build around that. There are a few locations they could potentially move to, however I think a stadium modernisation would be the better option, or a complete rebuild on the existing site

@@jimstirling8120 why do they need 100k plus? ,if you built on the existing site (complete rebuild) you could probs get an 85/90k seater. With upgrading south stand that would take capacity to about 80/85k. The problem is glazers would still make money out of united if the ground was empty every week. Gate receipts are only a small part of the income so there is no justification from their point of view of such a massive outlay when it would take them years to recoup, when they can just continue milking the cash cow.

Man Utd's Old Trafford stadium that a bit if TLC won't cure.
All it needs is the Upgrade of the Sir Bobby Charlton's Stand with a 2nd tier to complete the original design & the removal of the 3rd tier of the Sir Alex Ferguson's Stand & replaced by TV Screens for all 4 corners.
We also want a levelled new Roof + modern refurbishment of the rest of the stadium to warrant a 90K capacity in comfort.

    SBCS 25K +
    SAFS 25K +
    SES 20K +
    ES 20K = 90K.
The expansion should not exceed the rail track.
Old Trafford known as 'The Theatre of Dreams' unique in style is the Super Bowl of stadiums & is potentially The best Stadium in the country, possibly the world.

Growing up in New Jersey I've been to probably 200 games at Yankees Stadium, a stadium with a history at least on par with Old Trafford. It was hard to swallow when they tore it down but you move on. However, one quality that is missing from the new stadium is the atmosphere. Watching a game at the old stadium on the tv was completely different. The shape of the stadium created a buzz that doesn't exist in the new stadium. I don't think that would be a; problem if they rebuilt Old Trafford simply because of the shape of the playing surfaces requires a stadium that is closed all around. Baseball stadiums can have eclectic shapes that dull the atmosphere.
The other thing you need to avoid is building some sort stadium/meeting place, which is exactly what they did with the new Yankees Stadium. If you want to hangout, go somewhere else. The place should be filled with seats, not lounges and areas to play games. I think that's called either a bar or an arcade. It's supposed to be a stadium and you ought to be there to watch what's going on down on the field.
Although I've never been to Old Trafford I've been a United supporter for over 30 years and I can relate to anyone who hates the idea of tearing the place down. My hope with the old Yankees Stadium was they would preserve a piece of it and turn it into a museum. They didn't do that and it's a real shame. My suggestion for everyone over there in Manchester is if they decide to build a new stadium, which I believe they should do, fight to preserve a good chunk of the old stadium and turn it into a shrine to the club's history. If you do that you'll never miss the old stadium like many of us here miss the old Yankees Stadium.

NO! Not atm. Speaking as a Utd fan, our focus at the moment should be to spend our budget on getting the right players into the club through transfers. Upgrading the stadium is unrequired when there are bigger problems on hand I think. Tottenham didn't have the spending power of the other big clubs due to building a new stadium. It can really set you back imo.

This isn’t a short term thing, what do we do, leave it another 20, 30, 50, years, until the place literally falls down? The ground is now so poor it’s even been delisted as a category 1 UEFA venue, which means we can’t even hold games like the Champions League final - and there would be a reluctance to even host Euro games there too.
