On car restoration side of things using brass or if possible copper plate behind the sheet metal and fill weld it is pretty common method. This way molten metal has something to support it, so it wont just drop off and steel wont connect to brass or copper. Also those metals are great heat conductors, so heat is pulled from steel by copper or brass and this way thin sheet metal warping from heat is minimized. Plate being big enough it has enough mass to absorb and spread the heat on the material so it wont even melt.
you are one of the few on TH-cam that go "all out" on restoring an item, I know I could not afford one of your restored items as you put many hours into them, I was amazed at the level of the skill put into that coffee grinder.

I was hoping you'd reform the grinder parts, however at the end they seemed to grind coffee just fine even with the "well used" shape of the grinder parts. Overall beautiful as always!!
All this effort on this now beautiful little grinder, and the actual grinder part is still a complete wreck. Sad. Not sure how he would have fixed that but I was hoping.
@@Soup-Dragon1 I mean, the grinder definitely still grinds coffee. But those burrs are still too worn post-restoration to give a consistent grind quality. This is still a beautiful little work of restoration, but I personally wouldn't trust the coffee ground out of it to taste particularly good. Still, probably tastes better than anything coming out of a conventional blade grinder.
It was anguishing to see those dull burrs go back in after all that work, but I don’t think there’s a good way to resharpen them. I replace my grinder burrs about every 2 years.
As a coffee enthusiast and someone with a hand grinder, I really wanted to see the grinder burrs restored as it really does matter. Grind size is one of the key elements in brewing consistently good coffee. This is the first restore video that I couldn't bring myself to hit the like button on (I didn't hit the dislike either because the rest of the work and this channel is still amazing)
Totally agree that was bugging me massively, what is the point of making it pretty if it doesn't bloody well work, further more grinding the burrs was the technical part I was looking forward too. Pointless, skillfull but pointless.

Oh good, so i wasn't the only one to find this very confusing.
@@ScorpiusZA. Yeah.
I read the comments further down, anb it seems that a lot of people were commenting/picking at him about the worn off cover so he decided to hide it.
I came to see if anyone else was mentioning this! Why?? I don’t know if it was just to be funny. But this doesn’t seem like a silly kind of channel.
Another beautiful job. So impressed by the skills and care for every element. No cutting corners here! Magnificent!!
The parts where he made his own screws, nuts, washers and rivets on the lathe satisfied me on so many levels.
"I make a new ones" is the best part of these restoration videos. Excellent job as always.
Greetings from Bogotá, Colombia.
Óscar Murcia gave me anxiety through the rest of the video lol but ya made sense if he wants it functioning which is great
9:08 It's... It's beautiful :) Your care and attention is second to none. I also love that you kept the original wood. You've got such a great sense for what to keep and what to rebuild.
17:11 is even more beauthiful. Welding with bare hands.
I love the respect you show every single little piece of the machines you restore.
i appreciate the use of olive oil and covering your tools with tape for cleanliness. it's this attention to detail in all things that i appreciate. also, the testing of the finished product. nice work.
Thank you, much appreciated :-)
you can also use silicone grease to lubricate machines that are in contact with food
Love the way he's makes his own jigs, to make particular bolts.. this guy knows his stuff.👍
So many of the ld time everyday items were true works of art. Absolutely beautiful!
As someone who loves coffee and watches Restoration vids all the time, this is literally *HEAVEN* for me.
Awesome job!
Also you can use it to grind up marijuana to make doobies.
There’s no other way to express this, except to say that this guy’s work is a masterpiece. It’s simply spectacular.
Couldn't agree more
Btw...
Hello!! Um I am conducting a survey for an internet debate, would you be interested in answering one question?
Your restorations blow my mind every time great job!!! You threaded with a file... Absolutely epic
Just imaging my mechanics when people come over
"Oh, that's such a nice coffee grinder!"
"DO YOU WANT TO SEE WHAT IT LOOKED LIKE???"
Oh a new my mechanics video just came out ? Let me clear my schedule.
I already can't wait for the next project. The dedication and perfectionism on every single restoration is just amazing! Never stop restoring!
Man, you're not normal! You make a masterpiece from the trash! Respect
Thank you very much :-)
Absolutely in awe of this guy's craftsmanship...Simply mind-blowing
MM: "That's no good... I'll just have to make a new one."
*Lots of lathe action*
Brilliant work, you are the master of restoration.
I was hoping you'd reform the grinder parts, however at the end they seemed to grind coffee just fine even with the "well used" shape of the grinder parts. Overall beautiful as always!!
I was hoping to see that as well.
All this effort on this now beautiful little grinder, and the actual grinder part is still a complete wreck. Sad. Not sure how he would have fixed that but I was hoping.
Function and form - the grinder works 100% efficiently, and preserving the slightly worn look adds charm. perfect.
I’m mostly here for the sand blasting. It’s so satisfying to watch.
You're not alone haha
Yes, it is amazing - had no idea how good it worked until I saw his videos.
Go watch @pablo cimadevila videos
The sandblasting is so cool to watch! I watch the whole video though. So worth it.
I guess thats why he had to censor the on switch for it.
Just amazing. Likes from Pakistan 🇵🇰🇵🇰🇵🇰
