Saab 96 Viggen: How To Fix With A Coolant Leak From The Engine Block | Wheeler Dealers

  • Mike brings a Saab 96 Viggen into the workshop with a coolant leak from an unknown source. Thanks to Ants in-depth knowledge of Saab’s, he knows that the issue is likely to be loose head bolts, the result of an inefficient manufacturing process by Saab when the car was made.

    I just bought a 1999 Viggen and the owner said that the engine was seized and I found that the head bolts were loose and 2 cylinders filled with Antifreeze and locked the motor. No damage was done but my intent was to rebuild the entire motor anyway. This car is pushing 370 WHP and 430 lbs torque. Fast little bugger 😄

    You are suppose to perform the first around of the torque sequence at 35. Then on the second round 45. Not 35 then 45 on each one. One round at a time. Then run it and torque angle it to 45 while running at a warmed up temp. That's how we did it at the Dealership. By the way I'm not knocking him cause i actually think he is a great mechanic. That's just the way iris showed us how to do it. (Iris) was the manual Saab used just like S.I (service instruction) for general motors.

What’s even worse is they go in about scuttle shake and miss completely the fact that when Edd China had one in the show the bulkhead has weakness and can crack, there was a mod to sort this. No mention here! I like Ant, he’s great but the show is not what it was, it was a better format, no wonder Edd left. Also come back to the UK, it’s about the cars, not the silly driving about looking for a phone signal!!! Ant is a a very good mechanic so can do what Edd did, just the production company at fault.

    Or I can tell you right now you're using the wrong radiator fluid it's supposed to be orange dexcool

    • @coolantkid3428
      @coolantkid3428 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      While you are correct about the Dexcool, you are absolutely wrong about the Peak Global Lifetime coolant. It's not only compatible with this vehicle and Dexcool, it is a superior coolant in every measurable way. He did this vehicle a major upgrade by using that coolant.

    This clip would have been fine if Mike Brewer was left out of it! Why do these UK car shows employ overpaid, ignorant shysters as their lead presenters? I really cannot stomach Tim Shaw, Mike Brewer, Chris Tarrant and especially that nasty piece of work Jermy Crackston!
