What kills me about these products is that I feel just about no one makes a quality one. Every manufacturer for some reason wants to create an "all in one" device that is somewhere between an easy bake oven and a somewhat useful appliance.
These will only get used once or twice, so quality isn’t so important.
@@stevemcgowen so with that sentiment it's essentially a scam product that no should buy
@@stevemcgowen
Quite a chicken and egg problem, given they only get used once or twice because they suck.
@@Netro1992 It's like the tiny waffle makers. Looks good as a gift, but in many cases never even removed from the packaging and often re-gifted.
I use my tiny waffle maker daily, but for cooking eggs, not waffles.
For the toast test, try giving the toaster elements time to cool off. You were doing them all one after another, so the elements were still hot when you started.
Exactly. I have a good toaster, if someone used it before i cant leave it on the usual setting it would just burn.
Was thinking the same thing.
that doesnt fix the large difference in heat to each side though.
THANK YOU
@@TheSwoon69the middle portion of the toaster might have heating elements on both sides, so that side of the toast is facing a hotter area that the other side.
I wonder why they don't add on heat controls on these things, I know they're probably trying to keep the price down. But a good heat control knob and a timer that actually works would go a long ways.
gimmicky gadgets like this are made as cheaply as possible with as few electrical components as possible. hence the timer not having any rotation and the temp control on the griddle being an on/off current. adding useful functionality would cost them extra.
These are designed to sell for the nostalgia factor as the other reply mentioned. They aren't made to be useful
Most likely they use a PTC heating element. Those automatically maintain a somewhat constant temperature.
It's a gimmick product destined to be an unopened/unused present someone gets for Chrirstmas or something. They only selll the aesthetics and the look. So they rarely check if it actually works as it should.
I use my 3-in-1 daily. It works like a charm and is much easier to use than my large stove. Saves me a ton of money in electrical costs.
I love Bailey's appearances in food centered episodes. You can tell she REALLY wants to be involved
She's in charge of production and is an executive producer of the show. She would want to get involved as much as possible.
Ryan Reynolds should play MLK
It's actually illegal to sell it as "Canadian bacon" in Canada because it comes from the wrong part of the pig. Maybe that's why they get so upset about hearing it called that.
It kind of implies that’s what Canadians think bacon is.
Imagine if Canadians started calling pancake syrup “American maple syrup”.
In Brazil its called Canadian Sirloin, but it look more for a Ham than Sirloin
@@Torch82We Americans love American Maple Syrup, although it is customary to specifically name the state in which the trees grew; i.e. Vermont Maple Syrup. All of which is far superior to the "pancake syrup" that Canadians use.
Yes, thank you for clarifying. The proper term is back bacon, and it comes from the same cut that pork chops come from, not the pork belly like American bacon comes from.
I'd''ve been sooo happy to have one of those back in my college dorm days! But for a person with a normal kitchen full of pans and appliances it seems utterly useless.
I went to college so long ago that we couldn’t have anything except a manual typewriter in our room - no refrigerator, nothing other than our personal items (ca. 1965-67). We would have loved this gadget!! Yiu college and young people have no idea what that was like😳😳😳😁😁
Fun fact for the day, how easy an egg peels has nothing to do with the way it cooks. Fresh eggs are difficult to peel, a week or more old eggs peel easily. That's because the inside of the egg shrinks a bit while in storage.
So if you want to always have easy to peel eggs, just let them sit for a few days!
This is why I always wait six months before I cook mine
Putting that little hole in the shell does a lot to help as well.
yes, you get the same affect by letting them cool down like in this video.
@@jeffp7368 I usually let them sit for 9 months and then poof, just as easy as giving birth.
I have no idea why but I am ALWAYS drawn to the breakfast machines
Too bad they all seem to be very inefficient and bad products
Probably because they’re kind of cozy cookers
Waffle iron energy, complicated mechanical fiddly many parts and knobs
Gregulations made an insane DIY automatic one
Jack of all trades, master of none
Why would you say that about James?
Indeed, although that might be good enough for some people!
@@Freakinreviews, this one actually did a reasonable job on everything you tried, barring the level 4 charcoal, I mean toast.
I'm glad bailey was there to supervise. She wanted to make sure you cooked everything properly.
Cooking gadgets are a favorite of mine. You'd have thought it was Christmas morning when I saw the title of this video. Thanks James.
Missed opportunity: "To my Canadian friends out there, I gotta say "soorey, eh".
LOL. Ok, huh?
soorey? I say soar-ree. Who says soorey?!
@@TracyKMainwaring I say sarry
Nothing says good morning like plain waffles and steamed broccoli 😂
Haha yeah, although I've been on a few diets that kinda resembled that!
The thing with toasters if you ask me, is that it all depends on. Is it a cold toaster or a warm toaster. On mine the first time I put bread in it in the morning. I have to set it to level two. However, if I am making additional toast after I've done that I have to set it to one or it burns. So in my experience, whether or not the toaster has been used recently determines how Brown the toast is. A cold toaster takes longer than a recently used warm toaster.
Re the toast function, because you heat the elements and then go up the scale (on all your toaster reviews ) what if you started at the higher setting ? Or allow a cooling period. Not a criticism just an observation.
I can see the merits of an all-in-one appliance. It'd be great for dorm rooms and RV-ing. However, this one definitely needs work.
It's why we watch you, so we don't buy stuff like this! Thank you! 👍
I can see why something like this would be useful, but it seems like they always have some weird quirks or flaws.
Always good to see Bailey. Thank you for getting me though some rough times.
Same here ❤
Cinna is a great name for a dog! History lover?
Thanks for the in-depth honest review.
About 6 years ago I purchased something similar to this from Amazon mainly to make sausage McMuffins. It was able to cook the muffins but the egg cooker wasn't cooking properly or cooking at all. I ended up cooking the eggs and round sausages in pans to get it done. Cooked 1 muffin out of that thing and that was it. The timer didn't work too like yours.
I love your dog Bailey. We recently lost our old girl Cinna who was a golden mix and every time I see Bailey I get a little sad but happy too because she always seems so happy.
Got to love that 1950s baby blue and overall design of it. I think I could use this gizmo while I'm drunk and make a delicious breakfast meal in a jiffy
Looks more like turquoise to me.
4:56 Dad are ya gonna give me some?!?
10:07 umm, did you mention BACON?!?😂
I've always wanted a unit like this, because I live in quite a small space and I'm not allowed to have a hob unit or something like that. But I always have issues with what is the best one because as you've pointed out they all have ups and downs. This one seems like it would be alright though so maybe I'll check it out.
I noticed when you did the bagel and meat... when you showed the bagel in the toaster just after the bacon and sausage went on the pan, the bottom and top of the bagel were against the heat. The inside of the bagel was on the cool side. It looks like it would work better with the top and bottom facing each other. That might have been the issue with your English Muffin during the first test.
Also, thank you for clarifying the "Canadian bacon" part 😂 I'm from Canada and looked at what you threw on the grill and was like.. tf is that? That's not Canadian bacon! It gave me a good chuckle that you jumped at clarifying that 😂
Thank you for another honest and great review!
You covered everything ✅️. Product seems worth it (under $50 would have even better). The heat regulating itself on and off I don't like. The egg took too long, hard boiled shells easy to peel a plus, toaster settings on point, griddle ok for odd shape pancake, bacon came out OK but precooked sausage probably best. Definitely made good on the steamed broccoli, though👍.
This thing would have been kickass when I was homeless staying at motels. You really begin to feel the strain of eating nothing but microwaved or cold food after a while.
I can't fathom a world in which I buy a single all-in-one breakfast maker, let alone many all-in-one breakfast makers. They're always worse than a little skillet and a hotplate.
And one problem is that if let's say the hotplate break you are just left with a way too big toaster. It's just so silly to me. But companies are so good to get products out that nobody needs
Me too. I don't really see the point. Ok, it looks nice but it takes ages. Imagine a breakfast for 2 or more people. A good pan and a pot can do all of this and even quicker. And you don't need to study a manual and tinker with tiny buttons.
You should try and make a custom setup of this with actual products like a decent toaster, decent induction hob, steamer etc and see if it can be done for cheaper.
It's a bit silly but if there's one thing I hate about Chinese products it's those horrible 50s style pastel colours things often come in - usually pink but also that mint green.
I don't know why they use it so much.
I think its meant to mimic SMEG in its 50's luxury-retro aesthetic
I don’t care who makes them, I hate these colors!!
Nope
I’m a fan of mint or light aqua with new appliances but straight up turquoise is just ok. I guess it’s better than boring straight up black or silver like we have had for decades.
I'll never understand why someone would purchase products like these, but it's always fun to see you try and make them work!
Very nice video! I love your presentation style!
Peewee Herman would be proud
@FreakinReviews... James I use my 3-in-1 daily. The 2 cups of coffee are my max amount anyway. The oven is set it and forget it. I put some aluminum foil on the pan, or parchment paper on the pan. I also use paper plates for heating up one to two items. I live alone and this works amazing for me. I love it. I might try this one that you tested. I like the toaster look and the hard boil egg tray.
Congrats on 800k!!
Holy crap I forgot about this channel. Love that your still doin it
One observation my bagel setting requires the cut inside part should face the outside of the toaster. The outside of the bagel should face the inside of the toaster. The bagel setting that way toast the inside more than the outside of the bagel.
Mine is side you want toasted towards the centre.
Excellent review as always Freakin', you went above and beyond anyone else who has reviewed this unit. Any chance for some reviews on some useful camping gadgets?
I don’t know why all of these all in one are ass in some way or another. James needs to develop one of these as his first product because he would ensure each component is perfect. As for the Canadian Bacon, my Canadian friends bust my chops about it too! Eh, take off you hoser!
Great video as always. Love seeing Bailey and that snout camera angle. She’s the star of the show! 🎉😊
A heat adjustment and a timer that worked properly would make this a much better product!
And Bailey does love when I do any cooking-related videos!
I've learned that the fresher the egg, the harder it will be to peel. So the appliance won't influence that part. Don't know if thats 100% correct though. Thanks for the vid!
Today I'm learning....
In America, Canadian bacon ranges from a perfectly circle slice of ham on the cheap end to a slice of cured pork loin on the more upscale.
In Canada, we call slices of belly meat as bacon (same as American). The circle round thing is ham and the slice of cured pork loin gets a coating in cornmeal that long ago used to be ground up peas but we still call it peameal back bacon.
Canadian bacon is not a Canadian thing. We call it back bacon in Canadia
I’m curious why it is called Canadian Bacon?
@@sandybruce9092 idk.
@@sandybruce9092 only americans call it that.
Do you realize each next slice of bread you toast will be darker because the toaster is already heated hot. If you were to toast it each time from cold state would be a different scenario.
@@Kay-ws2kk I think you're replying to the wrong comment..
7:38 hiding from #4 toast setting 😂😂😂
We bought a George Foreman grill, a Hamilton Beach sandwich maker and a Dash egg cooker for our teen son. He loves them. They work great for beginners and those with limited space. However, for me, my favorite multiuse appliance has been the Ninja Foodi. I really do use it all the time!
absolutely a subscriber now, i can't miss these videos! ️
for the toaster, you went back to back, the element was still hot. You need to wait for it to cool down before you do the next level.
Thanks for doing this and saving the rest.of us money!these are so interesting to actually see how this stuff works.
My favorite product reviewer puts out another video of course I'm going to click on it immediately 😂
Oh yay! I have one of these and I always love to see videos about it. I use mine all the time and it all the time
I love your novel reviews ❤
In Canada we call Canadian bacon ham
I thought it was Back Bacon.
@@snowflakehunter we brine our back bacon, and roll it in pea meal, or cornmeal.
I wonder if the grocery stores there even sell peameal bacon (which don't even use peameal anymore, generally, but cornmeal).
@@ThatSoddingGamer in Canada, yes. USA, no
@@matthewwilson9749 Well yes, I was wondering about the USA (I'm Canadian). I didn't make that clear, now that I look back at my comment.
Dude I love your videos and everything you do, the only thing I noticed with testing the toaster, you tested on the different settings but after setting 1 was used, the time spent taking the toaster up to temperature and then on 2-6 the toaster was already up to temperature. I hope this makes sense, I noticed it happens to me after “repeated toasting” it always seems to burn more
The Hamilton Beach is still king....by a MILE.
Another enjoyable video 😁❤. Thanks for sharing this with me today 😄. Hello from Indiana USA and this 63 year old lady ❤.
I love these multi function products videos!!
I Love Freakin Reviews Videos 🧡
The roasters will work differently if you already toasted than toasting from cold.
i think you nailed it when you said for camping or rv, this might be great for the van life camping when you have very little room or other options
Something like this could also work well for EV camping.
I think an electric hotplate and a pan and a small 2 toast toaster would be 1000000x better than this. You can do 100x more things with a hotplate and pan, and it wouldn't take much more room than this waste of space
Never in my life have I thought: "Man! I wish my toaster was physically inseparable from a tiny hot plate! That would be great!"
Haha Bailey standing there always makes me giggle
This is hilarious; I literally just saw this on Amazon last night and thought: “he should review this!”
Now THIS video is a great change of pace ❤
Who would ever care at all about a timer to make breakfast. I never once look at time when making bacon and eggs or pancakes.
I don't think they added that for function. It's just something analog that they could put on to make it look even more retro.
Great video bro. When slushy machine review? 😊
I imagine the timer is both a safety thing (if you forget it's on) and one that doesn't over-cook your food if you don't get back to it to shut it down. I'd rather have that than nothing at all.
My only issue every time you test a toaster is (at least with editing) you don’t seem to give the machine time to cool.
Settings are for cold start, if you’ve been running hot of course higher settings will be cooking too hard.
I have a regular cheap toaster and I never noticed or cared if it cooked toast evenly. It doesn't. Thanks to you I checked...lol. Good news is the toast it makes tastes like toasted bread even in spite of the unevenness so I think I am good.
7:37, lol hiding under the counter.
Not just informative but fun to watch.
Nostalgia products don't seem to work very well, but they sure are very cool looking. I'd use them as decorations.
I always steam my eggs to make them soft or hard boiled. I learned that trick years ago and the eggs always turn out perfectly for me and are easy to peel. I just do it on the stove in a pan with a lid and one of those steamer baskets inside.
suggestion for toasting test is to use 2 pieces as the wattage will share the coils for a better even toasting. I've seen other toaster test on almost all single toast one side was always darker on one side but for some strange reason with 2 pieces they toasted more even all all sides and when you did the waffles they were evenly toasted
I want to say the toaster doesn't isolate heat for the slices very well. So the element between the slices is apparently giving twice the "toasting" power than the outer side of the slice giving the uneven toasting.
I love my toast burnt 😢. I would have liked to see level 6 😂
I love your dog! He/she is extremely interested in what your doing.
I think all of these products are really only useful for dorms, campers, or offices in my case. Anywhere space is tight. I have the Nostalgia toaster oven that has been dependable while not overly useful. But it is nice to prepare a snack or last-minute meal.
Could the toast be getting darker on the higher settings because the toaster was already hot from the previous rounds of testing? Try it again after the unit has cooled down.
Hey James! Summer is coming up (eventually) and those nasty mosquitos will show up again…could you review the Mozz Guard and perhaps 3/4 others to actually see if they work and which is the best one out there, if any? I only trust your reviews…thanks!
The griddles easy to clean but what about the popping bacon grease that's inevitably going to get all on the side and inside the toaster?
Easy pass.
Omg that was my exact same thought, what a pain it'd be to clean that thing!
I hope I am one of your Canadian friends ❤ great review as always, thanks James!
I must take aim at what you show as your toast test. I recently bought a KitchenAid toaster, and, as I like a fairly dark toast went and cooked multiple pieces of toast to get my desired darkness. however, when it came the next morning, there was a significant difference to the darkness compared to my tests.
Do you allow a cooling off time between your tests or are they back-to-back, as this will definitely have a difference in the toasting and will ultimately skew any result.
Great review and your spot on about the pros and cons and the price is a bit high ...thanks
I would like to point out, those toast samples aren't a static test. Each time you run the toaster it was able to warm up the wires more and more by having the machine going. For a more accurate test you should let the toaster cool between 'batches' for five to ten minutes just to ensure it was actually back down to room temperature. Otherwise the mechanism was just staying warm and your toast is steadily getting darker and darker
That pan shape is PERFECT for making tamagoyaki
Ohhh look at Bailey girl, she knows the score! Great video as always James 👍 Happy Thursday 👍
10:03 🐶Did someone say bacon?
I have a toaster with a griddle that flips down from one side. It's awesome.
Love the all in one mini cookers. So quirky.
How do you clean the toaster side? Does it have a removable tray?
The eyes of your dog may have not sold me on the product, but they did sell me on being a subscriber to your channel.
Worked at mcds. U need to cover the egg with water spilled under the pan used to cover. It steams the top.
One thing the timer probably is good for is that you have to use it for the grill to come on, so it automatically turns it off if you forget.
Fresh eggs are harder to peel than slightly aged eggs. Learned this some time back.
For the egg portion and Canadian bacon portion: I wonder if it would have cooked quicker if you had covered it and if that was the intention when designing the thing. Seems a pretty solid device actually if so.
That pancake looked really good!
Thank you for another great video. Hey Bailey😊😊😊😊
When using bagel setting, turn the cut side of the bagel or muffin to the outside.
The timer needs work. They should put a small microcontroller inside. Put in your toast/muffin/bagel and push it down (but it doesn't heat yet), then drop the egg and sausage/ham on the griddle and start the timer. Then as the eggs/meat cook, it turns on the toaster element (timed to the darkness setting) so the bread pops at at the same instant the eggs/meat are done. I have a Hamilton Beach Egg-A-Muffin maker. You heat it up with the sausage party first. Then remove the patty, put in the lower muffin, cheese, and sausage in the bottom ring, drop the egg ring down with the bottom slider in place, crack and egg into the ring, add salt, pepper, and then the top muffin, and close the top, 3:30 later, slide the ring bottom out - dropping the egg onto the meat, then open up the maker (3 levels) and its done! Perfect every time.
Didn’t know if you knew this already, but toasters are designed to have all slots filled when toasting (per American Test Kitchen).
The way you say “eggos” at 11:32 😂
I think I got that from Dr. Evil.
The way Mr Reviews talks reminds me of Steve Brule, I love it
Have you done any reviews on induction cookers?
