The Raw Hammer pearl was one of the first balls I purchased when I started bowling. I bought a Rhino pearl also which rolls very similar but after watching this video I decided I can hit one with a very aggressive surface and have a couple different looks from the two balls. Great stuff Nick. Watching your videos gives me the knowledge to be able to make changes to my equipment that really help the gear fit my game which makes the game a lot more fun and more interesting.
I still remember the raw hammer doom with the max flip reactive cover which was red and silver and the toxic which was the green version and no matter who it was the toxic sounded like a dull mushy sound. The doom was the best raw hammer for me and my dad. It was a beast.
Good stuff Nick! Another cool review. I always crack the shine off my pearls and what a difference. On to a pressing question......Paaaaaallllllleeeeeze if you have time with your busy schedule if you could compare the entry price level bowling balls of the new Arctic Vibe vs the New Hammer Raw Hybrid just to help us league bowlers out it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you sir.
I’m looking at this one to sit between my gold/black messenger and closer pearl. I love both of those balls. Gold is smoother and less hook while the closer is much more angular, throwing the same way. Looking to fill that lower/mid pearl slot. This video reminded me I need to order new pads to surface my stuff as well.
im think of changing my grip to the easter grip heard good things about it like u can get around the ball better which is my problem every time i try i do the ufo spin

This will be quite a bit stronger than a Twist, but a good complement to it. I use a Twist as my dry lane ball, and have a Rhino (magenta) sanded to 2000 that I use on fresher oil. The Raw series is a bit stronger than the Rhino, so a few steps stronger than the Twist.
You mentioned this ball comes in solid and Hybrid as well as the pearl. You demoed, but considering the change you got by altering the surface on the pearl, would you even need the solid or the hybrid? Wouldn't the reaction be similar? If not, how would they differ? Thanks
Well that's a pretty ball. Reminds me of my Conspiracy Theory Pearl. Sadly it was never a great ball for me but it looks amazing sitting on the bowling ball rack. lol.
Have a Raw Hybrid with a 1 1/2 inch pin to control the breakpoint love it... But when that burns up too early do you suggest Raw Pearl or Hybrid with longer pin?
I love it that on your third shot you said you were really "shutting down the angles" and yet you threw it 12 at the arrows out to 5 at the break point! 😂 I would love to have seen you actually really shut your angles down at the box finish and play it like the rest of us house shot hacks, direct, down and in over 7/8 board.
My wife is considering this for her first ball coming from a Columbia 300 plastic ball. My question is about a 12lb vs 14lb she is worried that 14 maybe too heavy. Does the difference in cores make a big enough difference to make her use a heavier ball? (she is currently using 10.5 now)
Hi Nick, How would you compare this ball to the Brunswick Rhino (Pearl) I just watched your video on the Rhino since I'm looking for low end ball now. Thanks
Low speed Low rev senior bowler asked me to recommend a new ball for him. Would either Kaboom, Scorpion Low Flare or Chill Pearl be good. I would ask at the pro shop but they are primarily Storm shop..
Interesting video. Now I have a question since I had the time to watch it fully. Does changing the surface of the ball apply to other balls as well. For example a NU blue hammer? Feels like the balls I am throwing now just never turn the corner compared to the days of old. I know I do not get the hand into the ball like I did 15 years ago, but it feels like the ball never makes it out of the skidding phase before it hits the pins. Trying to explore options for why this might be the case.
I have a Purple Hammer Reactive as my Benchmark ball. Which one of the three would you reccomend for more oily/slick lanes? A. Arctic (or Radioactive) Vibe B. Extreme Envy C. Scorpion Low Flare Other channels reccomend B. Packy Hanrahan (the house bowling) said A was a good choice. My pro shop reccomends C. There's so many options 😂😂
Constructive comment: not sure about everyone else but for me 2 ball track over lays would be way easier to interpret than a side by side of 2 balls. Thanks.
I watch about all your videos but, to me, every ball reaction looks pretty much the same. I don't personally like the idea of changing surfaces. What might be good one day/night may not be good another time. Rather, I think it's better to change balls than mess around with surfaces. I would find it hard to get a ball back to it's original specs after sanding and would never be real sure I did it correctly. I had the original Raw hybrid but had dropped to 13 lbs with it because of some shulder pain but went back to 14 lbs when the 13 just didn't do anything for me. Now, I throw the Dark Web and 3D Attack (blue ball) and find they compliment each other nicely. I'm an old and slow bowler and find I can play the Web pretty straight and swing the 3D Attack. Surprises me every time out becasue I think it should go the other way. Will always be a Hammer fan though I like Track and Brunswick balls too. Have a mental block on Columbia 300 balls for some reason: Just believe they won't work for me. Keep up the good work.
I have the raw hammer pearl purple and it is very disappointing. Even hit it with 2000 pad and still not happy. Typical house shot on synthetic lanes and I had just bought it I really like the orange and black solid but no ball to go to After lanes break down. Thought the pearl would be it but not. I think if the surfaces are the same, the solids still hooks earlier and more overall.

Enjoyed the video.great information. Which one of these is your favorite
I haven’t thrown the solid but right now I like the pearl more than the hybrid.
Wow looks awesome ball
I had the Hammer RAW Anger a few years back (it was blue). It was great until it cracked apart on me.
So question can you bowl that ball straight if need be too pick up a spare???
If you roll it straight it’ll go straight. No ball will hook on its own.

@@jeffchamberlin6702 10 to 14 is a huge jump. The differential numbers are actually more in the 12-13lb versions of these.
Can you do a comparison video comparing, the same ball, one with factory compound and the other with polish?

No sorry
Where do put this with the 3 vibes?
Below it.

Small step above Rhino. More flare potential but not much more cover strength.

Please release a solid that isn’t black. Been patiently waiting for
My warrant is a solid with no black in it
Would you hit it with a 1000 pad or less?
You can sure! Just make sure you have the ball speed to do it.
You should compare it to the raw hammer black
Is your speed by mph?
Yes

Yes, adjusting surface is universal to all bowling balls.
That is littarly my exact ball

I suggest B, something that will be quite a bit different than your Purple. The others are symmetrical and don’t flare a lot more than it.
Agree B.

Is it not hooking enough still? If not, keep going lower with the grit. Not sure if it is skidding too far or rolling out on you.
Might be a novice question. Can a person hit a urethane ball with 2000 grit or any grit?
Not novice at all man won’t know if you don’t ask.
Short answer yes. lol

Just for fun you should do it the illegal way buy not putting surface all over the ball for a video just to see what happens.
The score on this ball on the web site has it stronger than 2 of the vibes, clearly looks weaker than all 3 at box finish. Why?
Not sure why, maybe an error.
