We people from Antwerp, and the rest of the Belgians, love good food. And we love history. The Antwerp zoo opened on 21 July 1843, and is one of the oldest zoos in the world. Antwerp is also the birthplace of the stock exchange from 1531 to 1997, the building from that time is still there and can be visit. It's called "the mother of all stock exchanges"
lady you sure know your foods and we belgians love to share it with the world :) btw if you taught that the atelier has good fries then you would be amazed by the winners of the yearly contest in belgium were they choose the best of each provence and the best of the country.
@@what.tomorrow.brings it's a yearly event organized by a newspaper and it's not only the fries that are judged also their beefstew, other selfprepared snacks and sauces. all people from belgium can send in their pick and then a team of judges do the taste tests. hope you find some good food in holland cause the united kingdom and the netherlands are considered the poorest kitchen in the EU. and i can know cause i travelled both intensely for many years ;)
Nice video! Thanks for promoting my city! Didn’t you have cold with only a sweater?? 😅 You should come back to Antwerp when it’s sunny and try our specialty: stoofvlees (beef stew) one of the best places to have it is at the brasserie DE ZEVEN SCHAKEN near the Grand Place (Grote Markt) 👍
This was filmed in September, so it was not too cold 😄. I had the pleasure of enjoying stofvlees in Gent. I would love to visit the restaurant you recommended on a future visit. Saving it to my google maps! Thanks for watching!
The « eke » at the end of the word bol is a diminutive. So it means little bol. The same is done with the word « man ». Manneke means little man. The french adopted this word in the french word mannequin. So mannequin comes from manneke, little man.
Frites Atelier is NOT Belgian, but Dutch (with a wink to Amsterdam with the 3 x's between the F and the A). It may seem a bit over the top that I mention it, but there is a 'cold war' going on in the Netherlands (plural) and it never has been a good 'marriage' anyway ... I'm speaking Dutch but I am not Dutch and that's changing the whole plot of a story that should have had a happy ending, but became a bitter desert!
Being that impressed by this chinese soup does not add to the credibility to your review. Indeed, there are many excellent places to eat in Antwerpen, but this is not one of them. Can you cook yourself at all?
@@what.tomorrow.brings nope, I live not far from Antwerpen and I know pretty well what the city has to offer. And I'm betting you haven't eaten well in Belgium yet. Unless you're an american and evaluate your food from that perspective.
Bedankt
Thank you for enjoying this video! 😃✨️
Great video! Thank you for promoting Belgium and Belgian cuisine. I hope you had a great time!
I had a wonderful time and will be back to explore more of the country. Thanks!

The competition must be insane!! I wish I could be a judge/taste tester 😄
