I just tried the John Frieda Colour Foam yesterday and love how easy it is to use! I was doing a color correction so I applied it to my roots first (which were lighter), let it process for 10 minutes & then applied it to the rest of my hair & processed for another 20 minutes. I love how it turned out, my roots now match the rest of my head & I love the color, I used 5N, med. natural brown. The conditioner is fantastic too. Will definetely buy again! Thanks for the great review!
Girl, this was so dang helpful! This color looks wonderful on you. I was apprehensive about using a foam color, but this video put my mind at ease. Thank you! Xoxo
Thank you for showing me how to do this at home! I bought this product a couple of days ago and plan on trying it this weekend. I have never done it myself and I really appreciate the step by step instructions you gave!
Thank you so much for the tips. I used to go and pay to dye my hair and I am extremely clumsy, but your video help me trough the way, I used 2 boxes and my hair looks awesome. No stains, thanks to your tips. I am a happy girl! :D
Thanks for posting! I watched this twice before I tried it myself (I had never dyed my hair before). It turned out great! I would never have thought to cover the edges of my scalp with cream to make it easier to get the dye off my skin, so thanks!
I do the same thing you do as far as tearing off the top of the box so I can see what color I used. I also write the date on it so I know when I last colored. Your hair looks pretty and I think I will try this product!
Haha...can't believe i've just spent 15 mins of my life watching someone colour their hair!!!!!!! ....No, actually, i found it interesting and very well done. The colour came out really nice! I really messed up my hair in Jan/Feb this year. Everyone's got to try out red hair once in their life, so i decided on one of the more natural products that was advertised as temporary! It's now almost 2014, and i still have that colour!!!! The company said it was highly unusual, and compensated me by paying for it to be re-coloured in a salon, but that didn't work either! Icurrently have 2.5" of my natural mousy brown hair, faded red (now a chestnut colour!) And some bleached highlights i put in in the Autumn! ..... am now fed up and really want a change but am really scared of home colouring now!!! Am thinking of this John Freida product, but they don't appear to do many colours (certainly not on Amazon anyway). You sound pretty experienced with hair colouring.... is it at all possible to colour your hair like you have done in this video, and a couple of months later, put a few bleached highlights in? From what i understand, it ISN'T possible, but that is what i would love to do, just to break up the solid colour a wee bit. Any advice would be welcome. Thanks. :-)
I actually just touched up my roots about a month ago! I wish I would have filmed it lol! It's really easy to use. I have done it two ways, one way is to dispense the foam into a small bowl a little at a time and apply the foam with a brush, or you can hold the dispenser nozzle just at your roots and squeeze out a small bit of foam then blend with your fingertips. I definitely don't reccomend using the foam "ball" method and blending with your whole hand for roots :)
So I did this backwards in that I used the product and then looked up video reviews to learn how to pronounce it. I have a bit longer than shoulder hair. Coveredgray growth well. Very shiney. I didn't use shower cap...good idea. I used 5N that says med brunette...it turned out darker than I expected. Maybe will lighten with a few washes. Easy to use. Will definitely try again. Shiney. Feels great.
Thanks for the tip! I've never noticed any difference between when I use a cap or when I don't with hair coloring but it may just depend on the color or brand. I always make a mess so it keeps the mess contained for me lol. Thanks for taking the time to comment and share! :))
Sure! My hair is fairly long, it comes to my bra strap (in the back) and it is very thick. I still use this dye and I only use one container. If your hair is several inches longer than your bra strap and it's super thick you may want to go with 2 boxes - otherwise one box should be enough for you! :)
At the time I did this video I was using the Pureology Hydrate line. It's fairly expensive around $100 for the pair of shampoo and conditioner. Since that time I have found a fantastic drugstore alternative and have not felt the need to repurchase Pureology. I have been using Clear Scalp and Hair Beauty Therapy in 'Total Care' and I've had almost the exact same results as when I used Pureology. It has been so worth the savings!!! :)
Thank you Hana! I will probably have to redo this every 4-5 weeks too since I have that grey streak. I think when I recolor my hair again it will get every last highlight fully covered. I am really happy with the results and thank you so much for sharing this product with me! I would have never tried it had it not been for your video including the Loreal haircoloring you used before you switched to this one. xoxo
Thanks Stacie!!!!!! And thank you for all of your help as well. Your review was fantastic and between you and Hana I knew I was making the right choice when I bought this. Now Stacie, you know what that means, we have the same exact haircolor! (provided you haven't tried a different shade) LOL xo Hugs!
I will definitely write on my box top! :))) I would have NEVER thought of that and it's such a great idea. Thank you for sharing and I hope you like this hair color as much as I do. It really is very good and I like that the color comes out looking a lot like what is on the box. I've tried some in the past by other brands that turned my hair jet black instead of "Dark Natural Brown". It makes my hair feel so soft (and shiny) so I know even when I recolor it be too rough on my hair.
How do you use this foam for root touch ups? It looks like it would be difficult to control in small areas like just doing root outgrowth. Thanks for any help you can give me.
That's okay, and it went pretty well. The color did not foam really at all in my hair, and it covered just about as much as normal non-foaming color does. It did color my hair, but I will stick to the non-foaming since it's cheaper.
I'm sitting here with the conditioner in. I'm a little apprehensive because the instructions say to go straight from rinse to conditioner. No shampooing? On use: mine didn't get as frothy as picture and don't believe the reviews that say it's super messy and unbearable smell. No mess and smell is way less then if you used an at home permanent (do they still make those...lol).
I usually have really fluffy thick hair but every time after I dye it, it goes flat for a few days to a week and changes consistency. How do I stop it from doing this? Can I stop it from doing this?
I used this color a few years ago & it did start out alittle darker than the box shows but over about a 2 wk. period it lightened up & became a really nice dark brown, which is my natural color, when my roots grew out I was the only one that noticed them lol :o)nice review though :o) the only thing I could tell you about getting the tougher areas is to color them first, whether you have greys or highlights in your hair, start with them first & that way the color will be on those pieces for a longer time than the rest & should help with better coverage, or use a color filler(sally beauty supply carries a few)
I have red/copper streaks in my hair from a while back and want them gone (they're so persistent). Does this product in 4N conceal the reddish/copper colour in my hair, do you know? I am really struggling to find a product that can conceal this colour in my hair. I tried dying over it in a darker colour but in the light you can really see the coppery colour - it's so gross on me!!
My gosh I never received an alert for this comment! I am so sorry I didn't see it sooner. It covered my blonde perfectly. It was even and all one tone. I haven't had any problems with coverage. Another great product to try that works equally well (if you prefer cream dye versus foam) is Loreal Preference Colors. I highly recommend either! :) I hope it helps even though this response is late! Darn TH-cam alerts!
How well did this product cover your blonde highlights? I have blonde highlights with a medium brown hair color but I'm afraid it's not gonna cover them up since they're so blonde, almost white. I really wanna dye my hair a medium brown, close to my natural hair color. Would you recommend this dye to cover the highlights? Thanksss :)
Awesome! I'm sure it will go just fine for you. Really this product is so easy to use. And so much cleaner than many of the other box hair color out there. Have fun! :))
I am thinking of getting Garnier Foam coloring Light Brown, i have used the Garnier permanent Hair dye before but not in an foam consistency (the color is Dark Brown). But i want to dye my hair light brown but its only as a foam. Question is does it easily reach the roots? Is it ok to go straight to a lighter brown? Is it quicker and easier? and does the color last 6 weeks or more? Thanks xxxx
sobster123 I only colour to get rid off Grey roots🙈. I would leave it otherwise as natural hair is less trouble and softer and obviously healthy. I've tried this brand on my dark hair which has highlights, used the Cherry brown, and it was easy and looked nice. Try and stay close to your own colour and not too drastic, you'll be alright. condition after is important. Don't be scared, it saves loads of money. I was paying £45+ to get my hair done with the same results....if not better! Plus it is satisfying seeing the end results in doing it your-self. Virgin hair is much, much, better, but if you need/want to colour it this is a quick & simple way to try & a great video for tips. Goodluck😊🌺
eli saedinia I would love to have bits of purple in hair but I suck when it comes to dying hair. Like I use dye for my greys too 🙈 haha but sometimes I miss some hairs out cus my hair is long 🤔 I'm not sure. But yeah I just don't want damage to my hair because it needs help as it is 😥 thanks for your help though.
sobster123 i always wanted red or blue streaks going through my hair, but i think the idea is far better than the outcome in the long run. I find pure Almond oil or jojoba oil great for the hair😊All the best🌺
Thanks for sharing this video. It’s my first time to color my hair. Was reading the instructions but watching you make me feel confident.
just used this and this stuff is the bomb. super easy(my first time) and it came out super shiny and soft. completely love it!

I used this today to dye my hair "deep cherry brown". I love it! It looks so pretty in the sun!
Great video and awesome tips. You're beautiful! :)
Girl, this was so dang helpful! This color looks wonderful on you. I was apprehensive about using a foam color, but this video put my mind at ease. Thank you! Xoxo
This is such a great tutorial. I've been using this product for years and it always delivers. Thanks for your help!
First time ever dying my own hair (Dark Brown to Natural Black). It went perfectly thanks to your video. Good job.
Great video very thorough I'm going to color my hair with this product today! 👋👋👋👋
Does it have ammonia?
Thank you for showing me how to do this at home! I bought this product a couple of days ago and plan on trying it this weekend. I have never done it myself and I really appreciate the step by step instructions you gave!
I watch this video every two months... thanks for the help!! 😅🙏♥️😅🙏♥️

so helpful! i'm about to use this product on my mom. I can't wait to see the result!
Just ordered this product! Can't wait!

Great video and you are wonderful and helpful, off to do my hair now !!
I'm getting ready to do the foam color for the first time, so thanks for this video! It was very helpful :-)

Helped me a lot to see how to do it and result. Thank you so much!
Thank you for the wonderful compliment :) You are so sweet!
Thank you so much :) I'm glad you liked the color you chose! I love their dark brown shades. I'm so glad I could help out :)))

Dawn dish liquid strips hair. You have pretty eyes and you look like Lea Thompson when she was younger. TY for your time.
Thank you for showing how to apply!!😂❤
It left some light spaces? I’m surprised by that too
Thank you Hana! I will probably have to redo this every 4-5 weeks too since I have that grey streak. I think when I recolor my hair again it will get every last highlight fully covered. If you are trying to avoid a reddish tinge in your brown I'd go for an ash color. "Natural" coloring usually contains a hint of auburn/red. :)
Mine didn't foam on top of the hair but did foam in my hand...
Thanks Stacie!!!!!! And thank you for all of your help as well. Your review was fantastic and between you and Hana I knew I was making the right choice when I bought this. Wolfkins1972 Thanks for sharing your experiences! :)
do you think one bottle will be enough to cover a full head of long hair ?
Gonna buy this brand in the cherry brown shade.
I have red/copper streaks in my hair from a while back and want them gone (they're so persistent). Does this product in 4N conceal the reddish/copper colour in my hair, do you know? Do you put the conditioner all over the hair no just on the ends?
I have long hair too, i used one box the first time but i ended up with a few patches. I would buy too boxes just to be safe.
My gosh I never received an alert for this comment! I am so sorry I didn't see it sooner. It covered my blonde perfectly. It was even and all one tone. I haven't had any problems with coverage. I use this instead of Just for Men because this blows any male product out of the water. P.S. you are gorgeous.
what color is on your hair is light brown before you put the new color natural brown.
Have you continued to use this?
Thank you I am so glad I could help :)
Thank you so much Angela! :))) Loved your review as well. :D
Awesome, I'm so glad I could help out! Thank you :)
my hair is yellow/green and I'm trying to dye it black with this product, can I still use it?
How well did this product cover your blonde highlights? I have blonde highlights with a medium brown hair color but I'm afraid it's not gonna cover them up since they're so blonde, almost white. hey I just got the blonde foam and ur video helped me so much !! ur video was very instructive and thank you! ur so cute to btw lol
What color is that
how old are you? I'm 21 and I have a few grey hairs too :( you look pretty young too, it's just so weird to have them so young.
unoriginalname04 I'm 21 also and i have greys.. i think its the amount of times I've died my hair. such a struggle at our age!!
hi, I want to color my hair, but I have long hair and I dont know if i need one or two boxes to cover it :( please help me
Thanks
Awesome I am so glad to hear it worked well for you! :) I was wondering how it would turn out when you had asked about it the other day :)
I am thinking of getting Garnier Foam coloring Light Brown, i have used the Garnier permanent Hair dye before but not in an foam consistency (the color is Dark Brown). Only one - It was definitely enough for my thick hair! :)
Great video great tips. Thank you.
I'd use two to be safe if you have longer hair than I do (and thicker hair).
Thank you, this helps a lot :)
My foam went really dark brown is it ok? I'm worried
ok so i know the comment is old but... how did it go? jus curious :)
Please make more videos
Mine didn't foam up like in the photo, I'm worried ( looking up videos since It didn't foam)
if It didn't foam you most likely shook it too much.
Mine foamed but didnt become frothy ):
wow it looks beautiful! you look a bit like Geraldine Kemper
Thank You .. :0)!
👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
oo how much packs should I get for long fine hair?
one is sufficient🌺
I'm still scared to dye my hair myself lol.
