    I’d recommend to anyone using this specific collar to go with the biothane buckle collar with the bungee and quick disconnect. It’ll keep the collar snug but also allow for slight changes in your dog’s neck size when they get hot or exert themselves. The quick disconnect makes it easier to have it adjusted the same each time you put it on. I was concerned it may come undone before I purchased and used it. But after using for sometime now I’ve never had an issue.

    My trainer taught us to use it as a communication tool first vice a correction. I can see your method is all about communication vice correction. So many anti-aversive folks need to see what a happy dog ecollar trained looks like. "Studies show that aversives induce stress and make the dog work through fear. Using positive reinforcement makes the dog much happier and trains faster." Meanwhile here is a dog that's eager to work and learn because he understands the communication. Seriously, aversives are not abusive unless you make it abusive.

      Treats are all you need to train a dog. You don't need Prong collars or collars that buzz or shock a dog. My dog is trained incredibly well and I never used anything ike that. I agree that these tools may work when they are used correctly, unfortunately most people aren't smart enough to do that or over do it. There are tons of neck injuries from prong collars because humans over do it. And I can see people thinking oh well if the buzz works good on this e collar, think how great the shock would work. No thanks.

      Just Fetch
      Never trained him to do advanced tricks but is the most obedient boy ever
      He grew up with 2 elder cats and 1 younger cat so maybe he learnt how to live like cats
      He can live alone and is shy, he just goes into defensive state when somebody enters during nighttime but when he gets that it's okay he leaves

    I hope I understand it right, please correct me if I'm wrong: You give a command and up until the command is completely done, you keep giving the stim. This should motivate the dog obey the command faster. Is that right?
    My other question: If you don't use the ecollar as positive punishment, can you use this training you described but also at some point use the stim as positive punishment? Or you don't use the ecollar as positive punishment at all?

    • @AndyKrueger
      @AndyKrueger  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That is correct 👍🏻
      It is also possible to use the ecollar for positive punishment for sure. BUT, it’s crucial the dog first know this system, then positive punishment with leash+collar, THEN ecollar.
      Using the ecollar for p.p. Can be good ONLY IF the dog is completely trained first. Too many times the dog is set up for failure then punished (off leash free roam in house/ yard with no real training) The dog will not respond well in this case bc it is not fair. If you put in the real time training obedience, the dog will respond much better to p.p. 🙏🏼

      @@AndyKrueger thank you very much for your answer. We have a long way ahead with ecollar, we train with prong but want to step up our game. I’m not going to rush it. We took it slow with prong and now we have excellent results with it. We train for IGP so no untrained pet dog :)
      If you’re looking for ideas for new videos I’d be very happy to see one about the p. p. too in sport training :) for example how you handle a dog that goes find the hidden helper sooner than he’s suppose to. In IGP the dog has to check all spots, not just the last one sooo how to use the ecollar in that situation - what stim level relative to working level, duration etc

I noticed your advanced dog did a couple minor head jerks from the stim-is that ok to see at working levels or??? I have some ecollar and prong experience, but I liked the way you do the intro with the food bowl! Gonna try that on my pointer pup when he’s old enough!

    • @AndyKrueger
      @AndyKrueger  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Good question. It’s best to have a very experienced professional present when finding a dog’s levels. But if not, the lowest perceived level on the collar I’m using in the video is usually between 5-10. I wouldn’t call it a jerk, more of a shake. The dog should act like you just tapped them on the shoulder at the appropriate level. It is definitely ok and even necessary to see some kind of reaction from the dog. But it should be minor and not affect their mindset. Like a fly just landed on their neck.
      This will be great for your pointer! Post a video if you’d like and I will critique 👍🏻👍🏻

But, tell me, without verbal commands, how does your dog know you want a sit, down, or out? Same stim for "bite" as "out". I did not hear verbal from you. How do you know for sure that your dog feels the stim? Sometimes my dog feels it 6-8 and sometimes he doesn’t during the same environments and behaviors. I have the same mini educator in this video. Just wondering how for sure do you know that your dog is feeling stim

    • @cruithin4773

      I started with a very low setting with the collar on my Dobie. I’d then turn the setting up in increments of 2 and watch for my dog to show a reaction, maybe turning to look in the direction of the contact points. Then that was it. As Andy said, it’s not a shock collar so you don’t want it set high. Our trainer had the class feel the levels on themselves to understand the feeling. Like our dogs, each person can take different levels before they feel it.

      Exactly what I was gonna comment, kinda feel bad for the dog, no matter if he does the right thing he is getting the stimulus why? He kinda seems frustrated at some points. I mean he is obeying everything with lightning speed, why press the button?
      And why is he pressing the button when the dog is going for the toy even though he just got allowed to take it?

    • @AndyKrueger
      @AndyKrueger  3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@christinehall3793 If you watch the entire video, I I explain in detail what I’m doing and why it is NOT ‘negative’. I don’t believe in pushing a button means a dog ‘did wrong’ or is ‘in trouble’.
      Also, just for future reference, in dog training terms Negative actually means you’re taking something away and positive means you’re adding something. So you using the ecollar to punish or ‘correct’ your dog is actually called Positive Punishment. It is one of the 4 quadrants of dog training 👍🏻

      That’s a great question! From my experience, researching online can sometimes cause more harm than good! The only real way to prepare yourself is find a trainer that has competed and titled their Malinois in a legitimate dog sport (agility, dock diving etc doesn’t count) and spend time around them any way you can. Find a Legitimate trainer before you even own the dog! Also learning how to catch dogs in the suit is also phenomenal experience in understanding the breed and preparing yourself to own one 🙏🏼
