In the 70's I was stationed at Surfside and had a 66 Olds Toranado. It was one of two American front wheel drive cars at the time. It had bald tires on the front and I would back into the loose sand on the beach but keep my front tires on the hard. People would warn me that I was going to be stuck but they where always amazed when I would pull out without spinning a tire. The bald tires would help get through areas like this because they didn't dig down into the sand if very light throttle was used but it wasn't fun to drive on the pavement in the rain.

We went out to San Luis pass a couple weeks ago and it was so soft at the entrance and so many stuck SUV’s and 2wd’s. I have never seen it like that in the past 15 years of going down there. I was aired down, 4WD, lockers engaged and I even had a bit of trouble.
People in saloons and 2wds should be left there for a few hours then pulled out (unless theres an emergency). People need to learn.

Was on vacation down there from Ohio this past June. Spent a few hours off and on pulling out minivans and fwd cars from this spot after having pizza on the beach for dinner with the wife
is there a posse of pullers just waiting for an unforntunate beach driver? looked like a row of 4 wheelers observing...good fun
Yes! There’s always a couple people out there pulling people out
It was like this at matagorda this weekend pulled a lot of people out just being nice

The beach was so tore up this last weekend so much traffic stock 4x4s where getting stuck the sand was so deep and soft

Do you deflate everytime you go out there?
Yes. Depending on how the sand is I’ll be at anywhere from 10-35psi

I thought I was the only one crazy enough to pull a vehicle out while pulling a trailer

I can't get stuck, I have 4wd. I never drive down there.
