    The X'Trapolis Mega now services all of Prasa's corridors that are currently open and operating in Gauteng.Open corridors are Saulsville,Mabopane,De-wildt, Pienaarspoort and Naledi whereas before Covid the X'Trapolis would only be operating on the Pienaarspoort corridor.More corridors are due to re-open in 2023.

    Seeing the restoration of the rail system makes me happy. they still got so much more to fix though.

      Prasa has done a really good job so far,but like you say, there's still so much more that needs to be fixed. May take 2-3 more years to restore the majority of the passenger rail network. Thanks for watching.

    I love the openness of the platforms at Pretoria. Cape Town Station and Park Station are so big that the platform feel dark and gloomy: especially Park.

      Yeah, i love the openness of it all. Park Station and Cape Town Station are under a roof with limited natural light coming in,so you definitely get that dark and gloomy vibe.Cape Town Station looks better, though, from what I've seen.

      @@marval44039 Ya Cape Town isn’t that bad… just a lot of concrete in every direction. I love how you can see green when you look out from the platforms at Pretoria, and the old station building is also beautiful.
      Cape Town station is probably the clearest example of petty apartheid design in the Western Cape. It’s essentially two stations in one, merely because the apartheid government wanted to segregate people so much that they would essentially arrive on the platform, then split up in two directions and enter into two separate station concourses. Ever since the end of apartheid, the old 'non-whites' concourses were closed (because it was entirely unnecessary to have two stations), so now you have all of these massive structures just sitting there decaying.
      It’s also a weird station because unlike most other major stations in SA, all trains enter in and depart in one direction… so everything feels like the end of the line 😂
      Park is literally a dungeon though. It’s build in a massive trench in the middle of the JHB CBD, so it’s kinda hard for it not to feel like a dungeon…

    What a huge difference. It feels like just a few months ago Pretoria station was a dead zone - hardly any activity - now look.

      A big improvement.The station is full of people again during peak hours.Next year,we should see passenger numbers reach pre- pandemic levels.

      Yeah,when these videos were taken, the Pienaarspoort and Johannesburg lines were still closed. So,the blue train had to take an alternative route(via Pyramid)to get out of Pretoria.

    The blue train is heading North is it not supposed to travel opposite direction towards Johannesburg?

    • @marval44039
      @marval44039  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes,normally it would,but the line towards Johannesburg was closed for reconstruction on this day,so the blue train had taken a detour via Pyramid.
