Nice video Marval, i hope that Prasa can replace all the old stock with these New Sets of EMU,s and then fix the long distance passenger train service in south africa!
Thank you. I appreciate you watching Ja, the shosholoza, and premier classe trains really to come back. There's so much traffic on our roads due to there being no trains available.
16:54 i like the interior design of these trains, even tho they're commuter rail trains, but the interior looks like a metro, they look super spacious inside, they r made to carry large numbers of ppl, and mostly standing. also these trains are equiped with the latest signalling system technology (ATO) im not sure if this signalling system is deployed on the tracks, but if so, these trains will have great frequency without any delays 👍
They are indeed very spacious and very comfortable trains. Super fast as well, which is what i like. The signaling system is still being rebuilt and upgraded, so the trains should be running perfectly in the very near future. Thank you for watching 👍🏾
Nice work! We have quite an extensive system of rail routes in Gauteng - it's so good to see them actually being used again finally. Those EMUs are very cool. I can imagine passengers being disappointed if a yellow train ever pitches up instead. Prasa also seem to have been hard at work repairing the stations. You can tell very quickly when the blue paint is the darker blue it's supposed to be instead of the sun-faded light blue that it end up as after a few years of neglect. They definitely are making progress with re-opening corridors that have not seen trains for many years at this stage. Hopefully this will continue for a long time to come.
Thanks. It's great that middle - and lower-class people have access to modern transportation. These new trains are long overdue. Believe it or not,I've heard some people say they prefer the older trains. I guess it takes time for some people to accept change. Covid definitely set Prasa back a very long way, but they've done an excellent job so far with their rebuilding project. Things can only get better from here.
@@tokelosellosrailwaychanel3208 Oh that's cool. I saw the northern pedestrian bridge between the taxi rank and Centurion station seems to have been repaired - the railing was shiny at least. The other bridge to the south is still broken though. Apparently they are only stopping at Centurion and Kloofsig for now. I doubt there will be much demand at Sportpark and Fountains - at least not until they run service on weekends again.
@CMDModels1 Yeah, I'm not surprised. SA is always lagging behind when it comes to improving public transport and infrastructure. Third world country tendencies, but yeah,it is a good start. Let's see what they'll improve next.
Slowly but surely, things are improving. Metrorail/prasa is on the right track, pun intended. The infrastructure just needs to match the standards of the new trains.
Think the platform should be higher for the new EMU's. This enables accessibility for the disabled and elderly. I don't know if they have but if they don't, there should also add wheelchair space as well. But that can only work if stations were accessible themselves like having lifts and ramps
Unfortunately, making platforms higher is easier said than done. The new EMUs do accommodate people in wheelchairs but the majority of our stations aren't wheelchair friendly at all, which is sad.
Apologies for the ridiculously late reply. The infrastructure is being fixed, but it's a slow process. A lot of damage was done during lockdown. As to when everything will be working properly again,I don't know.
Nice train video

Beautiful indeed. Thank you for watching and commenting 👍🏾
Hi Marval! Thanks for upload this video. These units are made here in São Paulo city, BRASIL! A big city like Johannesburg.
Built in Lapa Sao Paulo,I believe. The first few sets were built there. Thanks for watching.Greetings from South Africa 🇿🇦

I went with it to centurion on Friday!

Are there any onboard electronic displays inside? Informing passengers about trip
Ok. I saw in your video. There is a basic display
It's pretty helpful if you're going somewhere you've never been before
Europe had basic displays like that 20 years ago. I suppose it is a start.

Im glad that South Africa’s Metrorail is finally living up to suburban rail standards in countries like Australia and the UK

Nice overground trains ?
Thank you. Yes, here in South Africa we mainly have over ground trains

17:10? You got off becuase you saw the clinker train?
Yes I did
What is the train speed? I know that on paper, these trains can go as fast as the Gautrain, but what is the operating speed?
Right now, they are limited to between 30 and 60km/h due to infrastructure challenges. Most of the infrastructure still needs upgrading
@@marval44039 Oh nice! Do you have any idea when they will finish with the signalling processes so that the train can travel at faster speeds?
