      Of course, that's all about hours and hours of practice to get the strokes go where they need to go! Happy painting!

    You had me smiling at the "wonderful lump of yellow" comment. Then I heard the gem that "it's terribly poisonous so don't suck on your brush" and my mint tea almost went in my nose! This would make a hilarious commercial for this product. Thank you for the good laugh and the excellent tutorials. You are a pleasure to watch.

      +pinkflowers82 Oh I'm so glad you appreciate my sense of humor! When I started making videos, I tried to be "professional" and "serious", but then I realized that was just not me, so now I let it all hang out! Your comment has got me smiling all over again! You may enjoy my joyfulbrush website blog too.

      Thanks, Marge. I'm using a soft brush for the peony flowers and I switch to a bamboo/orchid brush (hard bristle) for the leaves.

    what's in the plastic box?
    yellow? soap? Thanks.
    спасибо!!!!!!!!!!

    • @VirginiaLloydDavies

      That's gamboge yellow in lump form. Even though the tubes are more convenient, I find that lump yellow is still the best. It mixes well with the blue and there is no separation of color or excess bleeding. Thanks for asking!

    Dear Virginia , dose it have to be on the rice paper or we can use different paper. I love to watch you painting for hours and hours I wish one day i could do too.

    • @laurelponist6300
      @laurelponist6300 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Mahin Khassian rice paper is essential for Chinese brush painting, so you can get special effects like bleeds.

    what kind of paper are you painting on?

    • @VirginiaLloydDavies
      @VirginiaLloydDavies  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for asking. The paper is raw xuan. I believe this was double xuan (double thickness), but I use single xuan too.

      What type of brush do you use?

    • @VirginiaLloydDavies
      @VirginiaLloydDavies  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mayabellod9021 For the leaves I usually use a hard bristle brush such as a bamboo-orchid brush. For the flower petals, a softer brush gives a better effect. For the veins and stems you can use the hard bristle brush or switch to a thinner brush such as the Happy Dot brush. Enjoy!

      Bonjour Philinte! Oui, je parle français! J'ai été éduquée pour la plupart dans des écoles françaises. C'est une idée intéressante que vous avez là. Ce serait possible peut-être d'ajouter des sous-titres....mais, malheur! que diront mes amis espagnols, et tous les gens au Vietnam qui me suivent? Hmmm, cette idée est à refaire, mais j'y penserai. Si vous avez des idées, informez-moi.

      Dear Virginia parlez en Français dans vos vidéos en plus de l'Anglais les Vietnamiens comprennent sûrement l'Anglais ils sont si intelligents et les Espagnols je ne sais pas à moins que vous sachiez aussi vous exprimer en Espagnol ! Thank you Dear !
