    To the current management of Fender, thank you for being good custodians of a great, old, American brand (unlike some people).

      I'm not sure who you're referring to, but it wouldn't surprise me if it was Gibson. However, ever since the shake-up of the leadership, I believe they 'righted the ship'. Cesar Gueikian as the Brand President has made fantastic changes to the line. After 33 years of trying to buy a new Les Paul (ended-up with PRS Singelcuts which never scratched that itch I had). But when the the CEO, Juszkiewicz stepped down (fired IMO) and JC and Cesar took over, it has been a transformation. After seeing all these great reviews of the new line of Originals, I went ahead and pulled the trigger on a 60's Les Paul Standard. Man, I sure love that guitar. $2499 across the line of the Original collection of LP Standards - a much more sensible price for the masses. Heck, a nice LP Special is something like $1500. These prices make a lot more sense, but, most importantly, the quality is spot-on. Hangs right there with my PRS Singlecut. Actually it exceeds it when you factor in - nitro finish, perfect binding, and better tuners. Finally, a Les Paul I am proud and happy to own.

    I have a very satisfying amp right now but after this video, I wish these were available when I was in the market. These amps look and sound terrific. I went to my local music store and took my Gretsch guitar and found the Deluxe sounded amazing. Kudos to Fender.

    I love watching this guy… He’s so informative and brilliant in my opinion and a great player as well. I’m still in love with the mustang IV from 11 years ago that I play more than any other amp that I have. One of the bands that I follow locally, the guitar player who doubles as a steel player in the band now uses the twin reverb to play through and it’s ultralight and has fantastic sound.

    YES... you can get a used reissue for cheaper but the power scaling and direct-out features on these amps is worth the switch.

    • @Spittin_Bars
      @Spittin_Bars 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The peavey valveking 2 amps have had all the same features xlr out with cab simulation and speaker defeat and ground lift, usb direct out, and attenuator for years and costs way less but has real 6L6 or EL34 tubes in them. Maybe Fender should just release a real deluxe or twin with these same features instead of trying to pawn off solid state as tube. We all know there is no solid state modeling amp that can reproduce tube sound, yet fender keeps claiming they've done it every few years. Also neodymium speakers are fairly cheap if your tube amp is too heavy. Not sure why fender doesnt just update their tube amps to include these modern features.

    • @PaulSter
      @PaulSter 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Luke Great question. I am exceedingly happy with the amp. I love the grab-and-go nature of it. Cleans are amazing. But what I have found, mostly with my HB guitars and my clean boost that is always on with my tube amps - well, the amp does not seem to like that hot signal. So my workaround has been to keep the amp at full power, play through the Normal channel (for some reason, it sounds better to my ears, and I rarely use trem or reverb, just my delay. On my OD pedals (I often run two in tandem), I set them just a little below unity gain and make up for it with more volume on the amp. I'm enjoying it, and it'd my go-to amp about ummm...maybe 60% of the time.
      Were I to do it over again? I'm not sure. I have everything I need with it, but I would be curious to play my Les Paul through an actual Dlx, with my clean boost on, and all my other pedals set the way they're set for my tube amps and see how the amp reacts. I suspect the tube version would handle that hot input a little better. That's all I can think of. I am absolutely, perfectly happy with the amp. Family and friends can't tell that it's not a tube amp.

I'm sitting here rotating from Les Paul, Korina V, new Strat Pro 2, 2000 Strat Dlx w/ Fralins (Woodstock '69s), 2021 SG 61 RI, and as I'm winding down the volume (wife's making dinner) from my 4x12, I jumped straight to the DR Tonemaster. It was set at last night's .2 watts, and I now, this very moment, have it 2-3 clicks below full throttle - 22 watts. Vol 2.3, treble 7.1, bass 6, reverb 4. I'm using both my Keely modded TS9, and Wampler Plexi-Drive. Man, I don't know what I would do without this TM. It's both one of my favorite day amps, but at night? The attenuation is the single best amp feature I've ever had in 45 years of playing. I'm looking at my 20w Marshall w/ 2x12, and an old V32 Crate head (just a fun experiment I just got as I recall liking the clean tones of them.

    These amps do sound really good but they’re not quite there yet. I listened side by side and the tone masters still have a low-end boomyness and over-compression in crunch. I’m not knocking it because they still sound very good and in a live situation, these are VERY idea but when mic’d up for recording in a studio with a beautiful, sweet royer and a 57, you can definitely tell. They don’t breathe as openly as the real thing. The reverb and virbrato are super legit!

    Love the concept as well but you can buy the tube versions used for less. The lightweight and the power scaling built in are the main reason I feel anybody would buy these and if I didn't just get a limited edition 65 Princeton Reverb I would certainly look into one of these. I hope these do sell well enough that they make versions of a few other amps such as in fact the Princeton.in an ideal world I'd love for them to put power scaling on all of their amplifiers and this doesn't just go for Fender. Gigs are being played on smaller stages amps do not need to be as loud as musicians are using in-ear monitors.

      They could and probably will when their direct competitors start adding attenuators, meanwhile you can buy something like the tone king ironman attenuator, its almost 500 bucks though, its very accurate does not fuck up the tubes and sounds amazing on bedroom level, there are more expensive brands but I would rather buy a princeton or a deluxe and add in another 500 bucks for an attenuator if i have the money than buying something digital as this even if it sounds convincing, in a couple of 2 or 3 years there would be probably something like an 'update' I would imagine and thats just not for me but I will try it out! cheers

      I must say that I agree with you. The Tonemasters sound great! But the price point has to come way down! Come on Fender it’s a Chinese made solid state digital amp! You can get a great sounding Fender Champion 100 1x12 for €300. And the price of the Deluxe is almost the price of a real Custom Deluxe. If it does come down I might get one to go along side my valve/tube amp. But where the price is now.... No way!

Sadly fenders hotrod tubeamps series are good sounding but badly made amps with cheap parts , So now i bouht a tm deluxe , i just hope fender did not cut to many corners while making this , for the price you might expect some good parts being used in this one . it can't be the labor cost since it's made in china . Blackstar..).I do wish they would have kept an actual spring reverb unit with it and just went digital with the tones and tremolo.The 30 year old stage 112 I have is ss but has an excellent little spring reverb tank.There is probably a new amp purchase in my future.. I believe the closest guitar center has some of these in.May go check them out.. could always buy one and take it back if it doesn't cut it.

      No need for that, since the effect pedals won’t be amplified the same way as with tube amps.

    • @opperlaaf
      @opperlaaf 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ChrisEffort The whole idea behind the concept of this amp is that it reacts, feels and works like a tube-amp. It is also possible to overdrive this amp by cranking the volume just like you would do with the tube version Fender Deluxe. Most players don't want their digital reverb, delay or chorus effects before a distorted amp. The only way to use time based effects with this amp is to keep it clean sounding and get overdrive/distortion from a pedal. Which most people also do when they use a tube powered Deluxe or Twin reverb because they don't feature an effects loop either. Because of the way how Fender Tone Master Combo Amplifiers function it would be easy to incorporate an effectsloop before the poweramp. The Tone Master Deluxe Reverb amplifier uses massive digital processing power to achieve a single remarkable sonic feat: faithfully modeling the circuitry and 22-watt power output of an original Deluxe tube amp. Using a high-performance 100-watt digital power amp to achieve the headroom and dynamic range of a real vintage Deluxe tube amp.

    I had invested in some Quilter amps a few years ago. I found them all sterile by comparison to the valve counterpart. Even my Roland blues cube slaughtered the Quilter for tone and authentic valvey vibe. However, I'd be at least prepared to try these Fender offerings. My real concern is how good the Class D component parts are to generate the power, as they seemed to cause problems in all but one of my Quilters. If those parts are cheap Chinese electronics, Fender is screwed further down the road.

    To my ears, there's not a whole lot of dynamic range to the way the amp sounds. It sounds too compressed. Sure they get the timbre of how tube amps sound kinda right, but there are other factors in what makes a tube amp sound the way it does. This amp has its advantages but it does that thing where the attack of the note is almost too articulated which is a common thing that I hear on solid state amps, especially digital modelling amps such as this one. There are a lot of great solid state amps, including bass amps. But this is a digital modelling amp that models one amp. While it does do a good job, it's not perfect and I'd rather go for the tube version that this amp is trying to model. To be fair, I'm listening to this on a solid state class D powered speaker system as all of you are too and I haven't played through the amp yet. When I do, I imagine it'll play and feel like every other digital modeling amp. Fender is onto something with this amp though.

    But transistors don't have dynamic range, not a new shortcoming. That's why i carry heavy amps, not for my back which is shot from years lugging Vibrolux Reverb 2x10 40w, tube reverb and vibrato.
    Solid state reverb in a bar gig is useless.
    Fender counting on most weekend warriors don't work, wont ever know.
    Overtones, not overdrive, overtone, that's when several tones combine for unique new tone, you need tubes to experience the dynamic range to get that. Think about ZZ Top Sharp Dressed tone, those are Overtones, can't get it with solid state, oh well, look like another technology step down will be forced on us.
