"It's not just a stealth game, it's a puzzle game" The Hitman community has been saying that for years, it's the most apt description for the franchise.
The review wasn't aimed at fans though, it's aimed at everyone to give them a general idea. That's what most reviews are. People still think Hitman is just a stealth/murder simulator, he was pointing out otherwise.
+ProblmSolvd yes that is true but mostly the "hardcore" fans would care to get the trilogy considering it is an old series of games modern day gamers would just critique the hell out of them so I think it was mostly for the fans of Hitman. Idk that's just my opinion
Damn, am I the only one who thinks Contracts is better than Silent Assassin? I mean SA's mechanics were frustrating and the missions were tedious. Blood Money still remains my favorite game of the series though. And Absolution was like a shooter with Splinter Cell elements, didn't really feel like a Hitman game.
Hitman Bloodmoney is my favourite too. The polish on that game was great. I had a had time playing SA and Contracts because I started the series in 2006 when I was only 10 years old, but as I got older and could deal with sort of frustrating dated mechanics, I found I liked Contracts better than SA too. I want to know what most fans think of Absolution though? I only have one friend who also plays Hitman and we both couldn't finish it because we thought it felt broken. Main problem was the disguise system being brutal in which cops somehow know every cop on the force. The second problem was how it didn't seem like targets lived within the world but people would move according to how close in proximity you were to them. For example, in the strip club level the target automatically walks under the disco ball if youre in the room that will have it drop on his head. My last issue was how it seemed like a point A to point B simulation more than an attempt to assassinate people. Truly disappointing to me but I've heard a lot of people did like it. I'd be down for a discussion with someone because I've never actually heard why long time Hitman fans like it.
+GabryyLG Right, but the guy who did this review didn´t make all ign´s review for hitman games. So it´s his personal opinion.......opinion I definitely agree with. As much as I like all hitman games, Blood Money is the highlight of hitman series.
Absolution was the best game in terms of graphics. Then again, any game made around 2012-2014 is gonna somewhat "realistic"graphics. In terms of mechanics and save features, Contracts and Blood Money takes the gold. The point system system in Absolution was a bit harsh on players, Instinct was such a major dead-weight, and it doesn't feel like a classic Hitman game. I suck at stealth games, but these are just observations I took while playing Absolution.
The worst part of Absolution was the abysmal story. It was so far removed from the tone and style of the first four games. It really took me right out of the game most of the time. Also, why the hell did they need to shoehorn in action sequences, into one of the series that defined the Stealth genre? They'll never learn.
Really loved beldingford Manor level from contacts, loved the seediness, the gloomy remote rural setting, dreary, wet Stormy weather, kind of Hound of the Baskervilles homage, but overall loved the whole nocturnal and eerie tone contracts went for dealing with its narrative in matter of flashbacks.
joseph kidman I'm glad you like it dude! It's one of my favorites. And same, I've been enjoying it a lot more than some of these games from 2015. The new Hitman releasing in 2016 is coming back to the same style Hitman Blood Money has, as well as some of the games before it. I'm super hype.
+@psyllerbeats Yep, I got the first episode, along with the "full experience" pack. I love it. It has a few bugs and glitches here and there, but nothing really bad. The gameplay is great, and it feels like an actual Hitman game. I have a feeling that by the time all the episodes are out, this game will have totally topped Blood Money, as well as the other Hitman games.
i loved the opera house cause i had alot of fun figureing out how to silent assassin the level with only 2 deaths, both accidental seemingly and only the targets with a clean get away, best part of the game is perfecting the kills, ive almost figured out each of them in blood money, then im moving onto the bigger challenges.... contracts and hitman 2..... were i so do "love" the bugs -_-
haha im sad that absolution had a crap story and terrible level design :( The only mission that made me feel like a genuine hitman with similarities was king of china town, most of the game made 47 more of an action hero than assassin
Obviously you never played higher difficulties and went with stealth approaches in all of them, dude there's like 50 different ways to kill each of them regardless of level design, and it's not like it doesn't have levels, just sections in them now wich if you think about it ain't that bad, I personally enjoy it because the graphics are beautiful, it gives me another game with something new to do, more targets finally instead of the same old 3 games over and over, assassinations are a lot smoother and without bugs, now I'll admit i know what you're talking about, it just doesn't feel like contract killing when your on the run and killing personally instead of buisness wise, got rid of choice of gear, target info, a fucking map and contract style objectives, but the benefits out weigh the loss in it, be glad we got something new and with some smoother game play, what you want? A constant reboot of the old games every year with never changeing targets and never changeing maps?
no I just think if it aint broke no need to fix it, they took away some of the core things that made hitman games what they are, absolution was a good game don't get me wrong but it introduced new things that have no place in hitman games such as xray vision to see enemy pathways and things to do so lame, and the detection system was awful. you mean to tell me the cops automatically instantly recognise all other cops in the entire city by face? unrealistic and hard in an annoying way not challenging
hitman absolution is one of the best game in the old gen the only disapointment for me is that the story is linear and you no longer having the ability to select your gear before starting missions and no bio of targets exept that it was an awsome experience
Josh Lovez Stuff well absolution in my opinion is not a bad game plus we all know that bloood money is he best what im saying for a nex gen hitman game they should listen more to what the community want
+ismail bouzekri oh I agree it's not a TERRIBLE game, but it's so similar to the game Splinter Cell: Conviction. Blood Money is the best like u said lol. Absolution was fun the first Time but I don't enjoy replaying it as much as Blood Money.
So i got the Hitman HD trilogy a couple of days ago (loving it) i'm playing contracts first and i'm a few missions in but i'm confused. After gaining the silent assassin rating on each mission I unlock new equipment and weapons but how do I get access to them in the next mission?? I'm stuck with the same weapons every time!
I couldn't find a lot of information about the quality of these ports so I thought I'd share some of my findings in case someone's considering playing them. Many PS2 era games got ported to the 7th gen consoles but many of the ports were subpar. I got the trilogy for PS3 for about 17 pounds off the UK PS Store which I thought was an acceptable price. The main reason I went for these is that I wanted to be able to play with a game pad. None of the three games have native gamapad support on PC, unfortunately. I was also worried about Hitman 2 and Contracts in particular having compatibility issues with Win 10. Some people online have complained of weird AI behavior. Both Hitman 2 and Contracts seem to run at 720p. I haven't measured the resolution or anything but I think they are full 720p. There is a pass of anti-aliasing of some sort which does a reasonable job of cleaning up jaggies. The image quality is decent by PS3 standards. They also run at 30fps and the frame rate was pretty much rock solid throughout for both games in my experience. I didn't notice any drops in Hitman 2. In contracts I noticed only one instance of the game dropping frames. Pretty weird since it wasn't a visually intensive scene at all. The game tears when it drops frames so it's using adaptive vsync. I assume Hitman 2 would behave the same way but I didn't notice an drops while playing it as I said. The controls are exactly the same as in the PS2 version I think. I also didn't come across any major bugs. In Hitman 2 when you bring up the binoculars you can't zoom in and out until you pause and unpause the game. That's the only but I encountered and I found the solution on the first page of Google. Blood Money doesn't fair as well, unfortunately. I think it's also 720p but it has no AA of any kind so it looks rather jagged. In addition to that, they toned down the shadow quality. Instead of the soft shadows you get on 360 (based on videos I've seen) and the PC's highest settings, you get sharp stencil shadows as in the older games. It's not the end of the world but there are many environment shadows in the game which have a soft look so in many locations the sharp character shadows just don't blend in well. It's made worse by the lack of AA. On top of that, unlike the other two games Blood Money definitely drops frames every now and again. You'll see tearing when it happens. It's not too bad. It runs fine maybe 80% of the time but you'll probably notice the performance drops. It's the king of port of a 360 game you would expect to see early on in the generation on PS3 but by 2012 they should have been able to do better. It feels like they had to dial down on graphical settings just so they could get the performance to an acceptable level. Overall, it's not too bad of a package but it definitely could have been better. The older too games play quite well. As far as I know, this trilogy is still the best way to play them on console. The PC versions may work just fine on modern machines though. I tried the first level of Hitman 2 with a fan made patch and it worked fine but I really wanted to play with a controller and was worried about glitches in later levels. Blood Money doesn't fare so well as I said but it was still perfectly playable and I was able to enjoy it. The PC version of Blood Money works quite well on Win 10 without any tweaking unless you want to go over 1080p which isn't supported naively, I think. I imagine that Contracts and Hitman 2 are pretty much the same on 360 and you should also get the benefit of Blood Money looking and running a bit better on Xbox.
I'm waiting for Hitman: Trilogy HD on iOS. We all would like that happens. It would be the best game on iPhone. I also want Ninetendo to license a Pokemon card game on iOS too
To those who never played this, don't be put off by the dated graphics and trial and error-like mechanics. These games are classic. Jesper Kyd's soundtracks alone is a major highlight of the franchise.
It's definitely worth buying, tons of value, the missions have lots of replay value with so much to do, and even if you don't like one of the games you might like the other ones.
The hitman game strengths are its level design and open approaches to a kill, getting sillent assassin can be hard but rewarding with unique weapons. Its weakness is its AI which is temperamental and at worst unpredictable. Hitman blood money improves this somewhat by letting you surrender weapons or telling you to go away. The camera improves gameplay by have 360 degrees control making it easier to look around without showing your face to move, and the fibre wire less frustrating. Blood money's interface is more refined with separate button prompts
I've got 1 and 2 on PC, have played Contracts and Blood Money on the Xbox in the past and picked up the HD Trilogy - and I don't understand all the hate either. I thought the controls were a vast improvement and while the HUD is different it's got all the same elements. Sure it is possible to gun you're way through but you're scored down for it and it can still be played silent (some missions harder to do that than others - several beyond my skill but I still enjoyed them and enjoyed trying).
To anyone who has complaints about Absolution...Here are some spoilers for those who havent played, otherwise here we go. 1)Remember, Diana is alive in the end, he spared her, so expect another game with a classic feel. 2)47 was on the run, had no time to dress up or get guns. 3)The easter eggs in Absolution were amazing and you know it (Kane and Lynch etc.) Look past your complaints...really, it was a good addition to the series if you know where they were going with it. Diana will help again.
Blood Money and Silent Assassin was two great games. Absolution is not upto those mark, but the added graphics, music and easy gameplay makes it cover a bit..
that's the hitman theme song, you would probably hear it in ending of codename 47 and in intro in one of the games. I dont exactly remember, but I think all games do end with that music
I agree the only problem is I have a PC well capable of playing it but whenever I install steam on it the computer crashes, and its rather hard to find the game in a store and I'm sure as hell not buying it off eBay or anything like that.
its not a problem. its how hitman hd was posted on xbox live. hitman hd on xbox live only contains hitman 2 and hitman contracts since blood money is already available separately on xbox live.
Hey question about this, I've looked up the Trilogy and I know you can buy it retail but that it came with an art book but it comes into a game like box andI was wondering whether or not there was an actual disc in the box or if its just the book with vouchers for those 3 games
My ratings for these Hitman games. Hitman 2 Silent Assassin: A challenging but rewarding stealth game that on the PC at least doesn't look too dated but it is still very evident that this was an early PS2 and Xbox game. The disguise system seems broken at times and lingering around enemies even in a perfect disguise will be rendered useless even on normal difficulty. It also struggles with you pretty much confirmed to fail a mission if spotted which ties in with the pretty much broken disguise system. Other than that the levels are huge and allow a lot of freedom to the player to explore and figure out clever ways to kill the target(s). It also has the gift of not requiring you to have played the first game to understand what's going due to how these are not story driven games these games usually rely on gameplay to fill in the gaps. I would give Hitman 2 Silent Assassin a 8/10 Hitman Contracts: Hitman Contracts is one of my least favorite Hitman games because it not only had the same disguise problems that Hitman 2 Silent Assassin had but the level design wasn't as interesting this time around in my opinion. But it still stuck to the excellent freedom to the player type of route and does allow you to choose how your victim will die. Other than that there isn't much else to say. I'll give Hitman Contracts a 7/10 Hitman Blood Money: Oh Hitman Blood Money you are my favorite, you brought back the interesting levels and fixed the problems with disguises from the past 2 games by having suspicious guards blow your face off because you looked slightly different from that last guard that he saw. Agent 47 now has his abilities enhanced allowing him to climb certain objects and perform some basic parkour around the areas that he's in. The graphics changed and it is very crisp considering the game came out on the Xbox 360 and I believe PS3 back in 2006 but also allowed players to play it on the PS2 and Xbox but the graphics had been set back. The guns can be customized to your hearts content and the stealth has had many improvements due to the fixed disguises. Other than minor bugs and very rare glitches this game is perfect. I will give Hitman Blood Money a 9/10.
Blood money also has numerous ways to kill your targets, dropping a giant light on someone, poisoning food, rigging explosives, and more, but they're both great, never played any other ones besides absolution and blood money.
just got the hd collection and playing contracts... is it to you guys also so difficult to aim with the ps3 pad? it takes some seconds too long to aim my target, although im a console fps gamer since ps1. on the pc the aiming was much better, so i could get my gun out and kill someone without him to be able to react in any way...
i just completed the whole MGS series and i decided to give this series a try but i don't get how the stealth works on this one, when drug or kill someone a hide the body but some how they always get alerted without running and avoiding contact with everyone, am i missing something?
Hitman has always divided gamers. Personally, as a long time veteran, I think Absolution was the best one. And I love how apart each Hitman game is from the other. Everyone below has mentioned the benefit of each hitman game and thats whats cool about it. What's great about Absolution for me is that they gave me freedom with the mechanics and shooting people FINALLY looks cool. I hope IO continues to explore new ways to kill people :)
Splinter Cell is also nothing like Hitman aside from being a stealth series, which is silly way to say it since Hitman is very unique on how it uses stealth. It has the unique idea of hiding in plain site.
Even though this is still an AMAZING package, they should have took the time to enhance the mechanics and graphics. When people HD old games they should do it like Killzone and Halo where they actually improve the graphic and buffers out the flaws that the game originally had.
Hitman campaigns also have multiple ways to complete that allows you to replay them. And how is Hitman not a original game series? What game is similar to hitman's gameplay?
This was great for me but, when I entered the other disc with blood money in it, it came up with a warning saying I had to change my pal settings. It won't let me though, help!
Every time I try to load or save on Blood Money on PS3 it just loads endlessly and when I hold the PS button the screen goes black. Is anyone else having this problem?
I'm also very glad that PS Plus is giving us this trilogy. Don't renew it for longer than 3 months, Sony might soon again start serving us garbage, like they did in the last month.
depends how creative you are. If your a good shot and nothing else, you can beat each game in 3 hours. If you can use stealth well but not very good at being creative, each can give about 8-12 hours of gameplay. If you like experimentation, you can get a gigantic amount of gameplay out of each one.
I've been a pure stealth player since I was 6 years old! (12 now and still haven't changed and never will) I've always loved playing Hitman, but Absolution was a huge letdown to the series
I loved Blood Money on PS2. Never played Silent Assassin or Contracts and I've been thinking of picking up Blood Money again for 360 ever since I got Absolution, so I reckon I'll probably pick this up.
The only real problems I had with absolution were the disguise and checkpoint systems. other than that, the game was pretty good. I know it wasn't like the other hitman games, but what did you expect? its 2013 and games nowadays are much different than they were back when these games came out. IO had to make this game more accessible to newcomers of the franchise. I personally have had a shit ton of fun with every hitman game ive played, including absolution. Try to be a bit more open minded.
Also, why is no one offended that the first game isn't here?! could have done without blood money seeing as it's just a direct port. Seriously want to play that level in china town from the first game again. I was pretty young, and wet myself with excitement playing that on a PC the size of a small town. Would be so much more convenient on my 360 in HD...
I don't know why Hitman: Absolution gets so much hate, yeah they were changes, but as a major Hitman fan I was really looking forward to Absolution, and I wasn't let down at all, I Loved it! and I can't wait to get my HD Trilogy and play all the classics again! Especially Contracts!
@kosta709 they explained not putting the first game in, also as it was pc only there would be issues transferring it, also contracts on the 360 can only be played through the scart lead, not HDMI so it's a tiny box on a big screen with crap graphics, they have done the right thing making an awesome game playable on HD t.v's
Have you ever played Silent Assassin? That game is incredibly similar to Absolution in terms of levels and freedom. People should stop saying thigns like "I wish it was open like the old games", especially when SA had linear levels and levels with no target.
I like blood money more then absolution because:1)have weapon upgrade2)have a bag sniper3) have a map 4)have all assasin mission5)have poison and sedative syringe6)have remotes bomb7)don have instinct mod

Thanks 4 the review
i am the biggest fan of Hitman and i played all its games in ps2 and ps3 ! peace !
PS Plus for PS3.
Can't wait
omg I lost it.
I'm waiting for Hitman: Trilogy HD on iOS. We all would like that happens. It would be the best game on iPhone. I also want Ninetendo to license a Pokemon card game on iOS too
In my opinion hitman blood money was very good but Splinter cell chaos theory was just a masterpiece the best stealth game ever created.
So much nostalgia with Hitman 2, so happy to be playing in HD now.
Hitman 2, Hitman Contracts & Hitman Blood Money.
Plus the Sniper Challenge that was a pre-order bonus for Absolution is also included.
Blood Money is my favourite.
blood money is the best
3)The easter eggs in Absolution were amazing and you know it (Kane and Lynch etc.)
Look past your complaints...really, it was a good addition to the series if you know where they were going with it.
I dont exactly remember, but I think all games do end with that music
splinter cell, tenchu, metal gear solid, hitman. the greatest stealth action franchises, each one a little bit different but all incredible.
I agree the only problem is I have a PC well capable of playing it but whenever I install steam on it the computer crashes, and its rather hard to find the game in a store and I'm sure as hell not buying it off eBay or anything like that.
They made sa almost incompleteable on jacuzzi job the painting gliches so u cant get it open and complete the mission and the elevater doesnt come
no mention of the pal 60 bug
its not a problem. its how hitman hd was posted on xbox live. hitman hd on xbox live only contains hitman 2 and hitman contracts since blood money is already available separately on xbox live.
is this on for sale on its own? what i mean by that is do you have to buy the special edition of absolution to own this?
i think not. but you can get them on steam for like 5 bucks each.
Should I get the HD trilogy and absolution on Xbox 360 or PS3!? I don't know which version to get.
Not to mention that Hitman: Blood money was already made for the Xbox 360. When it first released back in 2006.
Hey question about this, I've looked up the Trilogy and I know you can buy it retail but that it came with an art book but it comes into a game like box andI was wondering whether or not there was an actual disc in the box or if its just the book with vouchers for those 3 games
So do I play this in the order contracts, silent assasin, and then blood money?
I would give Hitman 2 Silent Assassin a 8/10
Hitman Contracts: Hitman Contracts is one of my least favorite Hitman games because it not only had the same disguise problems that Hitman 2 Silent Assassin had but the level design wasn't as interesting this time around in my opinion. But it still stuck to the excellent freedom to the player type of route and does allow you to choose how your victim will die. Other than that there isn't much else to say. I'll give Hitman Contracts a 7/10
Hitman Blood Money: Oh Hitman Blood Money you are my favorite, you brought back the interesting levels and fixed the problems with disguises from the past 2 games by having suspicious guards blow your face off because you looked slightly different from that last guard that he saw.
Blood money also has numerous ways to kill your targets, dropping a giant light on someone, poisoning food, rigging explosives, and more, but they're both great, never played any other ones besides absolution and blood money.
what do you mean? are the old hitman games on steam getting a HD update or somthing?
People seem to forget we have to pay for PS Plus, and keep paying if we want to keep playing the titles after our subscriptions run out. So,not free.
Can't you just get the game off of Amazon?
just got the hd collection and playing contracts... is it to you guys also so difficult to aim with the ps3 pad? it takes some seconds too long to aim my target, although im a console fps gamer since ps1. on the pc the aiming was much better, so i could get my gun out and kill someone without him to be able to react in any way...
it might be a problem with the disc.
i just completed the whole MGS series and i decided to give this series a try but i don't get how the stealth works on this one, when drug or kill someone a hide the body but some how they always get alerted without running and avoiding contact with everyone, am i missing something?
The beauty of hitman IS THAT YOU CAN DO A MISSION HOW YOU WANT
HD collections only upscale the resolution. What they did with Halo was a remake.
I WISH for an HD collection of THE SUFFERING ! I miss those games :(
do u have unlimited saves for hitman 2 and contracts in dis hd collection?
Compare the original versions to the new versions on a large screen with high resolution the difference is more noticeable.
Hitman games are pure gold, if something is overrated its those damn COD games.
in absolition what they messed up on was not being able to modify wepons
Which hitman was the one a 2:23?
Hitman blood money
What's the background music?
Sudenly this series has a lot of fans? We are here from a long time. People are just begining to notice us.
Even though this is still an AMAZING package, they should have took the time to enhance the mechanics and graphics. When people HD old games they should do it like Killzone and Halo where they actually improve the graphic and buffers out the flaws that the game originally had.
Instinct is not optional for stealth playthroughs.
Hitman campaigns also have multiple ways to complete that allows you to replay them. And how is Hitman not a original game series? What game is similar to hitman's gameplay?
The newest hitman games like hitman 2016 and hitman 2 are the best
This was great for me but, when I entered the other disc with blood money in it, it came up with a warning saying I had to change my pal settings. It won't let me though, help!
Every time I try to load or save on Blood Money on PS3 it just loads endlessly and when I hold the PS button the screen goes black. Is anyone else having this problem?
Can someone recap for me what titles are included in this trilogy? I never played any of them
This is the reason I'm renewing my PS+ subscription
I'm also very glad that PS Plus is giving us this trilogy. Don't renew it for longer than 3 months, Sony might soon again start serving us garbage, like they did in the last month.
Good for you both for us the PC user's we have to download it one by one :(
depends how creative you are.
I'm glad you guys know how to count.
So what's the diffrence?
i agree Contracts was the best, it had great missions, awesome soundtrack and was pretty difficult.
Nice work Luke, very excited to get me some Hitman 2.
It’s a very large casino
I don't know why Hitman: Absolution gets so much hate, yeah they were changes, but as a major Hitman fan I was really looking forward to Absolution, and I wasn't let down at all, I Loved it! and I can't wait to get my HD Trilogy and play all the classics again! Especially Contracts!
Just bought this, can't wait to spend some hours with it.
I always loved the shotgun in human, because it sounds like god slamming his car door.
"And I looked, and behold, a pale horse, & his name that sate on him was Death, and hell followed with him"
In Hitman Absolution you have Weapon Upgrades, a Map, a Remote Bomb and Instinct is optional
What order do i play these in i know Hitman 2 but what are the other 2 (Contracts, Bloodmoney)
We need this remastered in ps4
I'm waiting to get this on ebay for under $30 on 360. Ps4 would be sooo nice
You can already get it on ps4 they took blood money out of the collection only silent assassin 2 & contracts
Have you ever played Silent Assassin?
That game is incredibly similar to Absolution in terms of levels and freedom. People should stop saying thigns like "I wish it was open like the old games", especially when SA had linear levels and levels with no target.
Hi, I am new about Hitman, so I have few question.
1 How is with aim?
On that base you can also compare a toy locomotive to a hitman game.
Hey how long in total is Hitman Trilogy, how much hours can one sink into it?
I like blood money more then absolution because:1)have weapon upgrade2)have a bag sniper3) have a map 4)have all assasin mission5)have poison and sedative syringe6)have remotes bomb7)don have instinct mod
getting on steam. you can get old ones on steam for $2.50 when it come's on sales for 75% off and you can buy the new hitman for about $16 or $10
What's beatbuy?
Does that mean blood money is free if you get the HD pack? You just have to download it separately?
where do i get this?
"not in the mood bitch" *smack* lmao!
