Selling a guitar to a fan for "more than what it cost in the store" sounds EXACTLY like what Gene & Paul would do but, it pisses them off if Vinnie does it.

I think the difference you're missing is that the prices Gene and Paul set might be ridiculous, but they aren't being dishonest. What they find unethical is Vinnie straight up lying and saying some random guitar he's played maybe once or twice is a beloved favorite he's owned for a long time.
Do I think a VIP package, even if I would get to meet the band, is worth $10,000? *Jesus, no.* But, if someone pays the $10k, they can't say they got ripped off - they got exactly what was advertised to them.

    A. Too many sources indicate this.
However, Vinnie probably didn’t sign that band agreement with Kiss because he wasn’t treated as anything but a hired gun, where Ace was more of a partner.
This documentary mentioned nothing regarding his contribution to writing parts of “Kiss - Revenge”.
    His gifts are undeniable.

True. Vinnie may be a fucked up guy, but his skills saved KISS' ass in the Eighties. And Revenge is one of KISS' greatest albums, regardless of era. Not too into the VVI stuff but yeah, the guy definitely has the goods.
As for contracts, I can see that. Unfortunately, Creatures Of The Night didn't sell like expected, it wasn't a commercial success at the time. If things had been different, maybe Paul and Gene would had seen the value of his contribution a little better and offered him a better contract. Lick It Up was a success, but soon after, he was gone.

At this point in Kisstory when Vinnie came along it was the Gene and Paul band, not Kiss. While only with Kiss for a couple of years, he got to wear the new Ankh makeup. Then take it off.
Which set up Kiss for their union tour later down the line. Vinnie gave Kiss a boost with his guitar playing and songwriting that they sorely needed. Remember Music from the Elder? That's what Paul and Gene were up to before Vinnie came along. Plus, they had had enough dealing with Ace and Peter and weren't about to let anyone, especially a new guitar player or drummer, ruin their band. Like it or not Vinnie was good for Kiss at the time but he came with all of his eccentricities as a package deal. Gene and Paul tried to keep him on a short leash. Some people are made for that, Vinnie was not. It's just too bad the Gene and Paul band wouldn't swallow their pride and include the past members of Kiss in their End of the Road World Tour. I would have gone to see that.

Vinnie felt betrayed when fans of VVI jumped ship and became "Slaughter" fans so he decided to get even and scam them re: pre-paid orders for a box set that never came.
Vinnie also thought he was gonna cash in when "KISS" reunited in 96' with a frivilous lawsuit, thinking because they were raking in millions that tbey would just settle out of court with him which didn't happen leaving Vinnie more in debt now owing the "KISS" camp $82k for legal costs.
And according to what I read he was nursing a costly cocaine habit throughout the 90's with his then wife Dianne and, that shit costs money ya know.

Apart from a short time trying to find their way after losing Ace and Peter to their addictions Kiss has been a pretty stable band. @johnnynephrite6147 They sure would & they would slap a Kiss Logo on the bottle of water and charge at least $5-$8 dollars for one bottle of it. They would claim it is official Kiss water and what they drank on the last tour. They would also say Gene & Paul touched each bottle so you have a small chance of getting one of their finger prints as well. Let's see, they claimed they mixed their own blood into the ink used for their comic books (as a former Printer in my past life this would never work) so what can they add into the official Kiss bottled water? They could bottle it at the source in NYC where they first started. They could hire people to fill up the bottles at the source using the water tap at their old apartment or something like that. They could even have a contest, get the water bottle that has the word Kiss under the bottle cap and you win an all expense paid vacation to that old apartment and you get to help fill up water bottles for several days for free. They will give you the privilege of working for free on an official Kiss item. .. hehehehe.
They still have other items they can put the Kiss Logo on to make more retirement money. Gene and Paul are getting up there in age now so maybe they could make their own brand of "Kiss Adult Diapers", Kiss "Canes & Walkers" and maybe a Kiss Commode to top it all off.
Kiss (Hotter Than Hell) Hemorrhoid Creme , Kiss Dentures, Kiss (Love Gun) ED Pills are a few more items they can add to the list while they are making their own Kiss water.

I've always been a fan of Vinnie Cusano. When Creatures of the Night was released (in vinyl) back in the early '80's, it was apparent that something had changed in the KISS camp. The songwriting was better, and the guitar work kicked major ass. On that album, Gene and Paul collaborated with Vinnie (and his friends from the Bryan Adams circle of musicians) in ways that they hadn't done with Ace. Vinnie Vincent (as the Ankh) had arrived. After the success of Lick It Up, it looked like VV might become a permanent member. Wishful thinking, I guess. Animalize was pretty damn good but the next three albums were mostly duds. Revenge took KISS to new heights but not much mattered after the KISS with Make-up Reunion Tour that took the world by storm in the late '90's.

I think the line-up of Gene, Paul, Ace and Peter could never ever be beat, it was magic, and for me (a Kiss fan from the begining ) love Ace's guitar style, his Solo album was by far my favorite of the four, Gene even in newer interviews never fails to take a jab at Ace's and Peter's expense, just redicuculos and so ungrateful, just my opinion, be safe all

I am mesmerized by this guy. I remember in high school when the VVI debut album was released, my local record store had a huge display of the album. The whole thing was over the top, especially the vocals and the insane guitar solos. When they released All Systems Go, I was glad that Mark Slaughter was now the singer. I just couldn't handle Robert's vocals. ASG was better (just my opinion) in every way imaginable: songs were better, solos were more restrained, vocals were actually listenable. Years later, I can't remember where, I bought the Euphoria album. Cool to hear Vinnie again. Didn't need another set of songs with Robert singing, but whatever. Here we are in 2025 and I would love to hear some new VV music. Somehow I doubt that'll ever happen, which makes Vinnie even more interesting. Everyone who knows him says he's ridiculously talented as a songwriter and singer. He's been MIA (in terms of releasing music) since 1996. I'm guessing (hoping) he has some amazing vault of material that he could release. If he doesn't, then what's he been doing all these years since Euphoria???

"Was/Is Vinnie a "difficult person?" is a limiting question. If he's a perfectionist & a control freak (I understand that - I'm both, too), it's no wonder that he & Gene Simmons butted heads. Gene's a major control freak, & I think Paul is, too, but to a lesser extent. Put them together + Vinnie, & they bring out the worst in each other. Perfectionism makes a person very difficult to deal with b/c whatever they're doing is NEVER good enough; God forbid there should be others involved. I agree with the post below that Vinnie's worst enemy is himself. I wish him well & hope he finds what he's still searching for. ❤❤

I am on the side of Vinny. I feel like Gene and Paul are some of the biggest hypocrites ever in rock music. They do a lot of do as I say not as I do and when they get someone who is better than them, they put them down. Vinny helped resurrect their career not just once with Creatures of the Night but also with revenge. This was unfortunately left out of this story. After Vinny suitcase in the 80s and lost, he found a sort of redemption by bumping into Gene Simmons in the early 90s when Kiss was literally broke and worked with them to write songs for the revenge out, including unholy. Yes, then Vinny sued kiss again. Fast forward to when Gene Simmons did his vault experience. He invited Vinny to come out that says a lot, and like him or hate him the rock world is full of people who praise major scumbags such as Steven Tyler and Jimmy page. Vinny is eccentric and strange and there is a question if he is transgendered, but how does that affect anything of what he was as an awesomeguitarist.

Vinnie Vincent...an enigma wrapped in a mystery and hidden in a pizza box before being dropped off a balcony onto an old lady walking her poodle.
