    If you want you can make a lay bin in her tank in case she want to lay her eggs. Sometimes when the beardy is big you can't really feel the eggs that well.

    Hi! I know it's been a while since you posted, but on the off chance you're still around, I wanted to specifically ask you this because you are the most obviously knowledgeable one I've come across on here. Anyway...
    My female is VERY ready to lay her first ever clutch (and yes, I had her unknowingly housed with a male so she's likely not going to lay duds). Now, it took me and bf a while to figure out what was going on. We are first time owners, but we are diligent in our research and once we discover something like this, we get 100% on it. So it is apparent to me now that she's been ready for the last few days. Tonight she has been particularly feisty. She keeps trying to burrow/dig under the substrate we have (which is just felt), she waves her hand at us through the glass and tries to climb the sides, she didn't eat for a while, and so on.
    My question is fairly simple though: In the event of an emergency, where Lowe's and Home Depot, etc. are closed for the day, is it OK to use anything else at all? Some kind of soil with no chemicals perhaps? I imagine she could probably survive overnight, but I'm a worrier when it comes to my animals--I want to know she's alright in her lay bin so I myself can rest tonight.
    Please wb if you happen to see this. TIA.

  • @freedomfitness8720
    @freedomfitness8720 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Michael, there is not a day that goes by that I don't cry since I missed the signs that my beardie is gravid with unfertilized eggs. Has dystocia. Nowhere does it say that a female bearded dragon could be scratching at corners because she has eggs. Nobody ever told me that so I never had a light box for her because I did not know females could get pregnant without having been with a male. In the bearded dragon general care videos, people need to discuss how important it is to not always blame everything improper lighting or lack of vitamins or lack of proper hydration. Sometimes a bearded dragon will stop eating, become lethargic and claw at the corners because she's got eggs! Please tell your beardie friends. If you provide a light box then if your beard he has eggs, she will have a place to go and they will not get stuck in her. I'm sorry for sounding angry but I'm angry at myself and that there are not enough vids on this topic. Even the vet didn't warn me for what to look for during her well visit check ups!! Husband won't pay the 1,400 for surgery to get the eggs out. Any advice is welcome.

    I got pretty confused with your recommendations for feeding a pregnant female bearded dragon. How i understood it is to feed her after the laying but during it not to feed her at all. Mine has just started to eat vegetables at 2 years old (was mainly fed on meal worms and woodies at the old owners home. So is it okay to still feed her a normal mixed diet of veggies and meats scince she has never actually eaten veggies before 2 weeks ago with me? in other words can you please post what you feed your dragons piror, mid and after laying.
    Thanks

    • @evokiller3030
      @evokiller3030 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Darcy Piper I would feed her greens in the morning before she wants to start digging and in the evening once she is done digging for the day
      If she is in the process of laying don't feed her until after she is done laying

      You put them in the tub when they start running around the tank trying to dig somewhere. This should happen 4-6 weeks after mating.

    So I have a Citrus Sunburst female that I have been breeding to a German Giant Green Pastel, but the Pastel passed away. So now I'm looking to buy a new mate for my Citrus and I was wondering what you thing would best pair up with her. I was thinking about a dunner but I wasn't sure. I will be going to the reptile super show in downtown SD this Nov. 2-3 and that's when I plan to buy the new berdie. It would be great if you could get back to me with this. Thank you.

    • @wolfknockemout4382
      @wolfknockemout4382 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      HeyItsZoie What I would recommend, is keep a look out for her behavior. If her beard starts turning black, she’s ovulating & ready to breed. Afterwards, I would check in with a veterinarian & ask if she’s in that egg laying state. But always watch out for her behavior.

Should I keep her in my garage when she is going to lay eggs, how much should I feed her? Should I keep one of the babys with the mom? And if there is anything else I need to know please tell me

So I put her in with my male today and as soon a I put her in he ran Over and started biting her on the neck and then he just stopped. I left them together all day I watched them most of te time and I'm pretty sur they didn't breed. I was wondering if you had any tips on how to get them to breed. I was also wondering how long u keep them together and how long you separate them. Thanks.

    Why are pinkies frowned upon for feeding?

      - Symphonix - it's hard for bearded dragons to digest it, they don't eat rodents in the wild.

      A really small mouse. When they're born they are pink.

    I think my beardie is gravid but she hasn't mated - we're complete novices and only realized our bearded was a female this morning (we were told she was male, sexed her using your other video and he is a female)
    She's been digging in her viv every day for the past few days, her belly is fatter then it should be (we thought he was just getting fat) but we can't feel any eggs in the belly when pressing (very gently). We set up a small bin in a washing up bowl but not sure it's ok! Advice please!

      I think that most lizards even when not pregnant naturally produce eggs and they have to empty them out.sorry if this is late

    How long did it take her to dig the first hole?
