Once again you bring me to tears. I am a child of the south, of the Gulf, of the bugs, of the humidity, of the dark I can still remember the stars, the Milky Way before the light took over. I can remember my mother slapping my teenage cousin for saying the n word. It is one of the only proud memories I have of my mother. BOI meant Born On the Island of Galveston, but now I am in Florida, and Texas seems so far away. But in this age so similar. There is no home to go to anymore. But the memories - the jasmine, the cicadas, the toads, the Milky Way. Forever in my heart. Thank you again, Anis.
Wow. I'm so pleased to hear it not only was true for him, but so resonated with you that it captivated you so fully. This brings me nearly as much joy as the poem itself. Thank you, Cyn. The bugs and the Gulf and the Milky Way all sound mystical and fine and warm.
Perhaps the only thing that can be given greater than now is to SHARE this now with others ✨️...wrap'm up with love, grace, lust, feeling, touch, support,... anything n' everything that embraces ♥️
he's my favorite, gosh he's so talented.
'By learning & speaking something's name it lessens it's power over us.' Taking that with me :) Thank you Anis.
He's like the human version of a John Steinbeck book.
