No, Hagia Sofia is not "staying true to its name" as a mosque. It's true identity is a Catholic church as originally intended and built. The "holy wisdom" is to leave it as a church or at minimum a world heritage museum.

Nobody destroyed the building. It is still there. When Ottoman won the battle, they had ability to destroy it completely like the Rome Byzantine did to Jews Synagog in Jerusalem. they didnt destroyed it but they just converted it to other function as mosque.
