    I went through the "offcial" process of cancelling and refunding my TV license around 2 years ago.
    After going through that hassle, I can understand completely why so many haven't cancelled.
    You can do it online, but it asks questions and makes requests for information no other service does, despite the fact I had a BBC TV licensing account, which I'd used to purchase the license, it wanted me to send in a scanned copy of my ID and TWO scanned bills for my address
    And then of course every page was laced with veiled threats of prosecution if I dared watch live tv without a license.
    I keep thinking to myself, this IS 2023 right? It's just mind blowing.
    I wouldn't be at all surprised to see the TV license fee scrapped in a few years, but, I also suspect they'll tack it onto everyone's income tax or council tax because the BBC is sooooooo priceless. (Gag)

    If it's not a live TV channel that's broadcasting on TH-cam you don't need a licence. TVL are telling people who cancel they want a wet signature when they try to cancel the licence. They are sending letters to get a signature on them. Just cancel the DD then tell them you want a refund if they send the letter email them saying your not signing squat and they have X days to get the refund in your bank or you take action in the county court without further notice to them. I think they will back down and issue the refund because if they don't you go to the county court and get a judgement against them then you can send in bailiffs if they still don't issue the refund after being notified that there is a judgement against them and you are giving them another X days to put the money in your account and costs if awarded them.

    You do not need a TVLicence for live stream TH-cam, unless it is from a recognised broadcaster with a licence. Eg. BBC, ITV,Sky regular live streams from private people do not require a licence.

    You need a tv license to watch any youtuber's live stream?

    • @shorty4901
      @shorty4901  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Apparently not, its not a tv company.

    • @mikeypeters7003

      No you don’t. Only a recognised broadcaster. The ambiguity it what the bbc rely on to trick people.

      no although avoid any youtbe live stream showing a live sporting event or tv broadcast

      @@Sarge92 You have a good point there. As I would be technically watching a live stream from a broadcaster.

      @@mikeypeters7003 basically the bbc think if in anyway the tv over the air broadcast system is used you gotta pay
      so watching world cup might be on youtube but thats also being broadcast over the air so you should chip in to help pay for the ota side of things
      pewdiepie or mr beast or hell shorty 4901 however is not a television broadcaster there streams are fine

    Do you guys have BritBox? and then do you have to have a license for it to watch it when you pay for it?

    • @shorty4901
      @shorty4901  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Britbox is an itv/bbc studios streaming service where you can watch all the programmes funded by licence payers, but not available to them any more. It is on demand service, BUT, it says they have contractually obligated adverts that contain live or broadcast tv. That is probably to make sure you need a tv licence to watch it. But I am no expert, and would suggest seeking further advice.

    • @mikeypeters7003

      Only streaming service you need a licence for it Iplayer. Britbox and ITVX are a crossover between each other, so no licence needed. Unless you watch live, on the service.

      @@shorty4901 I was just asking because it does have BBC programs. I live in the United States, and we do not have tv licensing here. We just have free over the air with an antenna or pay for a tv service, most common is directv and cable tv service.

    I Know this is nothing to do with the subject matter of the video, I see the Never mind the Bollocks poster and that you have a guitar so I'm guessing you like(d) Punk and maybe play(ed) in a band? Anyway keep up the videos and don't forget, If you can, to do a video to start that campaign yes?

    • @shorty4901
      @shorty4901  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, campaign video is next. Yes I like punk, grew up in that era. I play guitar a bit, never in a band, other than a recording band. If you're interested check out icini tribe on soundcloud.
