Its a bit tricky and scary don't get me wrong, this is why i recorded the video the first time i tried it, so it can be visible every mistake i make and to show everyone that i am reading every single thing before doing it, like this hopefully people understand that is risky and can brick their device. I spend some time with it and this is what i have so far:
1. Performance is not the best, you can do some web browsing and even installing windows applications like photoshop, with a stylus it can give a decent performance but not the best.
2. Sound doesn't work, so you will need a bluetooth speaker if you want sound
3. Because sound doesn't work ,most of the apps that require sound (like games) youll have to always have a bluetooth device connected to start.
4. Calls doesnt work at the moment,but sms works. You can send SMS messages from Windows 11, but you cant receive phone calls ( but for some reason if someone calls you it will ring on their side, is just your phone who wont ring)
5. Internet via SIM work
Keep in mind you will be able to boot into android when you want,so you will have both android and windows installed, but you will need a computer every time you want to boot into windows, once you booted windows it will stay in windows until you restart it
Please read before trying to see if its ok for you, if not wait for an update as i will follow up with every single fix the developers are doing.

I won't install it for games as you don't get a good experience

Can you still make phone calls after installing Windows 11?
You can dual boot, so you can boot back into android and windows when you want. If you're booting in windows you won't be able to make phone calls, but you will be able to send sms and use your sim for Internet
Great video! I'm going to try this. Is it possible to update Windows from the Duo itself, or should you re-install it? And, do you need a Windows license to make it work?
You update duo via adb, you don't need to reinstall it. You don't need a license
@@techforlife91 So, just to be clear... You cannot update from the windows update menu on the duo itself (I mean the weekly patches)?
Sorry i missunderstood, yes you can update using windows updates everything except windows versions.. When a new version of windows is released you'll need to update it via adb

Hi. After you download google adb drivers move it to C drive, them open a cmd from the folder ( example: c:\adb\ and type fastboot devices
I have followed your tutorial (which is wonderful !!!) - and everything worked fine, but after booting into windows 11 - within the screen where to select Wifi Network (49:05)
I was unable to proceed (Button continue was disabled and no networks where shown)
Reboot - but Windows doesn't start anymore...(cat image with green flag doesn't disapperars)
I'm back to Android 12 - it works
I have tried a second attempt - but now within the first windows-boot, I only get a Blue Screen
"Inaccessible Boot Device"
Hi, I'm so sorry for the late reply, i didn't receive your comments notifications until now. The cat screen its not something you did wrong its the Windows download. When you make the windows image make sure you're internet is not doing nothing else, for some reason if you have bad connection will start skipping files, this was eventually reported in the official telegram group and I didn't know until after i.made the video, I'll update the description now with this. All you have to do is delete everything downloaded from Windows and redownload it, then try installing it. This is whap people reported fix the issue

Windows 11 and a custom rom android 13 pixel experience also works , but its not optimise for 2 screens, it will see both screens as 1

No. You just put your phone in adb mode and just start writing the codes, takes about 10-15 min depending on your pc
Some weeks later... I got a new device 🙂 and tried the procedure again
But I'm still stuck at the same point as before:
After booting into windows 11 - within the screen where to select Wifi Network (49:05) - I am unable to proceed

Have to try closing the hinge and open it after 10 seconds?

Can we use Outlook 365 on Duo with Windows 11? Same way as we use on laptop.

@@techforlife91 Hi,thank you for your reply. Now my surface duo can’t use ADB commands. I learned that it can only be flashed through 9008 mode. Now I can’t find the firehose file for flashing. I found a few on the Internet, prog_ufs_firehose_sdm855_ddr.elf, but none of them can be used. Unzipping in the official recovery.img did not find it.
@user-xz2yz5ij5o hi, can you be more specific. Why adb commands doesn't work? Do you get any error codes?
@@techforlife91 OK, let me explain the process in detail.When I installed windows, there was a step in the middle of which it would automatically restart into recovery, but the restart did not enter normally, so I had no choice but to interrupt it. Then I can’t start it up. Now there is no display on the screen, no response when starting up, and there will be a prompt sound after connecting to the computer. You can see port 9008 in the port of the computer device manager, but you can’t enter fastboot because there is no display on the screen. There is no way to use ADB commands to flash the machine.Some people suggested that the 9008 mode can be used to flash the phone. I tried it and needed a firehose file. Several other mobile phone brands I found online could not be used. Now I have to find the firehose file of surface duo, try to see if I can backup the boot partition of other mobile phones through the 9008 mode, and then use the 9008 mode to fix it.

I followed your tutorial. At the end, the phone attempted to boot into Windows, but would not. I restarted it and it would NOT want to boot. It got stuck with the cat image with the green flag. I then proceeded to reinstall Windows ALL OVER AGAIN, via the steps provided on their website. Now, it is stuck on a screen with a cable going into a device and a QR code at the bottom. Any idea what I should do from here? I responded to you on Telegram.

Now, I ran into another issue. Windows 11 decided to install an update automatically. Now, it continuously boots into finishing an update and gives me a blue screen at 98%.
When running bcdboot X:\Windows /s Y: /f UEFI i get the following error: "Failure when attempting to copy boot files." could you help?

@@CryN3tI.T the above code to apply image didn't install properly,repeat the last step and wait for it to finish, make sure cmd is running as administrator,once that's redone will solve the problem.
Can you you still do this process if you are already rooted??
Yes,but you have to root it again after you install windows

Depending if you need it or not. I use it as an experiment to see how much i can push the device.
Does it automatically boot into windows after installed?
No ,you need to use the computer to boot, once your in windows you don't need a computer unless you restart
Thanks for the guide but youre am asshole for net mm wtioning that you have to run the cmmd prompt in admin mode when creafing the iso. Took me three hours to figure out how to make the prompt program always open as admin, in the correct file location. Kept getting error u til i noticed yours said admin at the top.

No you're device is not bricked, just follow this tutorial from Microsoft to flash the original os back

@@techforlife91 I tried this already, but it doesn't work
1 - Downloaded recovery image with my serial number
2 - adb sideload command fails with "Package is for surface/duo-eu/duo but expected surface/duo/duo" - Not compatible
3 - I found a Non-EU serial number and downloaded a GEN package instead of EU package
4 - Verifying package was now succesfull - setup starts with step 1/2
5 - But stopped at install step 2/2 with no error number
My device has already the win partitions 6 to 8 (esp / windows / android userdata)
I wanted to delete partitions 6 and 7 and start again from this point but made a mistype *gr*
Try this as this doesn't require nothing, its a simple.custom rom. Install using the Fastboot option.

This is a custom recovery mode , this will then allow you to flash any surface duo image.
