I connected with The Witcher because of Geralt and his story. So it’s hard for me to imagine Witcher 4 as a Fallout/Skyrim type game. I like the character led story. I hope they stick with it and tell someone else’s story.
I'd LOVE to go back and experience Kaer Morhen in a time when it was whole, and full of life and interesting characters. Dive deeper into the Trail of Grasses process, etc.
Then which character would you suggest? Geralt is what made the Witcher series special, and it is obvious he is not going to be the playable character.
@@cheeksclapper69-e6w I don't suggest, it's not my job, but CDPR's. However, if you played Thronebreaker you know they can make amazing characters and story without using well known stuff from the main games. So I believe they can craft a good main character and story if they make this new game distinct enough from Witcher 3 (future/past and a world region we haven't seen before). Also, play Thronebreaker if you haven't, it's amazing.
A game set in the past is way more interesting than a game after The Witcher 3 IMO. Even in Geralt's times, monsters are not really an existential threat anymore and human conflicts are way more important.
Tbh i do enjoy Witcher 2's politics. It is in some way better than Witcher 3's story. We could play as Young Vesemir or an entirely new character from the past. Would love to see School of The Wolf on its prime. Imagine seeing Teen Geralt lmao
Monsters weren't the focus in the witcher universe to begin with tho. The book(s) and series is a mostly woman-centered, woman-driven political story through the eyes of Geralt. The games are different in a way but still includes a fair amount of politics.
I think it'd be kinda interesting if you got to play as a new witcher -- like, get to go through The Trials of the Grasses and everything. Of course, time jumps (and perhaps significant ones) would be part of the story, too, but I think it could be incredible if done in the right way.
@Feu De La Croix I don't think he meant that you should make your own witcher, I think he meant that CDPR creates an entirely new main character for us.
My biggest concern is that a lot of the people who created TW3 at CDPR are no longer there... The Witcher games are a HIGH bar to live up to and I have serious doubts they can catch lightning in a bottle again and seeing how Cyberpunk 2077 played out. Also, society is far more insane now than it was during TW3's dev time- which will effect the game's narrative.
Actually I disagree. CDPR still has a decent amount of people. And even if they are missing some, certain systems are in place that basically set up any game they make for a big success, as long as they stick to the recipes of past successes. That means a good open world game, with many ways to interact and a great story. And we do know their storywriting is still pretty damn good with or without source material to go with. CP2077 for example had a great story. What the game failed as were all things that were never a problem in the witcher games, for example extremely crowded places, police chases and so on. So I would put my bet on them being able to give us an actually good story. For everything else they basically just need to use their TW3 blueprint.
If CDPR wants to go in the direction of Ciri they need to make a spin off that follows her adventures. Honestly, I wish they had made a $30 expansion where you got to play as ciri jumping from one world to another trying to escape the wild hunt. Just in general it'd have been cool if we got a ciri post book escaping the wild hunt
@@TheDrsalvation She did say she liked it so much she wished she had stayed. So she must’ve experienced the Cyberpunk world somewhat. I don’t think you can pick up someone from the Middle Ages and throw them into the late 21st century and expect them to live and function without a guide.
I would like them to make the story at the beginning. When witcher first appered. I would love to explore a world that is full of witchers and beasts to fight.
There could always be another convergence in the future. I don't think anything in the lore says it'll never happen again. Maybe Geralt who thought he'd retire start a school of the Lynx together. Maybe Ciri's son or daughter attended that school and that's what we get for a main character. It would be a whole new saga, but there would be a connection to pay characters we all know and love through dialog or even a cameo. I just hope CDPR doesn't box themselves in with the books. People that read the books will never be completely satisfied.
CD Project never wanted to touch Sapkowski's books, as the medium wouldn't translate well into video games. It is time to Geralt rest guys... he deserves it.
For me, Ciri is very compelling from a story-telling perspective, but far less compelling from a gameplay perspective. Whilst I enjoyed playing as her for short periods in Witcher 3, I suspect I would get bored of her OP abilities fairly quickly.
As he said in the video though, they would scale her abilities. Geralt is supposed to be very OP as well but can get fucked up by wolves in the Witcher 3. The same scaling can be applied to Ciri.
Look how much playing Geralt changed between the three games, they can easily change around what she is like to play. In Witcher 3 she doesn't have skill trees or anything.
Ciri's abilities would make for excellent gameplay if the game is designed around her combat and abilities. The third game was clearly designed for Geralt hence why u got bored playing as Ciri. It all comes down on how the gameplay is mechanically designed around you the enemies and the world
@@deimoslyric Geralt is exactly as he should be,20 wolves are 0 problem if you are playing well, and can F him up if u are slacking, hes like Batman, while Ciri is something like Dark Phoenix or Wanda,so her abilities would be hard to pull off without severe nerfs,or without being so op that the game is boring
@@deimoslyric Tbh I don't recall wolves being an issue not even at the start of the game. But yeah Deathmarch can be challenging. However I believe we'll be able to create our own Witcher, no predefined main character.
I'd much prefer a prequel, where Kaer Morhen is still full of witchers, maybe we get to see it sacked as young Vesemir. The snow makes me think that we'll see Kovir and Poviss in this installment which would be interesting, as there's no wars there and it'd be different from the first 3 which were all Temeria, Redania, Aedern, Kaedwen.
Completely agree with the Witcher 4 having a set character. I can see the appeal of building your own Witcher during the height of their power, but it limits story telling. I would prefer a prequel over future events. I feel like if the time period moves forward, it would be centered too much around human conflict. I’d like to see more monsters, and lore expanded on some topics we already know.
I think gameplay-wise it'd also be smarter to have more monsters around. W3 already had way more monsters than the lore would imply, however for gameplay's sake, I like it. Especially since book-Witchers aren't exactly aiming to deal with humans much, let alone kill them, so more human opponents isn't a better solution. Nor would I want a lot less combat.
@@Volkbrecht I'd also prefer a set character, I just don't think Witcher is the best game for customisation, just because it'd take a big adjustment in lore to include diversity (females being a good example) and I don't think it adds that much, like what does it add? Like has anyone minded that Lara Croft is a woman or Geralt a guy? Also more effort to make the story run smoothly, given the choice I play female characters, but I regret it the second dialogue isn't adjusted for shit...
It doesn't limit storytelling AT ALL Custom character but the story is styled the same way previous games were and the story works fine becauae our character has a set personality in said story. And dispite the issues Cyberpunks story was Solid
I’ve always been interested in the era of the Conjunction of Spheres. The beginning of this world. Having a bunch of first interactions between all the races, and the birth of the Witchers.
Yes. I found myself wanting more Ciri play in the Witcher 3. She's a blast to play. Honestly though, I'm in for the world. I'd love a "Create your own Witcher" game as well.
If they do end up going down some sort of customisation route for our protagonist, make it like Mass Effect with MaleShep/FemShep, the strong base character is there, we're just able to change their physical appearance etc, yes there's paragon and renegade options which changes the character slightly, but not drastically.
Or Dragon Age 2 with Hawke. Originally it was my least favourite installment of the 3, but after several replays I like it the most, because the characters and world (city) feels "compact" ( similarly to Witcher 3 - although W3 is ofc a masterpiece), due to the fact that the protagonist is a set character and they could build a better story around him. Build-your-own-protagonist games rarely manage to create so intriguing world and story.
Eh, female witchers aren't a thing, save for Ciri. So CDPR would have to ignore not just the book's canon, but their own canon and take away a part of what makes Ciri so unique
I feel given the multiple endings of W3, it’ll not likely be anyone we know already, unless it’s a prequel. I feel that we’ll be in a completely new location, with a new cast of characters that can allow CDPR to expand their Witcher mythos in the way they see fit.
True. Imo, Gerald and the cast were only part of what made the witcher three so good. Some of the best parts were the connections between them which can be done with other characters aswell. And ofcourse the way they made the world, great creature design and lots of darker themes really bringing out the mortality of everyone to the forefront
@@eddardstark6179 Maybe so 😂, but the amount of extra effort that went into preserving the coherence of W3, even after the DLCs seems a bit too much for them to disregard.
@@thelouisjohnson oh they will disregard it don't you worry about that..greedy company like cd is not going to waste resources on multiple scenarios when they can still earn a shit ton of money from imbeciles even in case of them basically shiting on witcher 3 by setting "canon" outcome
Perhaps the main focus of the story could be restoring the reputation of the lynx/cat school, given the fact that the cat school has a reputation for being assassins, maybe our new protagonist could set out on a journey to change the path that the cat school is on and changing the path it transforms from school of the cat to the school of the lynx
@@nilan3294Or they changed the gameplay element to suited Ciri style? I’m thinking of skill branches replacing mutagens system , Ciri have many complex attack combo and the combat became faster.
@@poohtisdispenser7106 Nah ... I think the chief appeal of the Witcher series is that you feel like a monster hunter (Brewing potions and blade oils to prepare for a fight/contract). Tossing all that away and rely 100% on Ciri's super-power is sort of a cop-out. That would fail spectacularly.
I actually liked Ciri’s character quite a bit and they’ll definitely balance out the difficulty level so not sure why people are concerned about her being too op. The gameplay could be radically different and expanded upon with Ciri specifically given her space-time faculties. Geralt is definitely more entertaining than any other option, though. Honestly it just matters how well it gets executed. After their legendary failure with CP, CDPR probably wants to prove they still have something really golden. I’m still rooting for them
I wanna finally see Kovir, god dammit. Also, don’t forget Ciri can travel through time as well as space, so being set in the past wouldn’t totally prevent a cameo from past characters.
Geralt's story already had its end with Blood & Wine, and it's perfect as is. Having Geralt as a protagonist again, wouldn't make much sense it the next game is a sequel to the events in TW3. Similarly, Ciri's story is pretty much also complete by the third game unless she chooses to become a witcher, in which case her being an elder blood and therefore so op would not make for fun gameplay and would stray too far away from the actual witcher concept. In my opinion CDPR is better off exploring other characters in the witcher universe, perhaps even creating a brand new protagonist. I'm pretty excited with the prospect of a cat school protagonist since this school is famous for its witchers also taking contracts as assassins and all the moral implications that could have. Perhaps this game could focus more on the relationships on the various cat school witchers, having some be inclined to take up on assassination contracts therefore causing division between them, maybe even have a witcher be the actual antagonist. It could also focus more on intrigue and the posible story branching depending on wether you choose to be an assassin or not can be endless. Really excited with the future of the series.
Besides if they wanted to invoke nostalgia they could always make old characters appear as part of certain side quests or DLCs instead of centering the main story around them.
I like your idea. Also the books are full of characters, places and segments of society we haven't yet seen or explored in the games. So there would be plenty of opportunities for CDPR to dive into for a new games with the cat school.
Really enjoyed this video;) Both the possibility of a prequel or sequel are exciting. Great take on theconnection between cat and lynx school. Completly, agree that a new game is exciting either way, also really enjoyed Thronebreaker
I've been looking out for your perspective on the news. I agree, exploring a completely new location(s) would be amazing. That would be really exciting, along with a new protagonist.
the witcher is geralt. with out him it loses all of its appeal the only reason it is popular is because of geralt. no one would buy the witcher with him not in it
@@chrisalder9096 this dude has to be trolling like to people actually think this? Geralt is the strongest Witcher but that would be like playing as ezio auditore for black flag
Man It's only been 10 videos yet you're one of the few people in the witcher community who I respect the most next to people like xLetalis whose been making witcher videos since the beggining of time Keep at it man!
From the screen CDPR posted. I wondered if the medallion has been uncovered from being buried in the snow. As if a younger protagonist uncovers this in the future. Maybe a child or grandchild of Ciri who wants to become a Witcher after the schools have been forgotten.
As far as I know W1 was actually supposed to be a "build your own witcher" game, but then CDPR changed their mind and chose Geralt as protagonist. It might be possible that W4 will now pick up this idea and let us choose a witcher school for example. I don't know how I feel about this since I'm kind of emotionally attached to many of the characters we know from the previous games (Eskel as new protagonist would be really nice), but I also see that this could be a great chance for a new start and some fresh game mechanics.
I think it would be terrible tbh to have your own custom character you just can't get the complex depth like a set character. Quests wouldn't be as interesting. I think a game with a set character like eskel or Lambert or vesimir in his youth could work well. Vesimir you could see kaer morhan in its prime, a young geralt being trained. The fall of it.
We should totally have a prequel, and we should totally follow a young Vesemir! We even have elements of his youth in The Witcher 3 already, it would be an excellent way to put all together Hell, they could even make a whole new triology on this that (as the "A new saga" could suggest) end with the found of Geralt, that would be amazing!
How about even before Vessemir. There were already less monsters when Vessemir started. Make it where Witchers were at their absolute peak and humans were still expanding/surviving.
@@pjishomo That would be also very cool, even if companies usually prefer to keep at least one character already seen in other chapters when previous games were very successful. But I personally would love a game in peak Witchers time too!
@@taz3810 As long as it's a prequel I'll be glad. It would also be awesome if in the prequel the bad guy is a Witcher. Imagine that, fights with Witchers.
Agreed completely a young vesimir would be a perfect game. You could see kaer morhan in its prime and a base of operations, a young geralt being trained. It would give the place more tragedy as you know it becomes a ruin eventually.
@@xenoplayz4524 Wouldn't it be more interesting to go way back when Witchers had to be invented and then continue to a time when Witchers had their peak. I think there must be some very interesting story behind where CDPR can excel. In the Witcher series the Witchers are always in decline. Why not a story where they are at their best but abuse their power like everyone.
I would love a kind of hybrid between choose your own character and a set story. What i mean is make the character have a set name, background etc but let the player decide what the character looks like
I would be glad to have more playtime with Ciri, the teleport fighting is really fun. Maybe it would be something where you could develop both characters and switch between them.
There is also Letho which isn't from the School of the Wolf. Also has the perk of no set story after Witcher 3, but does have different endings to deal. But they can easily be explained.
Hi! I would love to see a deeper dive into the game assets, like things summonable using the console. Always wondered about the frozen soldier and volcanic griffin
I was hoping the Nilfgard and Redania and Tameria conflicts didn't end in witcher 3 and we got a story about a new character (witcher) and it's main focus was this war in the Witcher 4. Your choices affecting the entire fate of a war but shown in much better way than the sad and disappointing way they put out Radovid and it's consequences, or the way they abruptly ended the war after defeating Eredin. The other cool part about the story would be the prequel to Witcher 1. I haven't played that game much but as much as I can recall it starts off from the point where Geralt has lost his memories. I would really love a prequel with the Wild Hunt, Ciri, Emhyr, Geralt, Vesemir and others, that focuses on the events leading up to the start of the Witcher 1. I think, with the BnW expansion, it's time for geralt to 'rest' as the DLC's end suggests. A new character and a new sequel may be good too but they may just leave a lot of things hanging. I would really like a game based in the past that sums up all the 3 witcher games, the war with Nilfgard, and the Wild Hunt and White frost as I think these main ideas were merely briefly touched in the witcher 3 and really need their own time and dedication to be fully put forth. I would also love a pre-war era story which ends in the war starting or ends at the start of Witcher 1.
I sincerely hope NO Ciri games are made i definitely don't want that either Geralt or a new character *WHO IS ACTUALLY GOOD ENOUGH TO CARRY THE WITCHER IP*
Completely off topic here, but I really, REALLY am proud of what you've accomplished. Never have I seen a TH-camr like you reach a thousands of subs in the span of 7 months, and let alone continuing to grow till this day. I wish you the best of luck, ye kind sir 😊
CDPR's version of The Witcher universe is so beautiful and well thought out, that I think the next stage will be wonderful. We will fall in love with whomever Witcher or Sorcerer we get to be :) .... and Netflix will be just a hiccup in the past >:(
I‘d be in for a prequel set when witchers were at their peak. Or, maybe, even earlier: when the first schools formed, with one of the first „real“ witchers (as in: someone must at some point have started the mutation thing, noticed that it‘s good for monster hunting and then started to apply it to young boys in a regulated manner to achieve comparable results - or death, for that matter). If so, why not introduce a semi-set character and take a page out of some other great rpg franchises‘ books. Let me play a customisable boy, taken by the witchers, undergoing mutation and training and then being thrown in some story - or, more simply put, give the character a origin story, maybe even a slightly different one according to customisation (think DA:O, but more like Story 1: Given to the Witchers as payment; Story 2: Taken by the Witchers; Story 3: Stray, homeless kid wanders around and just happens to knock on the Witchers‘ door or Story 4: Runaway who admires Witchers wants to be one and leaves in secret to find them - just a few ideas for origin stories, altering the youth storyline and the way people/other young witchers in training react to him, but with no real influence on the later adult life as Witchers are usually not impacted by stuff like that.
I want Witcher 4 set in the golden age of the witchers about 230 years before the Witcher 1. Set in the entire northern kingdoms, A true RPG were where you pick your Witcher school and this acts as a character class of sorts. Similar to Dragon Age Origins, were each school has it's unique self contained early game story then joins up with the main story but your background is always relevant. I mean with UE5 devs should be able to do a huge open world encompassing all of the Northern Kingdoms and have distinct Witcher classes reflecting the specialties of each school and there would be monsters galore 2 centuries in the past!
I think geralts story isn't over, but it's gotten to it's end. He's reached the end of his character arc. He proved his point. Witchers are as human as anyone else, people are the scariest monsters and he grew out of how toughened he was from years of seeing nothing but pain everywhere and grew to love well, the people he loved. He raised ciri the best he could and she did whatever she did in the climax of the story. He lived the part of his life we were meant to see. I think he's going to live on doing what he does best, being a witcher, he has many many years left, witchers don't die of old age, or not that we know of. I think that geralt HAS changed and he's not the same person from the main story of most of the games. I think moving on to ciri possibly creating or continuing witcher schools or bringing more people into the fold to become the next generation of monster slayers would be what I want to see out of another witcher game, after all, without the witchers who would keep the world safe from monsters and make coin doing it? maybe the new witchers could include sorcerers as well, maybe ciri or someone else can research how to make safer mutagen. If the game is about geralt it's just going to be more of the same, which the same is great, but I wan't it to grow and evolve, while still maintaining the same life. Ciri has so much more possibility in her story, she's young, has many relationships to make, people to meet and places to go, where geralt has seen and done it all.
the only reason witcher gets any traction is because geralt. to leave him out of the new game would ruin all the good will they made off his name. he is the only protage in the witcher siri is just the leftest wet dream. its weird why do they have to take every good character and replace him . i dont understand how american culture is turning right now. it is depressing geralt is the witcher and thats that. if he isnt in it then it isnt the witcher anymore.
i would like to see the focus of this Lynx School be more so the remnants of the Cat School rebuilding under new leadership and being a lot less murdery.they have a very terrible reputation even among the other schools and seeing that school become something more would be really nice to see
I find myself on the minority where I'd like Ciri to be the main character but this means that one of the many endings of the The Witcher 3 has to be an established cannon where Ciri becomes a Witcher. Remember that Witcher anniversary video where all of Geralt's friends gather for a feast? That must be the true cannon that CDPR inteded where Ciri, Lambert, Keira, the Baron, Roche, Olgierd, Anarietta, and Syanna lives. As for Ciri being too OP, I'm sure that CDPR can still come up with a pretty good story for that.
Wouldn't it be cool if you could customize how the mutations affect your new witcher in the game. Like a character creation but instead of appearance it changes based on what school you choose and how the mutations affect you.
Ciri is not a real Witcher, is too OP as a plot device with her time and space powers, and her story and character is intertwined with Geralt's and her arc is completed in Wild Hunt. Not to mention it would render player choices in Wild Hunt a moot point. Eskel should be the protagonist going forward. He is the only Witcher whose outcome in Wild Hunt cannot be effected by choices. He inherits Kaer Morhen and heads out on the Path for further adventures every time, and it would be more interesting playing as a traditional Witcher like him, much different from Geralt's Knight In Shining Armor type hero.
It bothers me how many people believe Ciri is a Witcher. I think that's one of the biggest flaws in the game. Ciri cannot be a Witcher. Geralt taught her how to fight, Yennefer helped her to use magic. Ciri isn't either or.
I bought ThroneBreaker, loved it ! I just wanna create my own character as far looks. They can have a predetermined story, preset abilities or whatever….just have a female and male voice for the character and we’re great.
There are no female witchers ( except Ciri, but she isnt a full witcher ), and i dont think they will go full RPG whit customized characters, but instead stick to the linear story mode.
I just imagined a mission where the protagonist fails to kill a monster and needs some help from a seasoned witcher, and right there, hears the steps of the white wolf coming to rescue. Silly I know but it would be nice to show our beloved Geralt in some way in the new game.
Geralt is an interesting character in his own right and despite his "dissocial" behaviour likable enough to be invested in emotionally as a player/ reader. He is grumpy, but kind, brutal, but hones, lonersome but loyal. I think Witcher 3 ended is story in a nice way, leaving his actualy fate somewhat open ended, resp. in the hands of the player, who can basically decide what the "happily ever after" is in his story. Ciri is part of this story and I think making her the protagonist, would rob something from Geralt's and her story. For this reason, I think both are out of the equation, especially given the fact that the medallion shows something different. I think for a reason CDPR decided to use a witcher school, which is not prominent. It is I think a "clean slate". I also think that while some of the other characters in the saga certainly have their appeal for some, none of them are so universally liked as Geralt. For a major game in a new saga, I don't think any are solid choices for that reason. In any case they would certainly always be compared to Geralt and his saga and I doubt this would work out very well for the majority. This might work for a spin off game like thronebreaker, but not for a major saga. In my opinion the logical next step would be to make it an open character, totally new, probably designable like in other RPGs. This can still lead to an immersive story, e.g. like in Mass Effect, so I don't think this would be a problem. As for the setting: I think for the same reason, avoiding comparisons, a totally different setting is needed. This could either be a very different location - but not too different, if you want to catch all the Witcher fans - or a different time frame. Since the Geralt saga already is happening during at the end of the witchers' decline, my guess it, we will see a prequel or a setting after a rejuvination of the witchers to give more options. Or maybe the school of the lynx is capable to create witchers still? OR maybe they are just "wanna be witchers", which are just good figthers without the special abilties? Maybe you will have to find a way to make thos abilities accessible during the game? We will see. In any case, I doubt it will be a familiar characters or setting. That could only loose in comparison to the Geralt saga.
A End is not always a End. If someone from the Story writers are going to have a good Idea how they could Continue then there is no Problem to continue. But I personally would preffer a Game in the Past and not in the Future and maybe we could then see or We could get him there Geralts Start as a Little Witcher Boy in Kaer Morhen. Hope you understand my Idea. Again: My Idea is, That the New Game will End and Geralts Story "will begin".
In Lady of the Lake, Ciri grabbed Bonhart's cat school medallion after killing him and put it on. The main character will most certainly be Ciri, either in the past or future. Personally I would prefer Ciri's story in the real world where the books leave off.
It will 100% be Ciri because 1. The whole feminism sjw strong female character thing which cdpr evidently supports with its female cyberpunk option 2. The lynx console code on witcher 3 - typing in lynx gives cat armor and Ciri is the only one depicted with a cat school medallion - this one is huge. 3. Established character, popular, many want her as the main character 4. Snow in witcher 4 picture relates to Ciri (hair colour, white frost, abilities)
Agreed n unfortunately people don’t get this concept that taking over everything isn’t really caring about who supports most video games. Idc there’s exceptions out there. You cater to who buys stuff to succeed long term and they’re trying to change what those definitions are and what we love. It will never happen just like in long term they can never really change what the opposite sex likes too despite having exceptions. I can give perfectly rational explanations that has nothing to do with gaming and everyone is fine with as long as it’s with one gender but do the majority with male gender and it’s gotta change. I say everyone bc it becomes majority when you include what most women think men should be and some men. Btw most of these women have feeling towards this but show way differently with their actions. Emotions are fleeting and actions show way more than what people say. However if you just take into account what men want and will always want the vast majority of men will always be this through biology and at our base core. Which btw is what women gravitate towards bc were opposites of each other and create the whole. It’s why the Witcher series on Netflix is ultimately gonna fail bc of the feminist bs. The propaganda is real and most people don’t understand they’re being brainwashed into thinking something that will never happen. Also that this change doesn’t need to happen bc there’s beauty to it and it’s natural. It’s the small select few having the loudest voice trying to change this but will ultimately fail bc not enough will ever support this to sustain itself over decades. People will eventually get tired of it and if you push your core audience away to please the select few your money line will be most effected. There’s already real life examples of this happening and it will only get worse
Since its been confirmed to be the school of the Lynx, I'd appreciate a canonisation of the pen and paper role-playing game it came from, complete with its female witchers and lambert as a Vesemir equivalent. A Commander Shepherd style custom protagonist would certainly be a good way to endear people to a new protagonist when they can look however you'd like and your dialogue choices could form your character's actions and personality.
Can we seriously not just have a Ciri/Geralt Witcher 4? Honestly, the list of characters work... please, CDPR, for the love of everything holy, don't try to invent the wheel here. You have a game franchise that everyone know and love and adore exactly for what it is.
Geralt's story has come to a close in Witcher 3. That is the best way to end his journey. The only logical candidates for the next MC are either Ciri, Young Vesemir or a whole new character. I'm leaning toward Young Vesemir tbh. Ciri's story would be hard to pull off because of how OP she is. I rather play as a regular witcher than play as a demigod lmao.
@@kingf6766 that would work because Vesemir is a canon character, but my fear is CDPR would create a non-canon character. Now, this is based on the medalion picture we saw when the game was first teased. But also, is it really the end of.Geralts story? See, for me, its not that clean cut. I feel there is room for more of him. Perhaps his younger years as a Witcher - and like You said Vesemir - but we already know that the enhanced edition of Witcher 3 is gonna have a Netflix DLC... My hope is just cdpr doesnt botch this up, you know what I mean? We see this exact thibg with sooo many games these days: franchises being torn down because somebody wants to get cute and earn money without delivering a solid product. And the fans just gets pissed from it.
If CDPR decide to continue/ expand same saga and characters with Ciri as character. It will be a disaster. Our viewpoint to see every relation in the game will shift drastically and that will set many people off from this detailed rpg. Mass effect 4, last of us etc etc many games did same thing and it majorly upset the audience. They should either do a new character with minor references or Geralt in a new saga.
Ciri could be the founder of the new school, in another world many. Tho another world with no lore backing for the monsters and politics etc. can be a bit risky.
@@wilhua3083 Id say throwing a new character into a world where we know Geralt works perfectly is much more so. The 2 elements seemed to be made for each other
I can see a more open-ended character direction, with your own witcher initiate that you can name, customize, choose your own school, and complete the trials, also being a possibility.
Personally, I would love an entire trilogy with Ciri as the protagonist taking place after Geralt's story. She literally had to run away her entire life and has never had the chance to really discover herself and what she really wants. I think there is so much potential and I'm so interested in seeing it one day!
I've already thought about whether it really goes on with ciri. maybe the medallion and especially the snow has something to do with the white cold. I would find that interesting if perhaps ithlinne's prophecy plays a role.
I do NOT want a Vesemir game or any customizable Witcher. I think it’s criminal that Ciri is only in the third game and I think a new series with her would be as good (not better) than the original games.
Great time to start the channel! I personally think ciri being the protagonist is almost a natural secession to what most of the Witcher fans see. Also, if you didn’t try your hardest to get the ending where Ciri is a Witcher then you didn’t play it right.
A different Witcher would be cool but I just can’t imagine a Witcher game without Gerald as the protagonist, I’m sure the game will be great but I definitely would miss playing as Geralt maybe a pre Geralt era Witcher would be cool
I hope Ciri isn't the protagonist of the next game, i would very much prefer to create my own character. Being able to choose race and classe would be the cherry on top of the cake but that part is unlikely XD
I dont really know about the story or the setting which could probably feel a bit wierd if its set in the future but i do like the idea of the witcher you play running around finding lore and whatever about Geralt and the past games, with books and scriptures pointing out things he did.
I have read it on a fan page, and that said, the lynx school was founded by Lambert (maybe Eskel, I can't remember) and it's after the battle of kaer morhen.
im glad other fans don't really want a ciri story either. like i love her to death and she's got a cool story, but if they are moving on from geralt's story it'd be so nice if they rly commit to letting that story be over and get a whole new experience in the same world. geralt's story is so deeply intertwined with ciri's, it wouldn't feel like going into a new direction at all
I missed your videos. I love the quality and I really like to hear your opinion. I really don't mind who is going to be the protagonist. I just want, like many other fans want, a high quality game. Not only improve the graphics and mechanics, we want a good script, a good story that makes us feel like a Witcher in the middle of a chaotic world. Keep doing videos please. 💙
A prequel with a younger and less experienced Phillipa Eilhart as your sorcerer sidekick would be awesome (she's over 300 years old meaning she was around when the first Witchers were created)
i remember after blood and wine came out there was a rumor that the next witcher game would feature a witcher that the player custom desinges like in cyberpunk. with a new story unrelated to gerald and the other characters we know
I'd love to see a game set during or soon after the second conjunction which is said to happen sometime in the 1300s. Witchers are said to make a comeback and use early versions of firearms to supplement their swords. Sounds almost like the Witcher with a bit of Bloodborne mixed in
Yes exactly. There is indeed room to explore the future in a compelling way. Plus it would further respect the source material but it's ambiguous enough to create whatever new storylines they want.
I connected with The Witcher because of Geralt and his story. So it’s hard for me to imagine Witcher 4 as a Fallout/Skyrim type game. I like the character led story. I hope they stick with it and tell someone else’s story.
How amazing would it be if you made video on "ten kind of scammers to avoid in Velen?
Also didn't expect to see you here, love from India❤
I'd LOVE to go back and experience Kaer Morhen in a time when it was whole, and full of life and interesting characters. Dive deeper into the Trail of Grasses process, etc.
Custom character creation would, in my opinion, kill a big part of what makes The Witcher games special.
No way bruv
@@Ablood8480 care to elaborate?
I agree. There's multiple ways to go about creating a good story. The Witcher game way is an established character facing new events.
This is EXACTLY what I've been thinking for the longest time idk why it hasn't crossed more people's minds
The Conjuntion of the Spheres is bound to happen again in the future of The Witcher World, so it's inclusion would be interesting.
@@naoiwatani8402 the way I interpreted it the spheres conjunct a lot more often than people think just the big events are much rarer
Of course, time jumps (and perhaps significant ones) would be part of the story, too, but I think it could be incredible if done in the right way.
geralt is the cog that keeps the machine going no one would buy a witcher without geralt its not the same, stop
@@hsizzle4502 Where did I say that Geralt should be left out completely?
Your right but i hate play as a female protagonist
I hope we dont play as a girl
@@terry4751 Well…if you can create your own character, you usually get a choice. Think Fallout 4 or something along those lines.
Sounds like a great idea actually. They could even make a whole game of it. That concept has huge potential
@@erenjager1155 Well, since it was more or less confirmed that Ciri once jumped into the Cyberpunk universe, it would be hysterical to meet V as Ciri.
@@aconite72 that would be an absolute fucked up idea. She was hiding, not blending in, there's a huge difference in that.
@@TheDrsalvation She did say she liked it so much she wished she had stayed. So she must’ve experienced the Cyberpunk world somewhat. I don’t think you can pick up someone from the Middle Ages and throw them into the late 21st century and expect them to live and function without a guide.
Maybe that's the Idea at first but later expanded upon it.
I would like them to make the story at the beginning. When witcher first appered. I would love to explore a world that is full of witchers and beasts to fight.
Imagine to see the elf conflict... to life Lara Dorrens tribulations...
This is the main reason I want a prequel
@@shinoku250_gaming no one in this thread is talking about Geralt. The elf conflict was well before Geralt's time.
We already have seen that in the Netflix animated series though
@@FMJIRISH bruh

@@FMJIRISH but not well done tbh a game on the scale of witcher 3 would flesh vesimir's youth out a lot better
Definitely would prefer a set charc also
Really doesn't limit much, just takes more work. A lot more work.
It doesn't limit storytelling AT ALL
Custom character but the story is styled the same way previous games were and the story works fine becauae our character has a set personality in said story.

Or like V in Cyberpunk 2077?
Or Dragon Age 2 with Hawke. Originally it was my least favourite installment of the 3, but after several replays I like it the most, because the characters and world (city) feels "compact" ( similarly to Witcher 3 - although W3 is ofc a masterpiece), due to the fact that the protagonist is a set character and they could build a better story around him.
Build-your-own-protagonist games rarely manage to create so intriguing world and story.
@@Eth77930 character customization always looks ugly and simplistic in games like this.
And ofcourse the way they made the world, great creature design and lots of darker themes really bringing out the mortality of everyone to the forefront
lol ever played witcher 2?cd doesnt give a fuck about multiple endings, they are just gonna choose one as "canon" and ignore the rest
Witcher 2 also had multiple endings but those ideas were discarded in 3rd game.
Perhaps the main focus of the story could be restoring the reputation of the lynx/cat school, given the fact that the cat school has a reputation for being assassins, maybe our new protagonist could set out on a journey to change the path that the cat school is on and changing the path it transforms from school of the cat to the school of the lynx
actually not a bad idea
Potions, bombs, Mutations, signs etc. would become useless because Ciri is too op. I REALLY hope she won't be the next protagonist...
The thing is that they can come up with quests that Ciri's powers are unable to solve but I see your point.
@@yoannfelix7301 Yeah, they can. But whats the point of that? Thats playing a regular witcher but with extra steps.
Only way i see Ciri being a suitable protagonist is if she somehow loses her elder blood abilities but that opens up a whole other can of worms.
Tbf we could get a prequel to the witcher 1 as in pre "death" geralt
In the book ending it was hinted on Geralt dying, there's millions of possible ways to bring Geralt back tbh.

From the screen CDPR posted. I wondered if the medallion has been uncovered from being buried in the snow. As if a younger protagonist uncovers this in the future. Maybe a child or grandchild of Ciri who wants to become a Witcher after the schools have been forgotten.
We will create our Witcher...I think..
That's exactly what I think too.
I like create your own character type... that makes witcher game more awesome
Business idea:
Let us play a game as Saskia -- sexy warrior-queen with shapeshifting dragon powers. Print money.
I really want Saskia closure at some point. Other than a couple of lines she's totally ignored in TW3.
Witcher 4 should be about Letho and school of the viper
We should totally have a prequel, and we should totally follow a young Vesemir!
We even have elements of his youth in The Witcher 3 already, it would be an excellent way to put all together
Hell, they could even make a whole new triology on this that (as the "A new saga" could suggest) end with the found of Geralt, that would be amazing!
How about even before Vessemir. There were already less monsters when Vessemir started. Make it where Witchers were at their absolute peak and humans were still expanding/surviving.

Wouldn't it be more interesting to go way back when Witchers had to be invented and then continue to a time when Witchers had their peak. Why not a story where they are at their best but abuse their power like everyone.
Dang. I forgot I was subscribed. Happy to see a new video.
I'd love it if they went back in time to when Witchers were at their peak! I do agree that a 'build your own character' would not be my favourite.
What about Geralt when he was a kid? Doing the Witcher trials of grasses, being taught by vesimir and leading up to the first game? That would be cool

Ciri wouldn’t be school of the cat …
I sincerely hope NO Ciri games are made i definitely don't want that either Geralt or a new character *WHO IS ACTUALLY GOOD ENOUGH TO CARRY THE WITCHER IP*

Ezkel? Dead. Lambert? Dead. Geez... they're really running through named characters over there.
We could have vasemir story from the grass of trials till he became geralt mentor, from what we saw in the anime it would be really good.
Tbh, if it is just a custom created character with an engaging story count me in.
Why you people don't understand what "new saga" means
Ngl, I loved Ciris speedy movement and momentum based combat is amazing
@@hsizzle4502 Well, if it's Ciri as the protagonist, he'll still be in the game
i would like to see the focus of this Lynx School be more so the remnants of the Cat School rebuilding under new leadership and being a lot less murdery.they have a very terrible reputation even among the other schools and seeing that school become something more would be really nice to see
I find myself on the minority where I'd like Ciri to be the main character but this means that one of the many endings of the The Witcher 3 has to be an established cannon where Ciri becomes a Witcher.
Building your own witcher would be AWESOME and so many more options to choose because you are somone with a blank slate.
I bought ThroneBreaker, loved it ! I just wanna create my own character as far looks. They can have a predetermined story, preset abilities or whatever….just have a female and male voice for the character and we’re great.
I loved Throne Breaker when it wasn't crashing constantly. I haven't gone back in a while, but it was unplayable in the beginning.
Yes but No. It is a risky Idea for CDPR to Try that New Saga Idea.
Dude you’ve gotta do like live streams or full gameplay series I would watch every second of them.
In Lady of the Lake, Ciri grabbed Bonhart's cat school medallion after killing him and put it on. The main character will most certainly be Ciri, either in the past or future. Personally I would prefer Ciri's story in the real world where the books leave off.
It will 100% be Ciri because
1. The whole feminism sjw strong female character thing which cdpr evidently supports with its female cyberpunk option
2. The lynx console code on witcher 3 - typing in lynx gives cat armor and Ciri is the only one depicted with a cat school medallion - this one is huge.
3. Established character, popular, many want her as the main character
No Geralt, no Witcher.
Can we seriously not just have a Ciri/Geralt Witcher 4? Honestly, the list of characters work... please, CDPR, for the love of everything holy, don't try to invent the wheel here. You have a game franchise that everyone know and love and adore exactly for what it is.
I would love to see them, but play as a random witcher fruit of random... events.
Welcome back!
Missed the channel, glad to hear your thoughts
Ciri could be the founder of the new school, in another world many. Tho another world with no lore backing for the monsters and politics etc. can be a bit risky.
Is Geralt gonna get killed by a golf club?
I’d love Geralt again though. I’d have no problem with Ciri but Geralt as you said is perfect and why mess with perfection?
because having him again IS messing with perfection?
@@wilhua3083 Id say throwing a new character into a world where we know Geralt works perfectly is much more so. The 2 elements seemed to be made for each other
I agree, have good writing in this amazing universe and I’m happy
I want a game about Ciri's adventures! 😭
The book is amazing!
GJ, now I really want to see the School of the Alascan tundra wolf ^^
I do NOT want a Vesemir game or any customizable Witcher. I think it’s criminal that Ciri is only in the third game and I think a new series with her would be as good (not better) than the original games.
She really bypasses a lot of witcher things with her powers and if she is a main character they basically make the other endings obsolete
I just hope they keep the same graphics as w3 because it’s the perfect balance of not being to real but still looking amazing
Geralt's and Yennefer's child surprise being trained by Ciri would be awesome.
Ciri as a mentor to a young Witcher with flashbacks of Geralts training would present fun game play possibilities.
Only thing im hoping for is that the game launches finished...
I saw someone say it would be cool to see eskal start his own Witcher school and you play as one of his young witchers
Great to see a new video from you! I’m looking forward to seeing a new Witcher game but right now I’m more excited to see the next gen update
I agree with you. I hope we get a great new location.
Eskel said he wanted to train new witchers so we could play as eskel building our new school
I have read it on a fan page, and that said, the lynx school was founded by Lambert (maybe Eskel, I can't remember) and it's after the battle of kaer morhen.
That was before when they confirmed that it is indeed a lynx medallion
If Ciri is the main character, I'm not playing it.
im glad other fans don't really want a ciri story either. like i love her to death and she's got a cool story, but if they are moving on from geralt's story it'd be so nice if they rly commit to letting that story be over and get a whole new experience in the same world. geralt's story is so deeply intertwined with ciri's, it wouldn't feel like going into a new direction at all
I missed your videos.
i would like a character creator, being a witcher and getting witcher jobs meanwhile learning about the witcher geralt and meeting ciri
A prequel with a younger and less experienced Phillipa Eilhart as your sorcerer sidekick would be awesome (she's over 300 years old meaning she was around when the first Witchers were created)
I think a character with a solid story but flexible or even player based appearance would be a hell of a lot of fun.
i remember after blood and wine came out there was a rumor that the next witcher game would feature a witcher that the player custom desinges like in cyberpunk. with a new story unrelated to gerald and the other characters we know
I'd love to see a game set during or soon after the second conjunction which is said to happen sometime in the 1300s. Witchers are said to make a comeback and use early versions of firearms to supplement their swords. Sounds almost like the Witcher with a bit of Bloodborne mixed in
Yes exactly. There is indeed room to explore the future in a compelling way. Plus it would further respect the source material but it's ambiguous enough to create whatever new storylines they want.
missed ya bud! was hoping you'd make a video abt the news ♡
A game that tells about how Geralt became a Witcher, and stories where he got to be where he is now. Adventures with other young witchers.
