@Madbutcher305 Engl makes some amazing products, there's no reason he shouldn't like ENGL too. Sneap likes to have a very modern and produced sound, there's a few amps that give him that sound, ENGL's one of them.
Sup dude. Bought this guitar a few days ago. Its realy realy brutal. The neck is something special. Its thicker at the top and up on the highfrets its abit smaller but still have that good feel to it. 10/10 guitar imo.
Does anyone know what amps, pedals, settings, etc. Eric and Alex were using on the first "Legacy" album? That tone on that album is prolly the most scooped "hollowed out / metallic" thrash tone I've ever heard. I'd love to know what the trick was to get that sound. In the MTV video, it's showing Marshall heads, but not sure if that's what they were using. Now, albeit, I've seen early footage of their live shows during 1987/88, live in Eindhoven, etc. and it looks like Marshall JCM 900 heads and standard 1960-A/B Lead cabs, but there's just too much gain, hollow, and scoop for it that tone to JUST be a stock JCM900. Anyways, let me know guys! Thanks in advance!
@HurricaneTBag He made Dave use EMG's for the new record 13?Hmmmm Dave always uses Seymour Duncans. I think maybe Dave is trying to go for a more "modern" sound or something.
@Plutoniummatt Not necessarily, an EMG 85 in the neck position has a great sound, almost bluesy. It has great clean tones on them. But I am going to experiment on other pickups, I think im going to get a Seymour Duncan Invader for my bridge and Pearly gates for my neck
What a cool guy!! It's nice to see that he made sure his guitar was affordable by anybody, I mean who really wants to buy an $8000 Gibson "Slash" Appitite Les Paul? (Especially when Slash did NOT even use a Gibson guitar on Appitite!). Eric is fuckin AWESOME!!
@megaluisdeth Andy Sneap is a pretty religious 5150/EMG guy, he likes JVMs quite a bit too; lately he's just been on a huge 5150 kick when he's been recording. Oddly enough he forced EMGs on Dave Mustaine and didn't let him use the Seymour Duncan livewires.
I was thinking the same thing,who's guitar is it anyway? eric's or theirs? I never heard of a company that did not let the artist have complete artistic control of a sig guitar?
@megaluisdeth Well for one I know what EMGs sound like and what lIvewires sound like, and two Sneap has a forum where he has what he used to get the tones on all of the albums.
Yeah... Except for Jackson, Carvin, Mayones, ESP, Ibanez, Strictly 7, Guerrilla, Bernie Rico Jr., and the list goes on... Deans are good, but not the best, especially compared to companies like Carvin and Mayones.
Guitars made in china for ltd, epiphone and ibanez etc are really getting there with their quality now. They are cheaper because the materials and more importantly the labour is way cheaper than in the us. My chinese made ltd mh350 is my favourite guitar. I own a us made strat, gibson les paul and various others, its my personal opinion that buying a guitar for where its made instead of how it feels is silly.
@metalwillhatecrew I listen to alot of music and eric is as under rated as alex skolnick, as under rated as Rocky George, Mike Clark is another incredible rhythm guitarist that recieves no credit. I say eric is the best rhythm guitarist because of the body of work he as given to the world of music. Its your opinion to agree or disagree with me, nd i can respect that. Like now days Roope Latvala is considered a rhythm but he's one of the best leads to come out of finland. thanks for the comment
yeah, quality is an issue, i had the lighting bolt CFH model and got duped, it was awful build quality, the frets were lifting out the fretboardbetween the 11th and 15th fret, when i took it back to the dealer they 'sent' it away for 3 weeks, when i got it back it was the same and was set up with an action a half inch off the fretboard, when i asked WTF was going on they tried to say that's how it was meant to be set up, i nearly decked the ignorant SOB right there and then, never again a Dean!!
Ibanez does that too. They pulled the same crap on Chris Broderick and that's why he uses Jackson. Of course, Jackson makes better guitar for the most part anyway.
Who would want an $8000 Gibson Les Paul? Uhh...I would. If you had this in one hand and the Gibson in the other and ask me "which one you want?" I am taking the Les Paul, for sure. Now, if I have to use my own money, sure, I will take the Dean. I cannot afford a guitar that cost more than my car. But all things being equal, the Dean wouldn't stand a chance!
for some reason, i don't believe eric peterson uses a $700 dollar dean import, please tell me at least uses a usa version, it looks like a an alright guitar for the money, but it's an import from third world asia.
@megaluisdeth I'm not sure about 13, Sneap didn't make that record. The albums that Sneap made, United Abominations and Endgame, EMGs were forced on Dave. Livewires sound like shit and there's no way that Sneap will put his name on rhythm tracks with that weak ass sound.
I like the rig rundowns, but I fucking hate listening to these people talk about their stupid signature guitars. Who fucking cares that some guitar company is kissing your ass. Its not that interesting..
@crabappleslikeme Dean guitars are over-priced: But they play well and look pretty good, not all of them are perfect and some of the specs are poor, but that's the same with every company. Please stop thinking you are some sort of demi-god and think you can smash anybodies face in: Because it really doesn't matter - You are one bloke in over 6 Million, there is n need to try and be tough, that's why guns were made mate.
The only things dean are good at is using a dead man's name to sell poorly made guitars, and cutting corners on their top of the line guitars. Disrespectful.
I own a few Dean Z's from '79-'81. 98% of what they make is offshore garbage. Even the so called USA made guitars are terrible. But if they're handing out guitars, there's plenty of players who will take them. Like Dave Mustaine.
Disrepesctful to the musicians who use them, and Dimebag who's estate continues to allow them to use his name. The only player on there that actually has a decent line is the Dave Mustaine line, and even he has to put out a couple of cheapos to make Dean money.
Worlds greatest rhythm guitarist ever!
Kickass guitar, I love it. It plays really good and sounds killer.
Beautiful inlays
@Madbutcher305 Engl makes some amazing products, there's no reason he shouldn't like ENGL too. Sneap likes to have a very modern and produced sound, there's a few amps that give him that sound, ENGL's one of them.
@Axeman2006
EMGs are sterile on a cheaper amp.
On a nice amp they work great.
And when you do the 18v mod they loose all sterility.
thank you eric for sharing .
he seems so cool and being a gear nerd i like his detail in what he uses
The body inlays are made of pure win. I love that guitar.
I want this guitar
i love eric's sinaure dean guitar. i hope to be able to buy it one day.
Sup dude. Bought this guitar a few days ago. Its realy realy brutal. The neck is something special. Its thicker at the top and up on the highfrets its abit smaller but still have that good feel to it. 10/10 guitar imo.
I see one of his Guitars but .............. where`s the rig in this rig rundown eh ?

@HurricaneTBag
Andy likes ENGL's too. Exodus's most recent record used an ENGL Powerball or Savage, I think.
That guitar is f#cking awesome. Period.
@TreyMoore92 Yeah everybody, because they talked about it
What a cool guy!!
Doesn't he use Marshalls JVM 410 for live shows? He says so in the Guitar world magazine.
I would buy this guitar if i knew a little bit about the neck size. like how big is it? anyone know?
@HurricaneTBag
Yup. Nothing wrong with a good old ENGL.
@HurricaneTBag Well Dave still uses them live and stuff. How do you know Dave used EMG's?
holly shit, this is one hell of a kickass beauty axe!
I was thinking the same thing,who's guitar is it anyway? eric's or theirs? I never heard of a company that did not let the artist have complete artistic control of a sig guitar?
4:46 Satan begins to possess Eric
There are ton of better brands moneywise. Carvin is one of them. I personally love Ibanez and BC Rich.
@megaluisdeth Well for one I know what EMGs sound like and what lIvewires sound like, and two Sneap has a forum where he has what he used to get the tones on all of the albums.
@Plutoniummatt bullshit. you just have to put them into the right guitar and plug it into an suitable amp.
What's Eric got against Peavey? I've always thought their stuff sounded pretty good.
@Vomitore indeed !!!
its a v-shaped neck i think, its probably just like a reg guitar. dont quote me on it tho
Yeah... Except for Jackson, Carvin, Mayones, ESP, Ibanez, Strictly 7, Guerrilla, Bernie Rico Jr., and the list goes on... Deans are good, but not the best, especially compared to companies like Carvin and Mayones.
@leetheshredder i agree, is so true, that is not cool...
Guitars made in china for ltd, epiphone and ibanez etc are really getting there with their quality now. @c4tze do you even play guitar?
@metalwillhatecrew
I listen to alot of music and eric is as under rated as alex skolnick, as under rated as Rocky George, Mike Clark is another incredible rhythm guitarist that recieves no credit. 25 years? Wow
ERIC ITS GOAT OF MENDES,FOR THE RECORD
@Axeman2006 I prefer to use the word "pristine" instead of "sterile" :)
I was talking about Dimebag, but OK.
nice V
you know dean the man who started it in the 70s is alive and has anther guitar company calls dbz guitars
6:39 he says
Kalaka-lika
blackouts on 9 volt mod sound like emg's on 18!
Killer 🤘 🤘⚡ 👿
Gibson Les Paul size.
yeah, quality is an issue, i had the lighting bolt CFH model and got duped, it was awful build quality, the frets were lifting out the fretboardbetween the 11th and 15th fret, when i took it back to the dealer they 'sent' it away for 3 weeks, when i got it back it was the same and was set up with an action a half inch off the fretboard, when i asked WTF was going on they tried to say that's how it was meant to be set up, i nearly decked the ignorant SOB right there and then, never again a Dean!!
I can't focus on the gear because his hairs gorgeous😄😄😄😄
really? i'm owning a ML 79, it costs $449. Not too satisfied coz of the action. The main reason is because the frets are not 100% leveling.
cool dude. i need to go to sleep.
dam 600 bucks new and now its around 1200 lol if u can even find one
@Plutoniummatt
Give it a break dude, it's down to taste. I personally stand neutral on EMGs, and I prefer Bareknuckles.
Ibanez does that too. They pulled the same crap on Chris Broderick and that's why he uses Jackson. Of course, Jackson makes better guitar for the most part anyway.
@XxxdethhammerxxX
EMG's are the most soul-less, boring, dry pickups I've ever used, the only good thing about them is the high gain.
"BEFORE BLACK METAL WAS BLACK METAL"
Before Black Metal was Black Metal.. The line I use so often.. Original hipster :p
Not realy that big. Its abit smaller and alot faster :)
"It was metal enough... So we went with this sparkle..."
lol wut?
is that the truth man? i think it's good enough!
He's exaggerating to prove a point. Their most expensive guitars are "actually" good, but anything under 1999.99 is literally crap.
for some reason, i don't believe eric peterson uses a $700 dollar dean import, please tell me at least uses a usa version, it looks like a an alright guitar for the money, but it's an import from third world asia.
@leetheshredder dean just lost a great chance to make a even better and more killer guitar, if they just pay attencion to the artist desires...

I agree 1000 % . What a horrible, horrible man this Dean must be
@crabappleslikeme
Dean guitars are over-priced: But they play well and look pretty good, not all of them are perfect and some of the specs are poor, but that's the same with every company.
Please stop thinking you are some sort of demi-god and think you can smash anybodies face in: Because it really doesn't matter - You are one bloke in over 6 Million, there is n need to try and be tough, that's why guns were made mate.
I can't tell if you're practicing your biting sarcasm and you lack reading comprehension, or if you're being serious :c
The only things dean are good at is using a dead man's name to sell poorly made guitars, and cutting corners on their top of the line guitars.
Disrespectful.
Irrespective of the shitty, tacky graphic(s) - it's a pretty cool guitar; but Dean are the Gene Simmons of guitar manufacture.
his signature is UGLY cant evan see dean on the headstock
Man! I am losing a lot of respect for dean guitars
@asianaxeman yeh but it would ruin the skull!
I own a few Dean Z's from '79-'81. 98% of what they make is offshore garbage. Even the so called USA made guitars are terrible. But if they're handing out guitars, there's plenty of players who will take them. Like Dave Mustaine.
What have you accomplished with your life?
Dude, I own a VX and it's amazing, Idk what do you mean. It's the Peterson Sig Model
Disrepesctful to the musicians who use them, and Dimebag who's estate continues to allow them to use his name.
The only player on there that actually has a decent line is the Dave Mustaine line, and even he has to put out a couple of cheapos to make Dean money.
