Brilliant bit of engineering. Also, An effective and complete description, demonstration of the principle, operation, and installation of the product you have for the market. Thank you so very much!
I have only just heard about these drives so please forgive the late question 😊. How do you change the ratio whilst riding? I am looking at buying a used recumbent with one of these and from what I can see you either have to (a) Stop and press in the button with your fingers or (b) Try to "Kick" the button with your heel. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Ian in the UK
I don't have a Schlumpf, but the general approach is to tap it with your heel. There are two configurations - one is the small button located at the center line of the bottom bracket. The second configuration is a 'speed lever', which is a shroud that seems to give you a bigger area to tap with your foot as you ride. In each case, you are supposed to be able to shift while riding or while stopped.
I used the Mountain bike version, it works the same but it gives a lower gearing, set on 1 - 1 ore 2,5 - 1 pedal 2,5 rotations to 1 roatation from the blade. It works great.
