I don't think the AI Theta is designed to replace the IR cameras. It's perfect for areas where you have reasonable light all the time, or maybe places where you would use a motion sensing light or the Unifi Spotlight.
can't say i understand the purpose of providing two CAMERAs (they aren't merely lenses), but you can use only one per hub at a time. unless i'm misunderstanding something, these "lenses" as they like to refer to them actually do contain the CCD chip and glass lens, they just don't contain the processing guts, which are remotely located in the hub. am i not correct?!
Hello, Did you ever find out if the 2nd port on the block was able to be utilized for the camera? If so, would the block support two cameras? This would be awesome, as you would be able to buy one block for every two cameras.....
Interesting camera, I feel there will be a lot of use case scenarios for this set up where you want to keep security a bit more masked- thanks for the video!
Not understanding why people are concerned about the lack of IR , and reading licence plates ? The IR on all my G4 pro’s merely light up the licence plate up to where it’s just a blown out and unrecognizable blotch of bright light at night . I’m not sure, but maybe there’s a frequency of light that would work better ,but I don’t think it’s been looked into very deeply. Also, when vehicles are blasting down my alley , even during the day , their plates are blurred out from the fast motion . Wouldn’t a camera with a different refresh rate improve this to a point ?
thank you so much for this video. I have been thinking about getting one to replace the G3 Micro in the play room but I need that longer cable because I don't think the processing box can handle being in my attic with 120+F temps.
20fps is plenty for cctv, and gives much better quality still shots when you pause your video in the event you need to look closer to recognise someone or items. Higher FPS takes up more recording space and although it can make motion video clearer, it degrades still viewing.
How are we supposed to mount this on a drywall or ceiling if has a plastic nut that screws from the back of the mount? i was hoping some kind of mount design like a recessed light has.
I have a Theta also and am disappointed that it only registers as HD on my NVR and not 4K. I am wondering if that 7mp instead of 12mp is a reason behind that? Their video on the UI store page still advertises it as a 4K camera
The audio option works great. My only suggestion for UniFi is that they add a dewarping utility for downloaded 360 footage. Viewing the 360 camera live or only in the NVR playback limits its usefulness. Does the indoor 360 camera have the same limitation? The installation instructions that comes with the AI Theta is misleading. It shows the main unit being installed inside the wall. That's a terrible way to install it and I'm not aware of building codes that would allow that anyway. I would have preferred the electronics designed to fit into a single or double-junction box which is a much more standardized installation solution.
I think the cable is short on purpose? Like the idea is that you run Poe to where the camera is, and then the box is mounted on the other side of the wall to where the lens is mounted.
I’m a fan, hoping the license plate reading functionality means an optional outdoor lens is on the horizon, as well as an external IR attachment which could be plugged in instead of the audio/mic attachment.
It wouldn’t work with just an IR light. The lens needs a IR cut filter too. So ideally, there’s a night vision kit soon that has a lens with a IR cut filter and an IR flood + mic attachment that plugs into the C port.
@@MactelecomNetworks 😂 and so…unrelated to this comment: what do you think of the low light performance sans IR lights? I’m wondering if they purposefully omitted this due to the tech not being ready or because of the form factor of these tiny cameras? Hopefully there will be an updated one in the future which can do night vision with IR; I just bought this system for my dwelling. Thanks Bruv
From an otherwise fantastic product line, what an absolute stupid design for something that could have been great. If this is meant for discrete installation having a giant dongle that you can't stick into a wall is a BIG miss (side note: what is the purpose of a screen?). How is this supposed to be mounted in an area where discretion matters?!?!
Sadly the lack of IR is a killer for some use cases, its a funky little camera and going to be interesting to see where UI go with the platform

Mines still in the box, cotta run a cable inside the walls in my house and have been too busy, glad to check this out.

Is there a way to turn off the License plate in playback?

Apparently it will be updated with firmware

Can you do a review on the AI Theta Professional ?
Possibly once it’s available in Canada

Ya I believe you are correct. Also the USB C cant run that far. We just installed on in a office great little camera

Can't wait to test this at our lighted parking garage. Probably have to 3d print some sort of enclosure.
Is the license plate feature on the UDM Pro yet?
It’s on the camera only two have it so far ai bullet and ai Theta
I have a question should UNVR be on the main lan or the camera vlan?
Mac do you work on Non UBNT networks?
I do but mostly Ubiquiti
Why would this camera have License plate detection if it is an indoor camera only?
You can most likely put these cameras in a parking garage they were suppose to come out with new mounts
If only there was a way to replace a standard door peephole viewer with this AI Theta camera.
It doesn't come with infrared but can it see when there already is infrared light? or does it stay in a daytime mode all the time?
It doesn’t, the lens needs a IR cut filter besides the IR light. It’s a 2 part concept. Light and filter for the camera to see that light.
Tag me when the installation video comes out, can't wait! :)
Checking it out now
Interesting the zoom levels weren't the same on the pixel test
Can I install both cameras on the same hub ? Thank you
You can not only one camera
Drink everytime he says theta
I Don’t recommend that

Thank you.
Great info, thanks. License plate reading is not too useful - In my Hood Criminals either steal Cars, Carjack, or rent one to commit crimes ...
Makes sense
Licenseplate recognition but you can’t install it outside…😮
