I've watched many games of clocktower but the final day puts this immediately into my top 3 of all time. I couldn't have predicted the way that day panned out if I had a thousand guesses to spend.

Honestly, driving evil mad by breaking madness on every day except the final day was a legitimately good strat that paid off handsomely. . . . . . . . In the entertainment department.
For some reason, Ben's gambit of openly claiming mutant reminds me of the first scene in Ace Ventura 2 ("If you were me, then I'd be you... and I'd use your body to get to the top. You can't stop me no matter who you are...").
Guys I just wanted to share with you guys that a couple a weeks ago I played BOTC with my friends. I don't know if in my island(Puerto Rico) there's other people playing in community, but honestly it's the best game I've ever played. Also I don't know if I'm the first person to buy it over here in PR, but I will make sure people get to know how amazing this game really is. We played for hours and we're gonna play next week again. I hope one day I can play online with other players. For know I'm the narrator, oh boy the shenanigans I've seen already.
I just messed up a game in a similar manner, I was confirmed outsider and soul read the demon day 1(for the wrong reasons, but still) and then switched my thought process on the final day and lost us the game. I feel better knowing that Ben did it first.
Very new clocktower fan here! I just realized I think I saw you at gen con 2022 but didn't know who you were at the time (or I'm going crazy because it's fuzzy memory). I even almost joined a game of clocktower way back then but decided it was too late to learn something new. I was at mindgames back in april and played a few games there. I was lucky to snag one of the copies for myself and have since run 6 or 7 games (only trouble brewing unfortunately). I'll be able to play something other than trouble brewing for the first time in a few days actually! But to get to the point, I wanted to say that I really appreciate these videos. Pros playing a game I love is one of my favorite things to watch and these have given me so much knowledge about how to play the roles I haven't played or run yet. I really hope that I get to meet you someday (when I actually know who you are)!
GenCon is on my bucket list, but I haven't made it there yet, so you definitely didn't see me there. I was at SHUX in 2022 though, so perhaps we brushed shoulders there. - Ben
Spoilers below! I'm kinda glad Ben and I messed up and voted for Jacqui on the final day. It would've been a bit frustrating for evil to lose it I think! The attempts to cover for the Mutant were kinda half-hearted, people openly discussed Ben as an Outsider for the Savant info even after the Poppy Grower pivot. Luckily I somehow got taken in to thinking Jacqui was evil for reasons I still can't fathom, Ben threw up the late hand, and we had the farcical ending we deserved :D .
The Poppygrower pivot was surprisingly good, but yeah, when the Savant info came up it got dodgy. It's a tough choice for the ST because ending the game via madness execution isn't very satisfying either. No idea how I would have run it personally but I'm glad it didn't matter in the end.
I think it was fair for everyone to openly talk about Ben as an outsider. Why should 1 player's madness affect the entire stream of information? He was mechanically confirmed as well as dreamer confirmed. You can't break somebody else's madness for them lol
The first one was at a convention, so wasn't recorded, the second time Adam did that we played online, but I'm not quite sure we were even streaming it 🤔
@@Miraxik Ah, darn, that's a shame. Thanks for the response though. I'll just keep formulating my own similar Amni abilities, like [+2 Pixies who are told there's a Snake Charmer in the game].
@@Miraxik Fine line to walk between chaos and frustration huh? I feel that. Being my group's storyteller I'm always exploring where those limits lie myself.
@@niallsb the thing about that amnesiac ability was that nobody in a hundred years would guess that apart from doing stuff in the night they also affected setup, so at the end when one of the snake charmers caught the demon, nobody knew what was going on. And while that is hilarious in many cases, this time it felt like neither team had enough info or even inkling of what might have happened to win consciously.
This reminds me of one game where I kept claiming that I was the Ravenkeeper (I was). I was hoping the demon might think I was bluffing but I didn't end up dying that game.
@@RoderickEtheria There aren't that many options, I think it would be pretty obvious in the late game, even if you die before understanding it. In this game you would get exactly the oracle numbers. You can see that your numbers match up with Jacqui and confirm a good player (game-winning information) even if you don't get a bingo. If there are more players (e.g. adding a fortune teller, and you getting a number and a yes/no that matches the FT info) then it's even easier to see that your info correlates with their info.
Rough ending for the good team... Sometimes you just have to ride with it even if you are confused. It is a mistake to create an opportunity to tie there (with zero chance of lifting) even if you thought Debbie was good. The evidence showed that Nicky was evil and would absolutely tie for the win if you voted there (or not vote if their Demon was Jacqui). Voting there eliminated any chance of good winning the game. Patters and Nicky both being evil was the most likely scenario. Good had a huge advantage if they just would have trusted it. I notice that players with a ton of games of BotC can get too clever and let themselves be manipulated because of it. Ben double-clutching at the end and losing the game is a prime example. Props to Patters for his social play and to Nicky for being ready to raise his hand if Patters' gambit worked on Ben.
and this my friends is why you don’t put Mutant on a script with no Cerenovus. Mechanics like madness or extra deaths in the night need balancing out with other roles that can also cause that mechanic “I am this scripts equivalent of the Virgin” - outsiders shouldn’t do that. In fact, almost every role outside of the Virgin shouldn’t do that
Love the game, it's still too complicated for me to understand what's happening here. But I think I learn more by watching you play. We have a group newly started, and the current problem is how to lead the game. I try to take the role and strike up conversations, otherwise people just sit there in silence and don't do much. I find up stuff like I want to take people with me to the Coffee machine and strike a convo, then I forgot the coffee to the dungeon master, so I had to take a new trip and bring another person with me. In this group, all are so experienced compared to my group, so you have a completely different dynamic, where I would not have a chance yet to understand. But I do love this, I want to play more of it, would love to join these lobbys if they are open to include a new player :) My guesses during this game was very off. I was very convinced JC was evil, when he changed his mind and said Ben is the poppy, he confirms to me he's not the dreamer, or just really really bad at bluffing it. You have to stand your claim even when bluffing, or it's just you are trying to sabotage for your team. I did not see any place that confirmed nicky, patters or Debbie was evil. But that may be my level of understandment of the game is not good yet. Only played 3 times live.
If you are interested in learning more by watching, I highly recommend the No Rolls Barred channel where they play this. All players started out as beginners and they go through the pre-written scripts one at a time so you can learn the characters along with the players. Super fun!
JC rather transparently "changed" his N1 Dreamer info only on the last day and therefore to protect Ben from Mutant madness break execution. That's very blatantly a Good player move
I think that comment in game was made because Ben had been told there was a widow in play; being executed for a madness break confirming Ben as mutant pseudo confirms the widow ping because it doesn’t make a whole lot of sense for Ben to have lied about it as the mutant. There can’t be a widow in a legion game (sans alchemist)
Mutant can be in a Legion game, but Widow can't. If Ben is confirmed as the Mutant, that proves he's on the good team, so he's (most likely) telling the truth about getting a Widow ping. It would have been impossible for him to receive a Widow ping unless the Widow ability existed in the game, so him getting confirmed as Mutant would prove that it isn't a Legion game.
Fumble at the finish line i can’t believe he would listen to an obvious evil and the worst bluff ever with the lost amnesia and a savant claim on no drunk and debbie power of stealing powers could have easily been disproved, butter fingers ben, still a great watch
Another one of my foolproof strategies.

I thought he might be bluffing it, most of the game, even with the reminder.
