Flint is the perfect town for a horror movie. It has everything you need to qualify as horrific. Better pack your bullet proof vests when filming, and watch your step. You never know when you might step on a used hyperdermic needle.
I grew up in Flint when it changed from an affluent blue-collar, family-oriented city to gansta sh*th*le central. Hand to God, it is a place that gave me nightmares for years, even after moving out of state. I said for a long time to those who said that they like Halloween and haunted houses, go to Flint and roam the streets at night to get your scare on. People who grew up elsewhere in decent, quiet, lighter places find it hard to believe a place like Flint. People from Detroit and Chicago were once afraid to be in Flint. Seems it is a bit tamer now.
Why in the hell would you film a movie in Flint, Michigan!? Production is going to be scammed, robbed, and shot at so much costs will be doubled. Additionally, there will be no need to “act out a murder.” Just throw the locals a party, keep the cameras rolling, and wait. With all of that real footage you will be able to produce not only a fictional scary movie, but a true crime documentary as well. Edit: OMG, you ARE using locals! You are going to use people whose lead-addled thought processes, combined with an inability to control their emotions, are going to attempt to “act out” a fictional crime? I hope your film insurance is broad in coverage and high in reimbursement. You’re in for a rude awakening. This town isn’t the same Flint you remember.
Thank you for the business to Michigan. Good luck on your movie!

Not to be confused with another movie called Drop Dead Fred
