    Sim Rate - You can see the current sim rate when hovering over the flow increase / decrease sim rate buttons
    Differences between PC / Xbox Essentials
    - No Enable Head Tracking camera button on Xbox (as it would be superfluous)
    - No ability to be able to export your settings (as no access to file system on XBox)
    ...and I think that's it...

    • @Huddison
      @Huddison  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Dan: having the Sim rate + & - on the front wheel would be great for this.
      Pro version has a few added things, but you're not missing too much ;)

    Well, after dowloading Flow Essentials for Xbox (Series X in my case), and having a few initial setup frustrations, now have things fully dialed in and running smoothly. This is a BRILLIANT addition for console users! 🤗
    I think the biggest challenge, given access to so many options, is where to put these various things so you can find them quickly. A little trial and error and I now have a working plan. The camera views are outstanding and since I use a mouse, easy to access.
    One (unexpected) added benefit is that I was able to free up a few bindings on my my V1 Flightstick and V1F yoke by assigning them on a Flow wheel.
    For new users, don't get tweaked if you see that "!" in the settings (gear) icon when Flow is active. That's simply an ADVISORY that the most current version of MSFS (AAU2?) is one version ahead of what Flow was initially released at. Things still work fine and I'm sure Flow will release an update soon to put Flow Essentials at "par" with the latest MSFS update.
    //42 has a great channel on Discord and seem to monitor any concerns daily. Thanks for yet another brilliant video, James...and happy flying to all! 👍

      I’d agree. I ended up buying it out of curiosity. I like the name tags change. Other than that I don’t really see the point.
      I have what I need set to buttons on my HOTAS and mouse. I don’t think I used it once in over 10 flights, it is also really limited in terms of the the widgets you can add. I would have liked a button to turn on/off taxi lines, can’t do it.
      I dare say that Flow Pro is a ‘game changer’ but this essentials version is certainly not

    I’m new to MSFS. I get confused when you are using a console( XBox X) but also using a mouse to “right/left click” on your screen. Do you have a mouse attached to your console?

      Yes, you are able to plug in a wired USB, or wireless mouse into the Xbox Series.

    • @TheRealLaughingGravy

      I bought a wireless Logitech keyboard and mouse combo for about $30 USD to attach to my Xbox Series X, and it's made a HUGE difference for me. It was worth it just for the much easier way to adjust trim (7 and 1 on the numeric keypad) compared to the clumsy combination on the Xbox controller.

    So, it's been discovered that using Flow (or maybe having it just installed) is killing performance on Xbox.
    I'm having CTDs nearly everytime I use the Sim, but on the same token, Flow is phenomenal tool, in my opinion, the positives outweigh the negatives.
    I'll have to keep working to try and find ways to keep Flow and alleviate the issues.

    • @Huddison
      @Huddison  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I still haven't done thorough testing with Flow on the Xbox, as I mainly use my PC to fly in MSFS. You are correct: the positives of having and using Flow, far out way the negatives.

  • @mcsherlocks

    So presumably you've had to buy twice then, once a pro PC version and this Xbox version? I checked earlier, and I have the Xbox version and then went to PC and got the same version from the marketplace which works and brings over my settings. So it's a great deal for getting both versions. Really is a worthwhile investment to bring some things like the custom name tags and portal to Xbox, which were separate mods before and purely PC exclusive. I like the settings for doors and having autopilots at my fingertips.

      @@Huddison understood Thank you James. I'm about to purchase it as it improves MSFS UI. It's a very clever tool. When I'm flying with Xbox I use to do more relaxed flights comfortably laid on my TV room couch. :) So, my ideal scenario is to avoid using a mouse as it needs a good flat surface to work with. In my couch it would be much easir to have just the flightstick with it's good amount of buttons and levers, my charts, Ipad, some peanuts and a drink. It seems Flow comes very handy on the whole setup!

    There are no differences between the PC/Xbox versions, like you said, Essentials to Essentials is identical.
    Pro however there technically is no "difference", as Pro is only available on PC due to much more complex integration.

      Unfortunately the answer is "probably never"
      Main additional feature with Pro, is user programmable extensions.
      MS does not allow user created code to execute on the console.
      All code that executes on the console, has to be signed by MS. It's part of why any mods have to go through the marketplace and can't just be copied on to console. It's the reason for the long delays on getting WASM on the XBox.
      As such, there is no way of enabling this kind of extensibility on the console... It's specifically designed to stop this being possible... And so it's almost certainly never going to be possible to allow user programming, or sharing of programmable functionality without going through marketplace release.
