Honestly when you see Tony tweeting like every 20 minutes *during* the show he's not even watching the broadcast, he's checking people's reactions on Twitter. I actually wonder if Tony has ever watched a playback of his shows before.
This is actually the funniest thing when you think about it. The Elite started all the drama with Punk, they fucked with him a bunch after brawl out and when he came back. Their little buddy went into business for himself on a pre show to take a shot at Punk and got beat up for it. The Bucks finally got what they wanted and Punk was fired, AEW had already been on a downward trend post Brawl out and losing Punk just made it spiral even further. The Bucks did their little victory lap in half empty building, only for Punk to return to WWE who were already red hot and instantly made one of the biggest moments in the last 20ish years. Instantly was the highest merch seller in WWE (funny thing was with the overlap he was still the highest AEW merch seller too) and WWE is even hotter with Punk back. Hes likely going to main event Wrestlemania this year all while AEW's ratings and attendance continues to slip and it was all caused by the Elite.

This promo, at least to me, seemed more directed at people who watch Cornette and make fun of AEW than the viewing audience that has to be sold on the match. Nearly nothing of what they said helped creating a story between them and Sting, and the fact that even for a match as important as this one they can't keep Punk's name out of their mouth shows how little they care about coming off as professionals

The only reason why the Bucks are even around right now is because they convinced a billionaire’s gullible kid that they’re some kind of big deal. They draw no fans except the Cagematch audience. They attract no new viewers and even turn off some established ones. They can’t even claim to have founded AEW; that was Cody’s vision that started it. And once he started to have different ideas, it seems they pushed him away, as well. The only thing these two wannabe gymnasts have contributed was giving AEW’s two biggest stars ever to WWE just in time for the main event of the 40th anniversary of WrestleMania. 😂

The biggest problem with the promo was that they praised Sting. It ruined the angle for the match. I think they did that on purpose, as they want people to know their bad guy turn is not real, and they like exposing the business.
They mention Sting before saying the 'old cancerous stars' or whatever... and then have to specify that Sting is not like that. Then they have to back-peddle again to say that Sting is part of the dying breed, implying that Sting is, in fact, one of the cancerous stars. They needed to pick a direction and stick to it rather than waffling about. Just say that all the old guys are the problem, including Sting, and that they are going to rid AEW of them. They're trying to hype a match against Sting anyway, so actually throw some shade to drive home the vitriol between them. Otherwise, is Sting is such a model employee, why are the Young Bucks not going after Christian, Jericho, Edge, etc...?
It goes to show that the overhead leadership (aka Tony and friends) never had any control in the first place. If tension was that high, Tony should have had something done about it a long time ago... and, if Tony couldn't do anything about it, at least keep Punk away from the Elite so both sides don't implode at once.

-I watched that promo and shook my head. It was like they were wanting to emulate the promoters who would cut promos in the 90’s. You had the “Us v. Them” deal of Paul Heyman. There was the “Don’t Cross The Boss” deal of Vince McMahon. You had the slimy huckster deal of Eric Bischoff. However, those three could actually get the audience to react in the manner they were looking for. This doesn’t make me want to watch them. -For so long, I’ve believed that they’ve had a natural heel personality whenever they were babyfaces. They just came off as guys who you’d pay to see get the crap kicked out of. Yet, whenever they’ve gone heel, they’ve gone way over the top to where you can see that it’s an act, which makes it even less believable. -The FTR idea is very intriguing and could still be doable. With the Bucks clearly taking the match, have FTR come out and talk about how they want to be Sting’s last match. Play off of the backstage stuff. Talk about how the Bucks have been trying to hamper them since they got there. They were holding 3 belts(ROH, AAA, IWGP) at the same time but they were on other shows reminding Tony Khan that they still worked for AEW. Now, they want to take the opportunity to face a legend they grew up watching in his retirement match. Set up a match between the Bucks and FTR where the winner takes on Sting and Darby. FTR goes over and you now have Sting/Darby v. FTR.

They attract no new viewers and even turn off some established ones. They can’t even claim to have founded AEW; that was Cody’s vision that started it. And once he started to have different ideas, it seems they pushed him away, as well. The only thing these two wannabe gymnasts have contributed was giving AEW’s two biggest stars ever to WWE just in time for the main event of the 40th anniversary of WrestleMania. 😂

The biggest problem with the promo was that they praised Sting. It ruined the angle for the match. I think they did that on purpose, as they want people to know their bad guy turn is not real, and they like exposing the business.

They mention Sting before saying the 'old cancerous stars' or whatever... and then have to specify that Sting is not like that. Then they have to back-peddle again to say that Sting is part of the dying breed, implying that Sting is, in fact, one of the cancerous stars. They needed to pick a direction and stick to it rather than waffling about.
Just say that all the old guys are the problem, including Sting, and that they are going to rid AEW of them. They're trying to hype a match against Sting anyway, so actually throw some shade to drive home the vitriol between them. Otherwise, is Sting is such a model employee, why are the Young Bucks not going after Christian, Jericho, Edge, etc...?
If one guy can come into your locker room and be as detrimentally disruptive as the Bucks claim...then you don't have much of a locker room, do you?

-I watched that promo and shook my head. It was like they were wanting to emulate the promoters who would cut promos in the 90’s. You had the “Us v. Them” deal of Paul Heyman. There was the “Don’t Cross The Boss” deal of Vince McMahon. You had the slimy huckster deal of Eric Bischoff. However, those three could actually get the audience to react in the manner they were looking for. This doesn’t make me want to watch them.
-For so long, I’ve believed that they’ve had a natural heel personality whenever they were babyfaces. They just came off as guys who you’d pay to see get the crap kicked out of. Yet, whenever they’ve gone heel, they’ve gone way over the top to where you can see that it’s an act, which makes it even less believable.
-The FTR idea is very intriguing and could still be doable. With the Bucks clearly taking the match, have FTR come out and talk about how they want to be Sting’s last match. Play off of the backstage stuff. Talk about how the Bucks have been trying to hamper them since they got there. They were holding 3 belts(ROH, AAA, IWGP) at the same time but they were on other shows reminding Tony Khan that they still worked for AEW. Now, they want to take the opportunity to face a legend they grew up watching in his retirement match. Set up a match between the Bucks and FTR where the winner takes on Sting and Darby. FTR goes over and you now have Sting/Darby v. FTR.
