This was the official song of the London 2012 Olympics, and performed on the big screens before every session - there was a fantastic montage of this set to famous Olympic moments from previous games that seems to have disappeared from TH-cam. Brilliant as ever.
@@ross8884I've read somewhere that Muse had to pre record (or lipsync) for the closing ceremony performance, and Matt, being he is, acted exaggeratedly while doing the solo guitar part it almost looked like a parody to me 😂
@@dapidapidap The guitar, bass and drums were sadly pre recorded, vocals were live, apparently it's the only thing the Olympics would let them do, every other artist were completely lip synced.
Think A flat 5 refers to the fifth A flat above a very very low A flat. It's the one on the second octave above middle C. Here in the UK it would be Aflat'' - doesn't sound so high this was but it really is!
The 2nd Law album always seems to get overlooked. Supremacy is definitely the highlight, but there are a lot of great tunes. Thanks for continuing to dive into these phenomenal Muse studio tracks.
One of my favourite Muse songs. Very anthem-like, a bit likes Queen’s We are The champions. Really worth watching the live 2012 version when they performed it at the Olympics!
Yeah. Some of the press weren't on board for this. Some also thought the Win and Fight parts weren't in the "spirit of the Olympics". A beast live. Muse turned up to 11. Prelude was included as part of this song by The Olympics. Prelude still gets played as an intro, usually before Starlight. I could imagine Freddie Mercury belting this out and the guitar is pure Brian May.
Hey Shelly! Myles just dropped a new song! Miss You When You’re Gone. Grab the tissues. You, not Dave. LOL He’s too manly to cry. But I just had to put down my beautiful solid black Maine Coon kitty Friday a week ago, so the song hit me pretty hard. 😢 You guys have a great day!
This song was made for being played live. Such a shame they have never attempted it after the 2nd law tour, probably too taxing on matt's voice since his bout of laryngitis in '14. The guitar tone on the palm mutes during the second 'verse' is something else.
When I heard this for the first time I went throught a load of emotions: 1 - This is terrible cliche athletics bollocks, what have they done. 2 - This got heavy quickly. 3 - This is still BS cliche 4 - This is going to divide the audience (it did!) Then I saw them play it live and with the prelude it's a superb track. It's far from my favourite Muse track but it does work live.

Their live Closing Ceremony of 2012 Olympics was AMAZING, even for them!

They had fun with this one.
Big Freeze is the most underrated track of 2nd Law.
The song that was too much of a pain to sing for 2012 Matt Bellamy lmao

"Insane Broadway Rock Opera" nice description!

The Olympic Committee hated this song. Thought it was too harsh for the games.
Wow that was an awesome song!!
Wasn't completely sold on this initially, but live it's a lot of fun!
Matt bellamy used mason 7 strings guitar
lets gooo ! love the muse reactions ❤
*sits and waits for Rick Beato's response" :)
