What is IO input? A switch ground?

Nice video. Looks like a great product. It would be great to see the BT app in operation (programming tips for field voltage trimming (white space) and monitoring). Also like to see how the generator mode is really unique.

In going thru the Zeus Regulator instructions it appears that a number of fuses are required. I did not note any in this video. This would negate the connecting of the power wires as the fuses are of different amp sizes. Just received a Arco A275 to go with a Zeus purchased a couple months ago. We look forward to a video on this setup as it is a July project.

Thanks for making this! Glad to see more options available in the market. Videos I would love to see 1) Alternator options (Balmar, APS, Genmaxx) and 2) Installing a factory 2nd alternator kit on Yanmar common rail (3JH40/4JH57/4JH80/110) engines.

I have installed and tested all of the options you have mentioned above. For the moment APS stands out in performance but I am holding out making a video on these until ARCO comes out with their version of High Output Alternators. I think the performance is going to be similar or better based on the models I have been beta testing and the price point will tip the scale on performance/cost ratio. But before I publish these findings I do need to test the units before offering a fair comparison.

I just talked to Brian installation about solar options. He was fantastic. Thanks Brian and thanks for suggesting this channel.

why wasn't the alternator voltage being displayed on your phone? while using the Zeus app.

Where do you tap the ignition from: when yanmar ON is pressed or only after engine is started? On beneteau OC45 the engine blower and various relay turn on when Yanmar « On » is pressed. I assume between delay start and no rpm coming in the controller will wait to ramp up the field?

Thanks for this interesting video! Would definitely love to see a follow video about the single vs 2 shunt issue and work around. If you can I am curious why the APS black just connects to itself? Why would it not just do that internally? Thanks!

Hi, With Isolated ground alternators there is typically a wire that needs to connect the negative wire of the rotor to the source voltage ground of the system we are charging (there are variables to this and why it is probably externally mounted). Balmar has the same thing but I have seen this wire heat shrunk white which can lead to confusion with the stator wire.
At the moment the minimum is a shunt on the battery side. There is a firmware update in the works that will enable the Zeus to read data from the Canbus. There is a number of reasons why this was not done in the first place and I hope to be able to release a video demonstrating this at some point. But with this being the most sought after feature and the number one question asked of the ARCO they have decided to implement this change. This is why I find ARCO so great to work with, they are innovative and will resolve issues or high demand requests as they come along.
      hope this helps

Glad to hear the Zeus is adding canbus data for the voltage and battery current. Would you still wire the analog wires and a battery shunt with the canbus data? Is there a configuration to select the “truth?” Or is there a comparator function with “best source” logic?

@@jimduke5545i assume analog is the best source since can provide info intermittently. At least on Wakespeed that’s how it’s setup.

Can I wire my Zeus “shunt wires” to my existing Victron shunt or do I need a stand alone dedicated shunt just for the Zeus?

    • @JeromeLoman
      @JeromeLoman 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

If it’s BMV712 you can directly take from the little posts that’s are exposed, if it’s a style shunt where posts are hidden you have to break into the plastic or drill and tap the shunt, or add another shunt in series but that’s not great practice apparently.

I like these videos and find a lot of useful information but it seems like the they are done by a video producer/channel (not the company doing the actual work) since very few questions are ever answered by the company doing these good installs. I am ok with that but perhaps in these videos you should add a comment/disclaimer that no questions will be answered. Just an idea so me and other’s don’t waste time asking questions that don’t get answered.

This is a great observation. These videos are actually produced in house and not a third party company. The issue is Andre is extraordinarily busy. But comments like this help us to understand the needs of viewers better. We will see if we can get some other electricians to chime in more. Thanks again!

Thank your for your patience for the question asked above and thank you for posting the question. At some point the goal is to be able to publish more videos of this nature and comments like your are what we are looking for to fuel the conversation. At the moment I’m working with a very popular battery manufacturer on a resolve for BMS issue and Victron coms… stay tuned for a video on that.

That should be a fantastic video. Maybe a vignette on selecting absorption and float voltage for full rated capacity and another on cell balancing and the importance of balancing the cells at absorption voltage.
      Great content!!!
