What a wonderful lesson! I know first-hand what a life without discipline can bring. I never had a father and I was a lost teenager. But I'm certainly glad that the Lord led me to him! I don't know where I'd be without him today?! Paul was certainly a brave man I love learning about him! Thank you Pastor! God bless!
May all your labor of love help God's children and hopefully the lost. And anyone in between. May God richly bless you in this life and the life to come.❤
Good class. The shelves look good. So happy for that blessing you have been praying for. God is good. Yes he is. My ankle is healing. Still sore and aches some but I can see God is working to restore me. The great healer! Thank you for your prayers on my behalf.
Good morning Preacher, I pray for the leadership and instruction of the Lord. I need His help. I pray for you everyday that His blessings flow over you! 🙏❤️🙏

Paul not only lead these believers to salvation, he was like a father to a child that needed instruction. He wanted them mature in their faith so they would walk worthy of God.
When you mentioned "called" it lead me to 1 Peter 2:9. He called us out of darkness! 9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:
Phenomenal study, Dr. Bagwell! Love the new bookshelves! These verses continue to show us the heart of the Apostle Paul. A few verses back, Paul was a mother to his converts as a mother who nursers her children. Now, Paul is seen as a father. "Know"/εἴδω/eidō.to see with the mind's eye. This usually refers to Holy Ghost imparted knowledge. "Exhorted"/παρακαλέω/parakaleō/encourage, entreat, urge. "Comforted"/παραμυθέομαι/paramutheomai/instructed. This is to encourage with a hint of secrecy into your heart or ear. This is with bravery, conviction and backbone. "Charged"/μαρτυρέω/martureō/testified. All three of these verbs are present participle. The charge affected Paul as well as the others. It worked for me so it will work for you so begin to behave in that fashion. "Every one"/εἷς/heis/every single one. Paul worked with them one on one to help them with their individual questions and problems. "Father"/πατήρ/patēr. "Children"/τέκνον/teknon/a child who might need some fine tuning. He may need whippings or punishment. Paul is saying he loves them but there may be times that he needs to discipline them. "Walk"/περιπατέω/peripateō/to walk around in a circle. This describes every day behavior. "Worthy"/ἀξίως/axiōs/suitable, proper. It comes from the word that means "to lead". People should be able to look at you and see that it is the way it should be done. "Called"/καλέω/kaleō. "Glory"/δόξα/doxa. In verse 9 Paul shows us his work, in verse 10 he shows us his walk and in verse 11 & 12 he gives us his words. Paul does everything to please his heavenly father. See 1 Cor. 4:15 (a parallel verse). Paul says he is the father of his spiritual converts. A father not only begets his child, but he stays around and teaches/nurtures his child. A lot of churches dip their converts and then they drop them. Paul does not do this. He helps them to mature in the faith. See Eph. 6:4. "Admonition" in this verse means to place in mind, to remind you. There is an exhorter in ancient Greek practice. When the army is ready to go to war and are apprehensive, the leader comes and tells them the battle will be hard but that they will go with them and equip them. He encourages them. The Holy Ghost is our cheerleader who will never leave us nor forsake us. See Amos 3:7. God reveals His secrets to those closest to Him. "Charge" has some authority behind it. Paul is insisting that they live a Godly life. See Psalm 144:12. See 2 Cor. 11:2. Paul wants his converts to live right. See Hosea 11:3. God says He taught Ephraim how to walk. Paul talks about the family. He said for men to avoid fornication and remember their wives. He said to love our wives as Jesus loves the church. In 1 Tim. 4:3 Paul says false teachers would teach forbidding to marry. Paul says marriage is to be desired and not neglected. He is raising his spiritual children. See Isa. 66:13. God illustrates Himself as a mother. See Psalm 103:13. God is illustrated as a Father. See Acts 9:2. Saul desired letters and if he found any in the way he would bring them bound unto Jerusalem to be persecuted. We need to walk worthily and go the right way. See Acts 19:9, 23, 24:14, 24:22 etc. We have been called, invited into the Kingdom and glory of Almighty God. Everything Paul does is for the glory of God. Great study today, Dr. Bagwell! Thank you so much for these studies.
