    Can we say FINALLY we are back with a video centered around my dog? Today I wanted to test out some bits that Home Depot sent over via #THDProspective Program and thought...why not build something for the dergie derg? I put my own spin on ForRent's original tutorial and wanted to share since I think this is a great solution for small space pet parents that may not have a yard.

    Thank you for explaining stuff so clearly. I don't even have a patio so this is great. You could put wood pellets is the bottom to help absorb some of pee, so it doesnt slosh. And it will smell like cedar instead of pee.

    Great idea! I priced these a couple months ago, and they're not cheap! Not to mention, the reviews about cleaning them and odor aren't great, so making one, especially that comes apart, is genius! I have a doggie who's on steroids often for skin allergies, and therefore can't hold his bladder for more than 2hrs at a time, so I really want something like this for him. Getting him to use it will probably be a challenge too tho lol

    Dogs usually pee where someone else has already peed. If your dog won't use this... Here's a couple of tips... Next time she has an accident, place the dirty rags in the compartment below. Next time she gets up there, she'll smell it and make a deposit. ... The other tip is to buy a pack of "puppy training pads". These are made with "the smell" built right into the pads. Slip one or two in the compartment below the grass and she should get the idea. ... If she has a favorite spot in the yard to do her business, place the porch potty there. Between the smell and the placement, she's sure to get the idea! ❤🌅🌵😷.

      Living to DIY with Rachel Metz that did not work for me though, no amount of rinsing could get the smell of dog pee out of my Astro turf. Tried vinegar, tried hot water and dawn, nothing. Had to trash it ☹️

    • @sherhorse
      @sherhorse 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Gray Glider Girl you have to change AstroTurf regularly. I used to use it at my old job and despite daily cleaning every 2 months we would change it. Real grass is better

    • @cassiesenter
      @cassiesenter 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@shaimaaaiaad7523 Hey I don’t know if you figured out a solution yet but from what I heard you got to replace fake grass once a week because the plastic loves to absorb smells and you need to water it everyday until the water runs mostly clear. With real grass you can go up to 2-3 weeks before replacing ( depending on your dogs usage) with watering it once to twice a week so the grass doesn’t die.

    I just bought something similar from the pet store. Of course it’s made of plastic and not as nice as Callie’s but I have a little dog that will pee in the house if left too long inside. How do you get your dog to use it? I haven’t been able to get mine to actually use the turf pad. Anyway, what a cute build for a practical piece.

    This is really really beautiful but I’ve tried this and it smells awful very quickly and no amount of rinsing will get rid of it🤢 I literally did the same thing with a box and the heavy duty tarp liner and the Astro turf and I had to trash the whole thing in 6 months. I tried again with just a dog crate pan and puppy pad liner and sod because I figured I could just throw the sod and pads away every couple of weeks and buy new ones since they are cheap but even that added up and didn’t seem sustainable for the long term. I finally just used that same dog crate pan and filled it with kitty litter and just litter box trained my dog and that’s what we are still doing years later. Kitty litter is cheap, it’s safe for dogs but she doesn’t eat it anyway, and it’s the only thing that doesn’t stink up the balcony (I’m on an upper floor of an apartment). Just wanted to share with y’all! You really made a gorgeous doggy potty, it would be great if you could give an update 6months to a year down the road and let us know how it works out. I can just say for sure from my experience it wasn’t a good long term solution
