Meet Eli

Meet our 2022 Joe Buck Golf Classic patient ambassador, Eli. As a goofball who loves to tell jokes and play tricks on people, 7-year-old Eli has continued to stay positive even though the past year has been full of challenges. After his stepmom received a call from the school nurse that Eli’s knee was the size of a baseball, she immediately took him to the local emergency department, where she first heard the word cancer. Scans done at the Joe Buck Imaging Center revealed Eli had osteosarcoma, a type of bone cancer. Thanks to expert care at Siteman Kids at St. Louis Children’s Hospital, Eli underwent an innovative treatment plan which included chemotherapy and rotationplasty, a surgery, performed by Washington University Physicians, in which part of his leg was amputated.
