    To get the facts straight: Some fanatics really did say that Nergal's leukemia was a punishment from God, expected him to turn Christian and were angry when he didn't but that definitelly wasn't the official voice of the Church in Poland. Other Catholics prayed for Nergal's health. Nergal's friend "Kikut" (from a Polish band Pneuma), who is a devout Christian, visited him often in the hospital and also prayed for him (although Nergal allegedly protested and asked "Could you wait till I'm asleep?" :) The responses were very mixed. Nergal is very adamant in his rebellion against the institution of the Church but he always repeats that he's never against individual people, regardless of their creed. He even respects certain priests who took his side when he was prosecuted for tearing up a Bible during one of Behemoth's shows.

    • @khellendross3573
      @khellendross3573 6 ปีที่แล้ว +21

      I see Nergal as someone who is angry with the institution and with perhaps God himself (I cannot forgive) but not with the actual people practicing. Which shows how wise the man is.

    • @CloudeTao

      @@khellendross3573 Nergal is not angry to God, he is angry at the perspective some fanatics gives of God and Jesus Christ. He is way more than respectful and only wants to mock Vatican and people who doesn't understand what "freedom reign" really means. People are different and can believe in so many things. Vatican does not appreciate that tho. Also, talking about "satanism" that is mentioned a lot in this video, i suggest you to do some deep-in-roots researches. Some satanists would suggest Jesus Christ as a spiritual and ethical guide, and believe it or not: I am one of them. I'm currently studying the roots of Christianity and Zoroastrism, religion that has a lot in common with the New Testament. Freedom is the first step to acquire knowledge and that step, is getting away from some stupid laws and Dogmas. Having a thoughtful mind doesn't hurt, if those thoughts are from pure doubts, not sense of guilt. Flow as a river, do not become a swamp.

    I got to meet Nergal and the rest of the band in the San Antonio show. They were just chillin outside the bus and I was walking to the venue since it is very close to where I work. Had a quick chat with all of them, and was super surprised on how friendly they are. The way they acknowledged you guys during the show, and the way they treated me when I met them says a lot about them. They are not full of themselves like other big bands that I've managed to meet in the past.

    I met Behemoth after their set the first time I saw them in 2007 at Ozzfest. And Nergal is exactly as Vin described him inspiring, powerful, and mighty. They were still wearing the stage costumes and the corpse paint, which they told me was white and black shoe polish. They were looking pretty intense and intimidating, but they very nice and respectful. They each signed my cd and shook my hand, made small talk, ask me if I enjoyed the show, which I thought was the best set of the whole festival. Nergal was last to shake my hand and said “Thanks for coming out to see us.” And I said, “Thanks for coming to play for us. It was awesome.” When he shook my hand I felt empowered and inspired. I’ve seen them play a bunch of times since then. The last time I saw them was on Slayer’s Final Tour earlier this year. But every time I see them their set is just as awesome as that first time.

    Omg this is very touching and very inspiring! The whole thing - you attending the show and Nergal's speech... It's exactly what I've been standing for all my life: mutual respect despite of any differences you might have. I'm a huge black metal fan in a country where everybody is literally PUSHED being Christian and believe in what they're told to believe in... I kinda get it where all the hate for official religions comes from) The point is, we need to stay human no matter what belief system we belong to. Come on, I saw satanists saving kittens and volunteering for animal shelters as well as religious people cutting all ties with their own children just because they believe in some other things (not necessarily satanism, atheism etc). I mean, mutual respect and being kind to each other is the key. And as far as you noticed, many "scary" people understand it better than you thought they would... What a long speech... lol You just touched my heart guys, thank you for spreading the word of kindness and respect, the world needs it so much these days.

    Hey guys. I was first attracted to your TH-cam channel by a Behemoth review. I found both of you to be very entertaining because of both your humor and your insight.
    There is a depth to Behemoth’s music that I find to be very intriguing and your Christian perspectives help to give this atheist a greater understanding of their songs.
    So, I was very excited to see this video pop up on TH-cam this morning! Having just seen the band in Minneapolis this past weekend I was able to relate very well to your experience at the show. The shout out to you guys by Nergal was fantastic and I was actually excited for you knowing how much you love the man.

    Hypocrisy - The Final Chapter

  • @Antelano
    @Antelano 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Behemoth are great guys indeed! We played the same festival in 2010. Said festival always has a small stage for local bands, so that's how we got in. It was our biggest gig yet and we gained backstage access, to an extent anyways. So we got to meet and/or hang out with pretty much the whole festival line-up back there. Behemoth, Lamb of God, Job For a Cowboy, Scar Symmetry. Not all were keen on starstruck teenagers stalking them all the time. But some were cool af. Behemoth being some of them. The best for me though was meeting Peter Tägtgren of Hypocrisy. Freaking legend. Being able to meet most of the band before actually seeing them live for the first was nothing short of awesome.
    Speaking of, I think it's time for some Hypocrisy on the channel. Or Bloodbath for that matter. While I also love Nergal. For me Tägtgren is still one of, if not the best growler in the game.
    Hypocrisy - Eraser / Bloodbath - Eaten
    While I don't think these are the best songs they surely are among the most popular ones. So it should please most fans of the bands.

    I got to meet the guys from Behemoth a couple days ago and got the sense from all of them that they really love what they do and appreciate their fans like few other bands I've met. Nergal struck me as being a very genuine guy who is simply comfortable being himself.
    Really enjoy what you two do. Rarely agree with your perspective but your ability to speak against something without being condescending and dismissive is refreshing in the online world. That you are able to respect the art and the talent on its own terms despite disagreeing with the message is even rarer. I would love to sit with the two of you and just discuss life, the universe and everything.

Shout out to Nergal for shouting you guys out. Just goes to show the integrity of that man. Anyway I'm so happy for you guys. I've been going to shows for 30 years this year and it reminds of some of the best times of my life that doesn't involve by daughters. (Nothing compares to that) but so many great memories of great people and great music. Hope you guys get to experience more great shows in the future. Take care guys!! :-)

    Wow. As a Christian myself, I was really torn on whether or not I could listen to Behemoth. I love their sound and the atmosphere, but I was caught up on the lyrics.
    After watching this, though, my opinion has drastically changed. God does love Nergal. It's huge that Nergal showed you guys such respect. This completely changed my thoughts of Behemoth and encourages me to simply love people for who they are instead of looking through the jaded glasses. We can definitely communicate beyond boundaries and God created all of us (even Nergal) for a wonderful purpose. I've watched my brother Nergal and feel empowered by his story and zest for life.
    Thank you guys for sharing this with me!

    I've known Behemoth for just 4 days and I can already say that Nergal is a great man and an outstanding musician. Behemoth's music is not everybody's cup of tea but I love it and there are some moments in their songs where I thought: "Never heard such amazing stuff anywhere else before". And I've listened to music for 40 years and played guitar for 35.

    I had to stop watching to make this comment because you guys just got so real. The moment Sori talks about looking at the crowd during Behemoth and hearing God say "I love these people." This is where the truth lies, and THIS EXACT THING is why I commented on the very first video I watched of you guys, and why I said that what you are doing is important. This conversation. This realisation. What's going on with specifically religious black/extreme metal is not what it appears to be and I'm glad that you guys are experiencing it in the manner that you are. And Vin likes to bring up Jordan Peterson a lot. These things are connected and we are Legion.

    I love this so much! I too have had Spiritual experiences at metal shows including from within the mosh pit. Im a former Mormon turned Spiritualist turned Witch. In all that time I couldn't find seem to drop my metal music. So I've found Spiritual meaning in it instead. I love how both of you were inspired by God to remember that these are all his children whom he loves unconditionally. I take it a step further as I believed even before I became a Witch that there is no Hell or Devil for any of God's children to be sent to. We have the free will to play the game of life as many times as we wish and get better at it over time. Jesus was one of those who mastered the game. Behemoth is a band that with a lot of talent to back them up is creatively lashing out at the Creator whom they don't understand. But God understands them perfectly. God knows the name of each of their immortal Souls that are written in light. Many beautiful things have happened after someone finishes their rant against God then suddenly hears the loving reply. The book Conversations with God starts out with the author angry with God and putting an angry letter to God on paper. He soon found himself channeling answers to his questions. The members of Behemoth will eventually remember Who God really is. If not in this life, then in another. They will then cease to be angry at Him. Light will eventually penetrate it's way in. Meanwhile, I will continue to listen to their incredible music and enjoy this part of the story.

    Slowly but surely you are getting closer to understanding our subculture and our beliefs (not nesecerely religion) and sharing our view of the world. It's great to see that there exists a christian that is able to somewhat comprehend the messages that are vocalised in our music and not just disband the will to communicate or even just acknowledge the existance of sanity among culture. But this spiritual road is never ending ;)

    A lot of events or situations and even "stagnation" in life that cause illness and will kill us, requires internal emotional, spiritual resistance and a devotional "revolt" for life to overcome the physical world. To truely reawaken all of the senses and be alive. To be refined back to our true vital existence and purged of all the impurity and illness that surrounds us and is within us, which allows us to reclaim joy. This is the ultimate medicine, it is a polar plunge of defiance. Strength through joy. Ever Forward...

    Amazing video, in a way it brings me back to the days where I used to spend hours upon hours discussing religion with a friend of mine (him being christian and me being an atheist). I studied the Bible because I went to a school run by nuns, so that was a mandatory subject, and I think that it's extremely interesting to study it, regardless of religious beliefs. This just shows that when people are intelligent, they can indeed "communicate beyond boundaries", and that is what true respect is. Videos like this, people like you guys and Nergal, are what makes me believe mankind might still have a bright future.
    As a side note, the song that Behemoth were starting to play after the clip you showed (Decade of Therion) was the song that got me into them over a decade ago (hah, puns) and might actually be worth a reaction/review from you guys.
