Martin arranged their orchestral pieces. It wasn't something any of the Beatles could do. Often they would describe what they were looking for, Paul in more detail than John. At other times they would leave it totally up to Martin. And they almost always liked what he came up with.
@@I_Am_Become_Light ~~~~~~I think John's only direction to Sir George Martin was that it should be hyper soupy. (..which Martin dismissed and did the finest arrangement the Beatles had ever heard. It's sheer magic and suitable as one of their finest productions.
I would agree and say Martin was the 5th Beatle but do not forget there were two more!! Yoko Ono came in as the 6th Beatle in 1968 and Billy Preston topped it off as Beatle number 7 in 1969. Each of the 7 Beatles contributing in their own way.

Well the music (chord progressions, harmony and melody) was all composed by John Lennon. So it’s not that hard to get inspired and do your job which George Martin certainly did incredibly well
WHAT? Underrated is NONSENSE! HE was the FIFTH BEATLE ! Understated and indispensable making nearly every song unique and presentable. He was the best part of the Beatles fabric. VERY well rated.
That is a real special treat - the price of admission to a humdrum supporting film. the Rupert the Bear and the Frog Song "We All Stand Together" stands out as Sir Paul's hidden gem.
I hope someone uses AI to get a John Lennon vocal on this. Paul McCartney remembers hearing John sing it for ringo and he (Paul) was just overwhelmed by its beauty and wish --of all their songs--it had been captured on tape!
In musicologist Walter Everett's view, "Good Night" uses chords that are uncharacteristic of Lennon's writing, and its countermelodies and musical interludes are more typical of George Martin, maybe Walter Everett did not know that the Beatles grew in musical aspects through the years of Beatles , example "she is leaving home" " here there and everywhere" those songs have chord changes , in 1964 John Lennon wrote "if i fell" a lot chords changes ,I believe that George Martin wrote the strings arrangements, using the same chords changes that John Lennon 'original sketch composition.
Thanks. It does sound more like a voice with just just the vocal track playing, rather than a theremin or something. I still haven't found any specific mention of it. I wonder if it was Martin's idea or one of the vocalists suggested it. It really is unique. Makes the spine tingle! Cheers.
Probably their best orchestrated work.
I think george martin deserves the credit here

John's giving this gem to Ringo to sing was so cool! Like John was thanking Ringo for being his drummer in his band 😊
One of the loveliest ballads Lennon and McCartney ever wrote, enhanced by George Martin's gorgeous orchestration.
The one, the only Fifth Beatle

@@MarkBird32 Eric Clapton ?
@@MarkBird32 The sixth beatle was Brian Epstein and the Seventh was Billy Preston. Don't even try to name Yoko here

Yoko was NEVER a Beatle, IF, then Cyn was Beatle #6 Maureen #7, nah, doesn´t work that way.

Brilliant, emotional and mood-painting arranging. GM is so underrated.

Why do people think this song is bad
No one I know thinks it is bad... Just sayin'
There is always someone who is deaf. :D
Who the Hell thinks it's bad?

I don't know. Underrated song! It's very beautiful.
I wish there was a vocal take featuring John Lennon. Such a beautiful song.

That final part at the end sounds like something from James Horner
