The tube thing House puts in the patient's mouth is not for exhaling. It's for inhaling. Exhaling does nothing, inhaling raises a little bar until you stop, at which point it falls back down to the bottom. It's used to sort of quantify the strength of an inhale and in pneumonia patients, it's used as a way to visualize your recovery progress, since after a couple days on IV antibiotics, you pretty rapidly regain your ability to breathe in as long as you keep trying to actively draw in deep breaths. Younger patients are told to treat it like a game. I was told to "get the bar up to the ten mark" and then after that I was told to keep beating my "high score". Being able to see the bar get a little higher every hour or so when I tried it motivated me to keep taking deep, strong breaths and sped up my recovery a bit. Within a day after receiving the device, I was able to keep it at the top for my entire breath and I was released the next morning. TL;DR: House says "he has to exhale sometime", but exhaling into that device doesn't do anything at all, as the device is made to measure an inhale.

In situations where there actually is nothing you can do for a patient besides watch them die in agony for potentially days on end... why do we still think it's morally wrong to allow, or even cause death? The nurse where he refuses treatment was in some series, playing a psychotic killer for hire. I think it was Person of Interest. Anyway, she has that crazy killer look in her eye even here. I was legit scared for House.
She does look a little like Shaw. Not sure tho.
The old man is so cute!!! When he said “let me die” I went from 🥺 to 😳 real quick
"We don't chose our birth and we don't chose our death." Isn't that the veritable truth???
He he’s in that much pain. That old and still sane, why can’t he chose to die?? This is a real dilemma ain’t it.
Stefan Voorhout not while being held at the hospital, he tried and they stopped him.
Chase’s face was perfect
Chase's face says "this dude is nuts"
Omg, I miss this show😞. PLEASE BRING IT BACK...PLEASE!!!!!
Seems like it was dumb of House to bring in the rest of the team when he intended on lying to the patient. His lies were written all over their faces.
In situations where there actually is nothing you can do for a patient besides watch them die in agony for potentially days on end... why do we still think it's morally wrong to allow, or even cause death? Is putting someone on a ventilator just to keep them technically 'alive' for as long as technologically possible when their body is shutting down, falling apart, even actively necrotizing, not by definition doing harm, while no actual good comes of it, since the person is almost entirely unable to *do* anything?
Cameron looks like she doesn’t feel well this entire episode.
8:12 the syringe changes the amount of fluid in every shot
Balls of steel..only among those who truly believe in what they do
Friends like Chase is what I aspire to have.
Rather " Friends like Chase are what I aspire to be." Then, what goes around comes around. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you !!!
Plot twist; House is still doing tests and Chase is still standing there googled eyed....
45 years of working in hospital labs and I can tell you physicians NEVER try to step up and do bench work, nor would they be allowed to.
It's TV show? Surprise!!!
House: "Its something I call "A lie"."
Chase: SurprisedPikachu.jpg
😂🤣😂😂
Foreman didn't recognized the vial..
One of Joel Grey’s finest performances ever.
Chase (ride or die) type of friend 👍🏻👍🏻
8:07 Camera showing House with a lethal dose of morphine
8:11 Camera showing Foreman with a not-so lethal dose of morphine
"Can't be a part of this" Cameron is exactly the one who performed the euthanasia in the end. Watch the whole episode, it's good.
The moral qualms aren't with whether or not if he should live, but with whether or not he should continue to suffer
This is a good transition for Chase to be the new house however, it shows more and more :)
