They should've installed the concrete barriers the first time, especially in pedestrian and cyclist heavy traffic like downtown. Trusting some Seattle drivers to obey driving rules and regulations is like pulling teeth in the dark. I guarantee you there will be idiots that would still drive over the barriers for their own convenience because the world revolves around them.

Hi salty, I just want you to know that streetcar tracks are very dangerous. Yesterday, I was on Jackson Street in Chinatown and I tried to merge out of the streetcar tracks but I lost control of my e bike and a slammed my head on the concrete. I was wearing a helmet but it would’ve been worse if I wasn’t.
I'm glad you saw that!! I was just using that section of video as a backdrop for my voiceover, maybe I'll figure out a way to incorporate it in another video 😂

Salty did you hear about this TH-camr name Jack Doherty that was streaming and on the phone whike driving in the rain on the highway in his Mc Claren apparently he was distracted on his phone looking at the stream while driving then he speed up and lose control of the car and crashed into the wall and totaled his car the video of the crash on TH-cam if you look it up thankfully no serious injuries or lucky he didn't hit anyone else on the road. But it shows how distracted driving can lead to a accident in 1 second.
@@perrymanjim I'm not required to come to a full stop at stop signs, just like every other cyclist in Washington, Idaho, Alaska, Colorado, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Delaware, Oregon, North Dakota, Minnesota, Washington DC, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Denmark, and probably many others that I don't know of. And about a dozen other US states are in the process of legalizing the Idaho Stop.
@@WurstCase I'm lumping in some countries that allow cyclists to roll red traffic lights in some form or another. The Netherlands barely even has stop signs anywhere, from what I understand. They're the best example of having a complete cycling network in place!

Unlike here in neighboring Germany, the dutch woke up in the 70ties and realized that they are ruining their cities and put people in danger by having made their country car friendly instead of people friendly. Contrary to that, it is only slowly dawning on us krauts now that we should have watched closely what they did in the last 50 years. And still, there are plenty of people predicting the doom of modern society should only one parking spot be removed for making a given city a slightly more agreeable place to be outside of a motor vehicle. 🤪

8:43 As much as I like to complain about things that should've been fixed years ago, our local DOT director is actually pretty great with cycling, walking and non-car traffic being more focused on than it previously was, and is ahead of the game compared to most other US cities. I can only hope that my viewers in other cities can see the changes that I document and take it to their city councils and demand they do similar things!
I am being sarcastic when I say that. The point is that people LOVE to complain that cyclists often roll stop signs (every time they are ignorant that cyclists are legally allowed to roll stop signs in my state, as well as a quarter of the country), and yet never bat an eye when cars roll stop signs or do any number of other blatant breaking of traffic laws. It's full-on car brain in action
